That’s what we’re looking at from now on.
What is the estimated or projected number of lay offs for 2026?
there are layoffs every year usually before end of q1 and early q4 before the US holidays. q1 layoffs are always to tighten budgets after year end numbers and jan month end numbers. this year obviously layoffs are much more than just that but expect additional tightening before end of march next year
Bumping this for info from @rp+1kbwqk6k3.
Stagflation -
High Inflation - Low Growth.
Is the greatest threat to the U.S. economy (by far).
The Fed lowering Interest rates in the Trump tariff environment will (not) help the labor market (at all).
The Fed should have at least held Interest rates steady this month.
Layoffs continue to Increase, and will ramp up (even more) during 2026 with the (Very strong possibility) of a Major recession; enroute.
Dr-g developer Rezolute is considering potential layoffs. This decision follows the recent failure of a late-stage clinical trial. The article does not specify the number of employees targeted for these reductions. No details are provided regarding the specific departments or roles that will be affected. The company's strategic evaluation of its workforce is a direct result of the clinical trial's unsuccessful outcome.

Expect to see the recently reported forever layoff model. This is a persistent, all year method for layoffs where they happen in artisanal small batch format to prevent investors from getting alarmed.
Large companies do the showy layoff where they announce large layoffs then hire the same or greater number with h1b or offshore. Thus keeping the same headcount to keep from alarming investors.
Which groups were impacted and locations?
We know so little about what’s actually happening. The rumors are endless, and I’ve heard from several people that most cuts will wrap up by Friday, with a few lingering into Monday. But I honestly have no idea if that’s true.
They do only if you care exclusively about the short-term bottom line. We’ve been losing good people and destroying well-established and efficient teams. And it doesn’t really matter that it’s happening right before Christmas. That fact just makes the greed, incompetence, carelessness, and disregard even more jarring.
ConocoPhillips has laid off 10 to 12.5% of its North Slope workforce, the company confirmed Tuesday, as employees at three oil fields move to form a union.
Two hundred forty-three ConocoPhillips employees at the Kuparuk, Alpine and Willow fields have petitioned the National Labor Relations Board to join United Steelworkers, citing recent staffing changes that organizers say threaten employee safety and reduced pay.
According to the organizers’ website a confidential organizing campaign has been underway for months.

Heads up, more layoffs before Xmas holiday.
These layoffs signal a significant shift in the company’s regional operations and reflect continued workforce and operational changes.
All the temp agencies workers will eventually be let go in the next 3 or 4 years........or earlier.
My manager got laid off, oddly he’s always appeared to be super busy too and billable 100%.
Just before Xmas.
Anyone on here thinking DXC care, they need the electric chair.
Many ER Consultants in the Accommodations team were laid off today. Anyone emailing them is getting an auto reply saying, “One of my teammates will be contacting you soon regarding your open accommodations request.” Looks like a big cut hit that group.

The Pajaro Valley Unified School District governing board will weigh nearly 160 proposed layoffs, including arts teachers, mental health clinicians, counselors and dozens of special education staff — cuts union leaders say would “devastate” students. Teachers union president Brandon Diniz said he was “gutted” by the detailed proposal released Friday and plans to rally with workers ahead of the meeting.

From everything I’ve seen, the only real criterion was the bottom line, which usually means we’ve lost a disproportionate amount of talent. A lot of teams are going to be even more crippled than before. I’m not exactly looking forward to all of us having to pick up even more work to cover the roles that just disappeared.
Trailer manufacturer Great Dane says they plan to reduce staffing at its Elysburg plant early next year due to weak market demand. Company officials say about 164 employees could be affected, including hourly, indirect, and salaried staff, though final numbers will depend on economic conditions.

I can't tell how many total, but quite a few academic positions have been eliminated across all of the schools
We don’t expect significant layoffs before end of financial year (Jan 31st). 3Q was good, stock is up and the holiday event seems to be going fine.
Evaluations continue on where AI can be implemented, although progress is slow due to backlog and inability of the tech side to implement and put into production old projects that have languished. Some will be canceled.
Evaluation time is coming up for salary associates so we’ll see the normal reductions based on performance starting March/April.
Probably no significant workforce reductions until the May time frame. Once the new CEO is installed, it’s likely we’ll see some tech leadership turnover to increase focus on project delivery and stability.
We believe several areas are probably safe from the potential 2Q reductions, such as transportation, vision and store staffing. Expect a focus on market management and merchant areas with potential AI solutions to streamline the business side and a renewed emphasis on first to market activities.
We think the biggest resource impact could still be in tech but not until 2Q.
You either bring people who can do the work to where it is, or the work will go to where the people who can do it are.
At this point I would like to say nuke all the workforce and start from fresh, coz I've seen some particular orgs being rotten for decades with politics and performance is no way factored into firing and less competent folks are prevailing, yoo eh, this is the golden opportunity, create a business continuity plan and then nuke all the work force and hire / rehire need as you go basis - twitter did the same, why not Nike...iykyk
A large number of director+ in Network Technology let go today.

Anyone hear about another round of layoffs?
