The Energy and Environmental Research Center at UND implemented workforce reductions. Forty benefited employees were affected by this decision. This total includes 27 permanent reductions and 13 temporary furloughs. The EERC plans to rehire furloughed staff as funding and operational needs allow. The EERC previously employed around 210 people.

Chevron is laying off 111 workers in North Dakota. These cuts follow Chevron's acquisition of Hess Corp. The layoffs affect 63 employees in Minot and 48 in Tioga. Chevron completed its merger with Hess on July 18. The company cited efficiency and lower oil prices as factors.

BLS released new data on North Dakota's labor market for December 2025. The state saw 2,000 fewer open positions compared to November. The job openings rate consequently dropped to 4.5 percent. Involuntary separations rose by 1,000 during December. Overall separations increased by 3,000 from the prior month.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota and Cambia Health Solutions will affiliate. North Dakota regulators approved the strategic affiliation. The affiliation takes effect February 1. Dan Conrad becomes Cambia's chief administrative officer, and Lacey Bergh is the new BCBSND market president. Policyholders will keep their current health care coverage and BCBSND insurance cards. BCBSND will also retain its local plan name and board of directors. Cambia will manage and operate the North Dakota company's policy, claims, and IT functions.

On Wednesday, January 14, Noridian Healthcare Solutions announced staff reductions.Noridian is a Medicare administrative contractor that processes aspects of Medicare services, including including Medicare Part A and Part B medical claims and Durable Medical Equipment claims for Medicare Fee-For-Service beneficiaries in select states.

Drivers were told December 29, 2025 that facility would close February 26, 2026. The center is in between Minot , N.D. and Grand Forks, N.D. This 2025 peak season as reported by other centers also, has been the worst yet with skimpy deliveries, less trailer drop offs and much less U-haul rentals that in normal years.
