Memorial Hermann has quietly started laying off staff on March 23, 2026

The current cycle was conducted more like a firing than a layoff. Staff were told early in the morning that the layoff was effective immediately. System access terminated within minutes and staff were walked out by a manager. Remote staff were notified by Zoom.

KBR, HomeSafe Alliance Sued Over Mass Layoff Notice

A class action lawsuit was filed against KBR Inc. and HomeSafe Alliance LLC. The suit alleges they failed to provide proper notice for employee terminations. Approximately 200 employees were laid off. This followed the U.S. government scrapping a moving services contract. The contract, worth up to $20 billion, was canceled due to performance issues.

Question About Rating of 2 and Internal Opportunities

For those who received a rating of 2 like I did at Aetna, are we still eligible to apply for internal positions? Also, how should we continue interacting with our manager after receiving this rating?

Should we be concerned about being terminated or placed on a layoff list first, or are employees with higher salaries typically more likely to be targeted during team reductions?

HR question: Does a “Do Not Rehire” flag follow you across the healthcare industry?

I worked for Anthem, Inc. (now Elevance Health) for about 10 years. In 2020 during the pandemic, I accepted another remote job with about a 30% pay increase and put in my two weeks.

While transitioning my work, I attempted to upload some personal files (tax docs and school work) from my company laptop to Dropbox after being told I could remove personal data from the device before leaving. The system flagged it as a potential PHI upload, even though no PHI was transferred.

I met with IT Security, explained everything, and signed a disclosure stating no PHI was uploaded and that it would be treated as a first-offense warning.

The next day I was unexpectedly called into HR and terminated on the spot and told I’d be placed on a “do not rehire” list. It felt like a complete bait-and-switch after being told it would only be a warning.

I started my new job shortly after and have now been there almost 6 years, gaining more experience and completing security and PHI compliance certifications.

Now that I’m applying again (including to companies like Cigna, Optum, and Molina Healthcare), I’m wondering:
• Are “do not rehire” lists internal, or can other companies somehow see them?
• Do background checks reveal that type of HR status?
• After ~7 years, would it be worth contacting Elevance Health to ask if my rehire eligibility could be reconsidered?

Would especially appreciate insight from anyone in HR or healthcare compliance who has seen how this works behind the scenes.

BYOD+ is getting reps and managers fired

So there is a lawsuit over BYOD+ which is probably going to be class action. Basically illegal bait and switching. So if you’re a rep doing this instead of upgrading their phone traditionally you are illegally bait and switching. 0 usage reports are being reviewed at 30/60/90 days. Already heard about terminations of both reps and their managers. So if you want to protect your job make sure you are presenting a quote for standard upgrade as well and explaining the price difference. There’s a reason they stripper it down to just the google pixel abruptly. So tread lightly with Samsung being back part of it

Severance or Special Payment Received?

Has anyone from the mid January layoff communication received either Severance payment or Special Payment?

Guessing all of this, as well as PTO payout will all come after term date, but just checking because of the language in the agreement:

" ....will be made as soon as administratively practical following the
execution of this agreement by you, but not later than March 15 of the calendar year
following the execution of this Agreement"

Be careful if located in OBP

I think most floors (business units) have heard whispers about relocating away from downtown Boston as a cost savings measure. One Director on my floor had their employment very swiftly terminated this week as they apparently shared what they knew on a Teams chat (supposedly involved that team going to Lake Mary in 9-12 months). Directors and above are under very strict instructions from senior management to keep plans top secret. If asked directly they are told to deflect and use phrases like “no immediate plans”.

Even talking about this stuff out in the open is now seemingly grounds for termination. Definitely do not put anything on e-mail or Teams. Stay safe out there.

What the heck….they now tracking us 8 hours in office and also terminating people

What a world. The president started a war at his home resort club, meanwhile the bank is going to fire anyone not working 8 hours in office and now they are tracking in office time.

Meanwhile, Mortgage people were given their notice.

What a cold place

What happened to this once great bank

Retirements, hmmm

Odd that people are announcing retirements that haven’t discussed it before… I had my job eliminated and was given the choice to say if I was retiring or not. I responded with “just tell people what you did” rather than deal with colleagues congratulating me on retirement when it is really a termination. Is this a company tactic to make them look better?

Your Layoff Notification

We're all going to be laid off as soon as the company possibly can do so, if not sooner, because we're all being replaced via automation, off-shoring and outsourcing. I'm just grateful to have the nice termination package per labor contract for when the inevitable day comes when my position is surplussed.

Applying for jobs post layoff/term

It used to be that when a potential employer would call for a reference all that it could be told was that the candidate worked at, in this case, Wells Fargo. Is this still the case; or does Wells Fargo give out additional information, such as why they are no longer employed or quality of their work

Termination protocol

I have not heard this addressed – – at least not in a long time; since then so much has happened… Is a person terminated for performance but on the spot and without notice … just, one day they’re working and the next day they’re flat out gone; or are they put on a PIP and if they fail the PIP, then they will be terminated. I’m not even going to ask if they need to have an IM or needs improvement since it seems a lot of people that had EX and Meets have been terminated… I don’t think rating has anything to do with it ..but pls feel free to correct/comment.
