The IT organization requires structural changes.

Consider starting with voluntary early retirement packages for long-tenured employees whose roles have shifted primarily toward coordination rather than direct output.
Reduce organizational layers, as there is an excessive number of VP and director roles.
In some cases, directors oversee little to no staff, which is difficult to justify outside of highly specialized environments.
Finally, conduct a thorough talent review to identify roles that are more administrative than technical and assess whether they align with the future direction of the IT function.

RTO Retraction and Next Steps

Will HR make him send an email with an official apology or will 3000 RND employees be quietly told to ignore him? Either way confidence is lost.

He fired the testers causing an explosion in escaped bugs. BH apologed for him.

His rolling reorg has slowed work so badly that he thinks T-TH will fix the mess he made. Will the reorg ever be code complete?

He put US RND teams under the direction of an inexperienced director in another country with a 5 hour time difference. How does that help in person innovation?

He split Viya 3.5 and 4.0 RND teams putting them in competition ki-ling any chance for a smooth customer upgrade.

He has not developed one working GenAI SAS model after two years of trying.

He gave up a 19 point lead in the NCAA tournament.

Anything else?

Database org update...

Hearing confirmed from senior leadership that layoffs will be impacting the Database org over the coming weeks, ~2,900 roles in total.
It looks like this will roll out in phases, starting with US and then extending to EMEA.
From what's being speculated, areas most impacted include redundant roles (code fixing and ai replaceable tasks), parts of platform, as well as functions tied to performance and time-based metrics.

New Org / Attack Plan

A new approach was just announced and it is more upper level with less to do the work. So, the new execs and C-Levels must still have friends they needed to bring with them.

It was asked why so many who actually did work and were great employees were let go - but no answer given. Probably because there is no good answer. The general feeling is they are retaining people who don't question why so much time is wasted, so many useless layers of "management", and/or do little to nothing. They don't want people who want to deliver and help customers - they want to bark orders and people who put their heads down and avoid conflict!

I am not sure where the Humana Board is - but how are they bringing in people with no proven experience at such high levels and letting them bring down the organization?

Crazy, Crazy!!

NDA March Madness!!

Heard there are 20 active NDA’s across the company at the moment. They’re overlapping and it’s apparent. This web is going to unwind and the employees should know. What it means can be either dire straights or some major reorg for the better. On this site it’s probably the dire straights.

Morale has tanked

Most of the time when we are in the office everyone is just talking about the layoffs or speculating. Quite literally every single project we have worked on over the last 6 months has been halted, changed, changed again, and re-structured. So it’s hard to develop and close business when the target keeps moving. F*ck it. Genuinely hard to work in these types of conditions of constant fear and changes. I refuse to accept the whole “well that’s just Oracle!” Yes, changes at massive companies like this are inevitable. He-l - I used to work at another major competitor. This is not my first rodeo. But THIS level of volatility is breathtaking and staggering! I feel guilty that my productivity has slowed down, but not really.

Toast

Knew it was coming. Another day, another layoff. Reorg. Nonsense. It's Tuesday morning and I'm not going in today. I'm still awake. I've had it. There's no trust. No respect. No reward. Wednesday is the day another employee quiet quits. If I go in.

PR Question

Been with the company for 13 years. All previous reviews were good and even got top achiever before.

Full background is that my child was born in September (dad here) and so I took the bulk of my leave at the beginning of this CY (after my wife returned to her work). So I was on leave most of Jan-Feb

My overall PR was inconsistent with the reasons being completely bogus and I can literally go line by line and provide concrete evidence of where I did do that or was raising the issue and because I should have been switched to HW my job responsibilities don’t align with SW so they don’t really care (don’t get help from management). We got re orged to a new manager director in October and me switching has been in the works since then.

Now the most d-mbfounding part is that on the “how” section I got 4/6 exceeds with the other two being “met” with an overall of exceeds.

As mentioned I’m in the process of being moved over.

So was this just a way to easily give the short straw to someone who was already on their way to a different group? Some punishment for the timing of my leave?

Tech Reorg Thoughts

Thinking the tech reorg will mainly impact global. There’s no tech team in EMEA as all those jobs were transferred to ITC and PTC. GC is running their own tech stack which means they’ll have little to no impact. Converse business was impacted which likely means, their tech will go. That only leaves us with the guys in the global where the bulk of tech sits and APLA.

I got my sanity back after being laid off

They cut me in November. I admit, at the time, it felt personal. Looking back several months later, it was the best thing that could have happened. For the last at least five years there, the environment was toxic. The peer group I started with was gone, replaced by contractors and offshore teams. Every re-org meant new faces and new anxieties. I was constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop. Now that I am out, I can see clearly how much it was affecting my sleep and my mood. My advice to any American applicant is to proceed with extreme caution. The culture is broken.
