If there were any real options out there

I’d be gone in a heartbeat. But the job market is a nightmare, and that’s the only reason so many of us are losing sleep over the threat of layoffs at a company hardly anyone actually wants to work for. In any other circumstances, leaving this company in the rearview mirror would only be a good thing.

Morale and Culture
The continuous layoffs have taken a toll on remaining employees:

We are at an existential crisis more layoffs to come in the near future

This is why finding a job is so difficult: over 800,000 layoffs have been announced in the U.S. so far in 2025, making it the worst year for job cuts since the pandemic peak in 2020, and the year isn't even over yet.

The causes include:
Impact of DOGE 289,000 layoffs
Tariffs and Market Volatility
AI and Automation
Farmers are unable to sell their crops due to a collapse in commodity prices, skyrocketing costs, a debt crisis, labor shortages, and the fallout from the trade wars.

So, start blaming the corporations, not the little guy who is just trying to survive like you.

Explain this to me

Let’s say that you are a Phase 2 employee who gets blindsided jn November and laid off. Do you get severence as well? Or just nothing, but the ability to collect unemployment.

Seems kind of unfair to not allow an early option to quit and take the severence pay because you are remote. You would hope they would not lay off any remote workers in November but from what I understand everyone in the entire company is vulnerable on November 11.

Impact beyond the employee

This loooong reorg, threat of job loss, time to look for another, etc, takes a toll on the whole family, relationships, marriage, friendships. So many are tired of hearing about the drama. Internal family dynamics are so stressed. It’s so damaging beyond a lot of posters who are like there’s life beyond here etc. it’s true but it’s a deep cut no one at the working level asked for.

Elad sent positive email after layoff announcement

Checked my email a bit ago and saw Elad Nafshi sent an email to about 1,500 people about how well the Technology and Product teams are doing.

The teams are CHQ, but it seems like a huge gut punch to all of the division teams that are going to be wrecked with the newest round layoffs.

Is the acquisition back on? October 28

I’ve heard that an acquisition may be back or at least for part of DXC. The reporting date of October 28 has been mentioned around the halls as a big announcement day so either mass workforce reductions, yet another restructure or acquisition - there is definitely something brewing - it’s all too quiet!

Origin of the idea to fire 1% employees every year

I bumped into someone significant at the recent SAP Signavio event in Austin, Texas. They shared the backstory of the concept known as "Project Mongoose" also known as the plaque removal idea of "firing 1% of employees every year." On February 9, 2025, Elon Musk tweeted about it. He said, "I’d like to propose that the worst 1% of appointed judges, as determined by elected bodies, be fired every year. This will weed out the most corrupt and least competent."

The SAP Board Members are huge fans of Elon Musk. Since then, the SAP Board and top management have been hustling to make this idea a reality for SAP employees. They truly believe that 1% of any organization is filled with corrupt and incompetent people who need to be regularly fired to make the company pure. Since they can't identify who that 1% is, they want to empower the managers at SAP completely. The plan is for managers to get rid of people by giving them poor performance reviews, or if they don’t meet their quotas, those managers will also face the axe. By pitting managers against employees, it becomes easier to keep everyone scared and ensure that no one even thinks about basic work rights, working from home, job security, decent salary increases, and so on.

I’m not fully sold on these origins, but it does seem like a plausible theory. This is great news for employees at SAP Signavio who have a good relationship with their managers. Signavio is well-known for consistently promoting and giving salary increases and MOVE grants to the same employees year after year, while the Works Council refuses to do anything about it.

Sarah London - time to fire.

Sarah London was never qualified to run a publicly traded company, let alone one of such prominence. She got the position through a combination of family legacy, connections, and luck (passing of the former CEO). It is evident through recent events that she had no strategy to weather the current social, political, and technological environment. She has put employees out of work, destroyed the legacy of a great company and moreover is harming its patients, the American people. The Board should step in and fire her immediately. There are much better leaders out there.

End of Control 1q2026

Was told by Kiker direct that BCMs moving to business and control will have centralized oversight and closer engagement with second line. Makes sense and just like other efficiencies, this is going to have staff reduction to weed out all the unnecessary layers with control.

Apparently Kellyn Kenny is p_shed off about the Biz Insider article

Been going around that she is very upset that her saying that we should ignore the presence reports got out on the interwebs. I guess her freeeloader remark didn’t land well.

Funny, none of these people were all that upset when the company scr_wed with the lives and livelihoods of thousands of people with the RTO layoffs and relocations. Just business. Now they’re aghast when dirty laundry is aired in public.

If you don’t want leaks just treat people with decency and respect. It’s not all that hard

I, for one, would actually prefer to be laid off

With a decent severance to bridge me over, I’d take it. I’ve had enough of this company. After some time here you eventually hit a wall without even realizing it, and there’s no real path forward after that. The job market isn’t great right now, but staying here doesn’t feel like much of a boon anymore. Whatever the rumors turn out to be, I truly hope those who need the job get to keep it. But for me, walking away and leaving this place in the rearview would be a relief.

Lay off Sept 18

Comcast plans to cut jobs at its biggest unit, housing broadband and pay TV

Comcast is planning to cut jobs at its biggest unit that houses its Xfinity internet, mobile and pay television business, a source familiar with the matter said on Friday, as the company attempts to centralize operations and bolster its broadband business.

Starting January, Comcast will remove a layer between the corporate and regional offices, a shake-up that will streamline the management of the unit but also reduce headcount.
