Schrodinger began laying off the clinical team today. They’re also ending “independent” clinical development, which really closes the door on their entire clinical pipeline - especially since these poor performing assets have failed to attract any partner interest even after years of development. The Chief Medical Officer is also leaving.

These actions highlight the failure of Schrodinger’s executive leadership and board of directors. Their inability to deliver any assets that can succeed in the clinic is a direct reflection their incompetence, inexperience and ineffective leadership. There’s a repeated pattern of poor judgment, weak decision-making, and avoidance of accountability. It’s amazing that, despite this utter abysmal performance, the C-suite and BoD has not been held accountable. It’s time to clean house and find competent replacements that can deliver results.

Why fire individual contributors- layers of managers is what needs trimming in finance, it’s seems a a lot of one sr manager has 4 managers reporting to them who have 1-2 employees each. A lot of “management” of the few doing work -

Target says this isn’t about cost cutting.
But when you eliminate nearly 8% of your HQ workforce and scrap another 800 vacant roles, it sure looks like an “optimization” deck dressed in empathy fonts.

The saddest part?

They didn’t just lose roles. They lost trust, culture, and identity — piece by piece, meeting by meeting, memo by memo — until “Joy!” became a tagline instead of a truth.

And now, the same leaders who created the layers are holding “listening sessions” about the pain they caused.

Make it make sense.

I’ve seen some previous posts on NJ WARN but no real clarification on whether VZ has filed/notified. Sounds like they have been able to skirt this in the past, but I assume not this time with significant layoffs happening in a 30 day period.

Any word on Comcast's NorthEast Division layoffs? I used to work there up until I myself got laid off during one of their many restructurings several years back, but many of my co-workers from that time are still there.

Illinois companies reported 1,722 mass layoffs in September 2025, with Capital One leading job losses following its merger with Discover and restructuring in Riverwoods.

Big layoffs hitting tomorrow unfortunately

So, since around Dan's epic 3Q webcast (where he actually didn't even discuss 3Q), the only positions posted have been retail, and maybe just a couple random others.

I realize there's a freeze and likely the reason, but I'm still surprised to see they've stopped posting for our international territories, also

The other thing is some people here are talking about retail getting axed, but given there's about 20 retail job postings each day, I think that's pretty far off.

BP has said it will ramp up efforts to hive off parts of the business, as the energy company reported a drop in profits in its latest quarter.

The company reported an underlying profit of $2.2bn (£1.7bn) in the three months ended in September. It marked a slowdown against its previous quarter, when it made a profit of $2.4bn, but beat analyst expectations of $1.98bn.

Its chief executive, Murray Auchincloss, who is under pressure from shareholders to reverse years of underperformance by moving away from renewable projects and increasing investments in oil and gas, said BP would push to sell off parts of the business faster.

“We are looking to accelerate delivery of our plans, including undertaking a thorough review of our portfolio to drive simplification and targeting further improvements in cost performance and efficiency,” he said.

Auchincloss, who has vowed to sell off $20bn of assets by the end of 2027, added that he expected the company would have sold or announced the sale of $5bn worth by the end of the year.

BP’s new chair, Albert Manifold, told staff on his first day in the job last month that the company needed to accelerate a plan to cut costs and sell assets.

BP has already managed to agree to sell its US onshore wind business to LS Power, as well as a deal to offload its Dutch retail fuel sites and its electric vehicle charging hubs.

This week, BP also agreed to sell its stakes in US shale assets for $1.5bn, including four Permian central processing facilities: Gand Slam, Bingo, Checkmate and Crossroads.

However, BP did not provide an update on the sale of its multibillion-dollar Castrol lubricants unit, which will be a central part of its plan to raise at least $20bn by 2027.

The company is under pressure from Elliott Management, the activist New York hedge fund that is known for its attempts to shake up listed companies. It has built up a stake in BP and has been pushing the company to cut costs.

I remember about a year ago on this platform someone posted that AI would be taking jobs away from employees. Boy, was there a pushback on this point.

Many of the posts and reactions were never in a million years would AI be taking anybody's job.

The worst move we can make is to stick our heads in the sand and kid ourselves that we are so vital, nothing can take our jobs. The much better move would be to be in the group that "figures out how we can use AI to make our positions more valuable".

AI won't be replacing jobs that use AI but rather it will be replacing jobs that DONT use AI.
