with this new myQ that is being generated and the hiring they're doing in India, could we see the design team being eliminated or reduced?

@2jk I doubt they’re NED. The NED asbuilts get approved for no reason other than to move the milestone. The design teams are constantly waiting on the BPs to provide a good asbuilt (not even paying attention to standards).
@2d7
Interesting you must be apart of old “NED”. Centrals documents are horrible. They aren’t even using the newest excel format for splicing documents.
@29z Not in my market, over half of As-Builts submitted by our BP get rejected first time. Some get rejected multiple times. We absolutely are held responsible for making sure we have solid as builts.
Good luck finding a new job. Any job that requires “drafting” most people won’t be able to draft because Comcast doesn’t use regular drafting software. Half the people in the as-built team, and the new drafting teams would lose their minds in auto cad.
@15q it’s absolutely hilarious of how much the approving of the tasks happen.
The As-Built Team doesn’t QC anymore just approve.
There are no standards and upper management doesn’t care.
Submit Asbuilt task never gets checked either. Job owners just approve it, and hope no one catches it.
@r4 it’s a forced report that the planning and design team will use to try and allot work “fairly” to every individual regardless of where their regional specialty lies. People that are SMEs in Beltway will end up in markets they aren’t familiar with, all for “metrics”.
What is myQ?
Yes, as a part of the P&D team myself, I feel the same way. We’ve already offshored about 30% of the commercial designs, eliminating several design BPs, and enabling auto-assignment, auto-design, and reduction in QC. The internal group design team is getting stripped and demoted to drafters. A lot of us are looking for new jobs; the market is tight.
