It has begun, my team being transitioned to India

Just got the email that the responsibilities of my team are being transitioned to NB and we are expected to facilitate that transition. When discussed with our manager, the focus of the conversion was only on how we can help the NB team come up to speed. When questioned about the future of our team, we were met with a vague response that can be summarized as "just wait and see". Not looking good...

I work in ontap engineering.

Get ready for more work

The work the laid off people were doing didn't disappear. It'll still need to be done. And guess who'll be doing it? Certainly not the ones who made the decision to lay people off and certainly not new people, because they're not going to hire any replacements. Which means, those of us still in IT are sc--wed.

Collective Bargaining is the way forward.

Collective bargaining is the only way to stop the autocratic march of America and business. It fixed the great depression, it will be the only way to fix the coming depression. They think AI will replace all of tech, but it's not ready.

All the naysayers have no clue just how much manual work goes into maintaining the illusion of this bank never going offline. If tech even took one single day off, the bank would suffer a huge financial impact. I work with one of the tech prod support groups, and you would not believe the amount of emails about things breaking. It's non-stop.

If IT wants to push back, form a union. Yes, the people who've been here forever (yours truly, over a quarter-century) would probably make out like bandits. So what? 5–7 years of being compensated what I'm actually worth, and I'll sail off into the sunset, never to work again, opening that job to the next person who has been paying their dues with personal time, for decades.

Management only has control if you let them have control, and you all - for some reason or another - are willing to let them run roughshod over you. So what if the economy is garbage? Anyone who works a real IT job here knows it takes a minimum, bare minimum, of 2–6 months to get someone onboarded and trained up. Even then, you start them out with smaller, more forgiving work, because it's a depth of knowledge job, not a breadth of experience job.

Just think back to how they thought they didn't need QA, laid all the QA groups off, then 6 months later, everyone you knew who worked in QA was back in the GAL.

Collective bargaining works, history proves it.

I am in newly formed team, no one have idea what are we doing.. Dell 101

after months of "big bla bla reorg" I was moved to "superstar team", its almost 2 months and actually I have no idea what they are trying to achieve.

I thought previous place was mad, but at least i could test something, raise a bug and wait forever for anyone to care... or do more stuff/testing.. something meaningful.
sometimes it was quite sensible.

Here?
100% headless chickens flow, they run from one side to other developing secretly something then dropping it and doing something else. Total madness repeating buzz words and hype phrases. Worst of all are the secrets within "team". backlog is full of bullsh-t, but PO jump in and secretly give some weird tasks to teammates.

This is Typical indian IT services Business Model - hire fresher low cost worker and lay off old ones

This is Typical indian IT services Business Model , fool the government that they are crating new employment and get tax break for decades.

Low pay unlimited work - and constant presssure to hire fresher low cost worker and lay off old ones who ran out of steam as low pay unlimited work leads to health deteoration - corporate strategy get rid of them before they society notices and hire fresh blood.
Create new employment by laying offf old staff and show fresher hiring as new employment created. Get purchase order placed new SEZ addresses and keep getting tax break.

TCS Spokesperson Denies Job Cuts Beyond 12,000

A report said TCS layoffs raised alarms in the IT sector and employees shared forced resignations, a “fluidity test,” and an environment of fear. Some staff were blocked from projects despite skills, while HR reportedly pressured resignations. IT unions condemned the move, calling it mental harassment and a violation of company policies during workforce reductions.

IT Job Market is Ugly & Getting Uglier

Probably doesn’t help that hiring managers and recruiters use services that look at and summarize FB, Instagram posts, etc., and company-identified boards like this one, to not only get a sense of personal characteristics of applicants, but the culture from where they are/came.

It’s already super competitive marketplace for jobs in this industry. And it’s only going to get worse. No company using one of these services is going to hire anyone with F5 on their resume based on the comments here. Too many competitors will have applied for the same job without this baggage. And AI tools specific to this task will only make this sort of information more accessible.

Remove F5 from your resume if you can. Or, hope that the sh-t-posting stops - probably unlikely as humans are their own worst enemy when cornered, or laid off.

So, a round of applause for all the sh-t-posters. While they practice their freedom of speech, accomplishing nothing to change anything with F5 for the better, they are making it impossible for all of us to find another job if laid off.

Good luck out there. You’re going to need it - based on the comments here.

new TRUMP $100000 H!B VISA fee - good for our IT workers

Don't know, how many of us here are IT, but when I've heard about new TRUMP fee for indian workers - I started liking my president.
Currently the ratio if indian:non-indian in our IT is 9:1, and the major drawback of that (excepr the reverse discrimination) is knowledge leaking abroad and lower earnings level in the US.
Time and time again I saw indians cominfg in for a year or two, being traned and then replaced by their new "friends" - leading to constant training and losses.
What do you think?

Rumored 30% workforce lay offs for IT

India IT manufacturing team has been here on North Campus for the past month. Last year they got rid of the Philippines IT team and moved all their applications to India. confident the same thing is happening again for US owned apps. Also, seems they are targeting tenured but not confirmed.

I'm sure the bot in #it-support will handle the load. It's done such a wonderful job so far...

Ice Berg hit

Ice Berg and his side kick Marne cut a dozen people in procurement this week, then hired another executive to run IT, moved Almost Ded Ned out from Sandipshit because he wasn't bringing any revenue (scapegoat 1). Then gave Ded a BS Innovation title and probably more money.
Heat is turning up after a terrible August and horrible Q3 outlook for Gilly Bean West. But don't worry the new mascot car, Miles Dumpster, in all the communications will keep morale up.

visionary leadership at its finest.

ask hr chat bot, what a masterpiece. truly the pinnacle of modern hr. no phone number, no email, just a shiny little bot that loops canned answers like a broken record. wow, groundbreaking.

and the it department? absolute geniuses. no phone support anymore. perfect plan. something breaks? can’t log in? need tools? don’t worry, you can just… magically fix it yourself. thanks, team.

ibm really nailed it. employees aren’t people, they’re just a line item on a cost sheet. who needs assets when you can have a quarterly earnings slide, right? visionary leadership at its finest.

but hey, i’m sure this is exactly how you build a thriving company with a bright future. total masterclass.

I’m worried

Not because I’m crazy about this job or the company, but because it’s really bad out there. My wife lost her job six months ago and still hasn’t found anything even remotely decent or in her field. I’m terrified of becoming jobless too. Honestly, the IT job market seems even worse than her industry. I hate what’s happening to all of us.

These effing laptops

Ok, so not a layoff post but a rant. Why is it almost every morning my laptop has rebooted due to mandatory updates and every file I had opened is a "recovered" file I have to overwrite to rename. I work in finance so have loads of Excel SS open and it's just causing me extra work! FFS
