Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Most Useless Area/Sub-Area of 3M IT?

My take is that Services & Strategy is the most useless area of IT thanks to the SVP that Smurphy hired (surprise surprise). All they have done is introduced a dumpster fire of a process to "manage" demand and a half-baked attempt to prepare for RTO. Thoughts?

How many employees in IT Strategy & Services dont go into the Austin or Minnesota office per the RTO policy due to their "special arrangements"? Inquiring minds want to know.

Why does SVP and a few others he knows get to work remotely…not anywhere near Austin or Minnesota.
Does not seem fair at all….very very not fair.

Well looks like the Smurph got the boot. Though If you thought there was no strategy for IT before, buckle up since the Services & Strategy SVP will be running the clown car now

Most difficult team to communicate with and align goals. Return the micro-managing and their insecurities to the east-coast!

@j0 I'm in IT. Pretty sure my VP is getting kickbacks from contacts with Cognizant, because she will insist that we hire them for something, then they will fail to do what we ask them to do, she declare a successful project, and then the cycle starts again in six months.

We're currently renting a license for software from then that she insisted they purchase and then lease to us. And the software doesn't even do what we need it to do.

Because the software isn't effective, some problems have been building and things are finally getting noticed.

I'm sure she'll ride to the rescue to insist that we hire Cognizant again.

What about the population we resettled from India to Woodbury? Are they all still around with cognizant?

IT is the most corrupted organization in 3M and perhaps other companies. Cronyism galore. Lots of consulting contracts with leeches like Accenture, McKinsey, and Doms Kearney. Plus the Smurf seems to be untouchable so nothing ever happens.

With "friends" like IT in this company, who needs enemies?

...and more high paid individuals than any other org in IT... all talk and no real value.

If the strategy is to reduce the overall cost of IT by laying most people off, then it's an extremely useful team. If its service is to help each team execute those layoffs, then again, a pretty useful team. So, if you are on board with RIF, it's the most useful team in IT. Demand intake - joke. RTO - also a joke.
