200 Jobs Lost To India

Bone crushing blow. Mutual of America is laying off over 200 employees over the next 15 months and shipping the jobs to India. A fleecing of America. An American company selling out. A giant suc-king sound. Morale is rock bottom. Mental Health counselors are on high alert. People are crushed. Devastated. Company can't find ways to raise revenue. Has to resort to cuts only. Accenture benefits. Mutual is now double paying: FIS ($8M) + Accenture ($~18M). Just think, the old system only only costs $8M per year. Now, they pay tripplethat

What happend to Nielsen?

I retired from Nielsen 5+ years ago. A former coworker pointed me to this site, so I'm out of the loop. I only ended up on the careers page because my son just graduated with an engineering degree, and I thought the Oldsmar facility would be a great place for him to start. Instead, I'm perplexed; are all the engineering jobs in India now? What actually happened to Nielsen? The engineering culture and work at Oldsmar used to be great, but now it seems like a ghost town. Catch me up on what I missed (and yes, I realize now I should probably steer my son elsewhere!)

Major Workforce Shift Underway at T-Mobile

Employees report ongoing layoffs, aggressive cost-cutting measures, and a continued expansion of operations in India. Cybersecurity and operational teams have been among those affected, raising concerns about the future of U.S.-based roles.

According to discussions among employees, more work is being transferred overseas as the company focuses on reducing costs and consolidating operations. Many are questioning the long-term impact on workforce stability, service quality, and institutional knowledge.

The lack of transparency surrounding these changes has become a growing concern for employees across the organization.

New Wave of Layoffs Coming

Well, what leaders, especially certain SVPs, VP’s, and Sr. Directors, have been waiting for has happened. The $100K H1B visa fee has been blocked by a Federal Court. The wheels are already turning in RR and Austin to start lining up all the relocations from India to the US. While those are in process, a new large round of US citizen layoffs is in the works. My SVP is an Indian, and I just overheard his conversation with his Indian Sen. Director to start looking at Bangalore candidates to consider moving. It’s never going to end!

fast-tracking performance reviews

Heard from the India team that Muhi Majzoub was in India last week. In a meeting with employees and presence of HR, he basically dropped hints that layoffs are coming down the pipeline soon.

Sounds like salary hikes are definitely getting delayed or might not even happen at all. On top of that, they're fast-tracking performance reviews right now to flag low performers before making the cuts.

Anyone got more details on this?

BTC Sales to BMT Electrical

They’re pulling folks straight out of sales teams in India and dropping them into maintenance and engineering gigs on site?
Latest one: Girl with 7 years in BTC sales just landed an electrical engineer role in BMT. And the announcements are full of these examples.
I’m genuinely disgusted and disappointed. When did “fit the role” stop mattering for jobs that keep operations safe and running?

This is pure abuse of L1/L2 visa. Someone should report this

H1B and L1 Scam is Out

Bloomberg says:
Tata consulting services has brought 6500 L1 visas to USA from India.
L1 is for 'Managers'. Many were not managers at all l, just a cheap labor with fake titles used to bypass immigration and take Local jobs. Also submitted about 25k H1B applications.
Surprisingly most of these visa holders are in Ford, Stellantis and GM

Huge GCC opened in Chennai, India today

They opened a massive GCC offshore location in Chennai, India today. I heard from.Sr. VP that they are going to systematically start replacing American jobs with offshore starting starting next quarter as part of cost cutting. This company is doomed if executives think offshoring is the solution to all their problems.
My advise is start looking for other jobs while you are still ahead, especially if you are in IT/engineering roles, tech support and remote roles.

Edward Jones explores 'hub' in India amid home office cuts

https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/business/article_81cc95f7-0e43-4a63-99fd-f91d44720096.html

"We believe this approach will strengthen our capabilities, enable around-the-clock operations and allow access to key skills at scale — while preserving our culture, quality and security standards," the company said.

Nothing like preserving your culture while moving it to the third world!

BP surpasses +100,000 employees and contractors. The highest headcount in bp’s History

Why did bp increase headcount 18% last year with ongoing strategic layoffs?
Has AI permitted bp to be leaner and meaner? And simpler?
Is bp’s AI a thing? Has bp’s super computer actually resolved making operations safer and more productive?
Are the 15,000 new employees hired last 20 months based in India? Are we removing one western employee and hiring 3 Sub Continent employees ?

Do we think India contractors will be able to replace underwriters or asset managers?

I feel like it’s already happening….. They have the data entry part down for spreading financials. What would stop USB from telling them to also do write ups etc.?

It feels like the only professions untouchable by india is law, medical, and trades…..

T - mobile & at&t begins operation in india

VZI completely collapsed, So many people's layedoff. Mostly band 7,8 . Management role are much secure and encrypted like any other role. While at the same time T mobile & ATT have expanded there operation with a lot of hiring.

Seems VZI going to be shutting down soon. As two Indian leader been shaked ( Shankar and Sampath.)

Why is Nawani's team allowed to travel international

From London to New York on business class for frivolous reasons that achieves nothing substantial? Especially when Citi has laid off so many people? If this person is required to be in new York, why wasn't he made to relocate to let go and someone new York based found to fill the opposition?

Is it only a coincidence that this person has family in ny/NJ that he gets to meet on company dime when laid off people have struggled to find something new after being laid off, been on expensive insurance and many other struggles?

Why is Nawani and his team so special? They've barely achieved anything of note that isn't brittle as a house of cards that would fall apart when actual experts in data look into it rather than second or third line generalist that have made every decision for him on data products? And whatever was left was made by generalist consultants

India strategy

We’re making a big bet on India and staffing down all over the world. But has anyone thought about what happens when our internationally unpopular president gets pi---d off at India and we no longer want to be each other’s friends? Seems like the company would be pretty sc--wed!
