Just a general thread for Optum Global Capability Center Chennai. What do we know, where are we going, how will things play out, the impact on the rest of the work force.

Does anyone know exactly how many people Ford employs in India now? From what I see, they easily outnumber our domestic groups, and I've heard numbers as high as 15,000 in Chennai?

They have become significantly harder to deal with lately. What was once a helpful partnership has devolved into constant demands and requests; I remember when both the ratio and the dynamic were the exact opposite. With Ford now pouring over cash into India to restart engine manufacturing, is anyone else concerned about where this trend is heading? It feels like we are trading our core expertise for a growing army of incompetence. Has anyone else noticed this shift?

More jobs being sent out. The Job board is crowded. If you have a job I’m sure you are training those out of the country. Rumors flying cuz no one knows what they are doing, which is odd since these are imp. positions? Slow wait times too. Backed up. Anyone in this position? Sorry if you are. Was the divisions changing more about taking jobs and offshoring instead? It doesn’t seem right or people were lied to and it’s gotten so bad. I

I understand it's a business decision. What makes me furious is that they recently hired someone for double my pay for my role as a contractor in Hyderabad. Whats worse is that I interviewed that person a year ago and he knew nothing of any technology, I even flagged that the profile could be a fabricated one.

Do we have sufficient seats ? any news ?

Vinod AJ lost his job in August as a software engineer earning about Rs90k a month with #Cognizant. “The fear factor is everywhere,” said Mr Vinod, speaking from #Chennai, where he lives with his wife and two-year-old daughter.
For 13 years, he has sent money back to his family in (nearby) town of Kanyakumari, where his parents worked as teachers and his grandparents were rice farmers.
Desperation is rising among employees, many of whom were the first generation to go to university and still support families living in rural areas, said Mr Vinod, who also works as general secretary for All India Forum for IT Employees.

“These mass lay-offs are putting fear into junior employees, we are wondering how prosperity and jobs will pick up again,” said Mr Vinod.
