Leave Traditional Banking Job For Fintech?

Howdy,

Got an interview request to do cyber controls/risk work with a "crypto leader." Recruiter is being coy about which firm but I figured I'd post here for thoughts.

Anyone here have info on how the gov/risk/compliance departments are here? Would you recommend leaving a similar job at an established top 10 bank for a riskier job in this space for an 80k pay bump plus equity?

I did see there was a 20% layoff in "crypto winter" 2023 but my current company had a bigger layoff in recent years so not sure how worried I should.

Fifteen (five one) Year Auto Loans Anyone?

"Tricolor contagion is spreading. Confirmed bank exposure: Fifth Third ( $FITB) ~$170–200M, JPMorgan ( $JPM) ~200M, Barclays ( $BCS) [secured], Origin Bancorp ( $OBK) ~$30M. Subprime auto fraud is bleeding into regionals—provisions & ABS downgrades likely —and growing."

Updated Capital Structure

Has anyone heard any news or details on the updated capital structure that was alluded to being explored to back in March?

The only thing I've heard is that those leading the work have been going around to GPs and SLPs to get their feedback and ideas.

We can all assume those GPs and SLPs will be generous and not make associates jump through a bunch of hoops and politics to benefit, right? right? GPs are totally supportive of taking slightly less and would never be personally motivated in their input, right?

Q!'26 cuts are going to be rough... Wall St. confirms..

So I have a couple of senior folks who work for Wall St. firms , and they have given me a heads up that Q1 is going to be a major hemorrhaging of white collar jobs, sectors mostly affected are big pharma, telecomm ( including at T. , VZ and CISCO) , and finance. .

Basically, companies are already pricing in the rate cut, but the unemployment numbers coupled with tarrifs effects and a expected weak holiday season is going to cause this.. so better save your nuts this winter..

259 Layoffs - Times are tight

Last year Penny was compensated 29 Million Dollars. If each person laid off had total income of 100,000 including salary and benefits, the total cost is 25,900,000.

So if Penny took one for the team she would only made a paltry 3.1 million dollars. Granted, she wouldn't get out of bed for such a peasant salary, but in my fantasy land 259 families would be well taken care of and she would still make 12,500 a day, 62,500 a week and 250,000 a month.

Granted, never will I be in a situation where I get to pick between being elite wealthy, or just really rich. Amongst the many reasons is the fact that I could never sc--w over so many people in the pursuit of my own interests.

So often we are blinded by blind idealism that everything should be unlimited, greed is good, and that anyone who says otherwise is a Socialist. Im not that, but I am also not one that believes a handful of the lucky sp--m should make more than 259 well paid people.

We really need to start looking at the big picture instead of glorifying the people that are ra-ing and plundering cast resources for their own enrichment.

News flash, Penny doesn't, and never has given a f--- about you, me, or anyone. Penny cares about Penny's purse. Insane

Q2 13F

The latest 13F filing was done. Cap Management has $9.3B in Q2 in 2025 compared with over $10B in Q1 of 2024. Market has been up about 13.5% per annum since then. Is there a stated strategy to actually grow the AUM or is it mainly loss avoidance ?

Nielsen/Fidelity - Pension Annuity

I started with Nielsen in the early 2000's and at that time they had a retirement annuity program vis Fidelity. Dave Calhoun was quick to end that bad boy asap once he raided the place in 2006. I'm long gone from Nielsen but I still have this small annuity from about 6yrs of work which totals about $35K and says my payout can only be monthy when I turn 65 (retirmente age)...which will be about $200 per month. So not really much money at all. I'd love to try and get a lump sum now which is what many of my colleagues at the time got when they were let go or quit (however they were employees from the 80s and 90s). Is anyone familiar with this pension plan or how to go about getting a lump sum payment? I've tried several times to do so on the fidelity website but always get rejected. Thanks.

Finance Cutting Executives by 50% by 2030

Finance oversubscribed, and reducing number of executives dramatically by 2030. Significant pressure to reduce potential of younger staff. Although has been happening for few years now, more pressure again this year. I had executive potential 2 years ago, recently told no longer executive potential, not competitive. Many with executive potential last year will lose this year.... but interning MBAs who will surely become future executives.... hmmm Ask you manager!! Most wont volunteer this information on your potential change but will communicate if directly asked.

@1isi+1qvFITBk

So I guess what you are saying is the CEO, annddd BOD have been lying to shareholders AGAIN? Didn’t they already get in trouble for this and fined. You lie lie lie!
How does Shart’s sphincter smell ya brown nose. Are you here to stroke an inefficient CEO’s ego and spread disinformation. If the focus has changed then shareholders and regulators need to be informed and approved. If what you say is true LOL, there is a very large paper trail and recordings stating that his #1 primary focus is to bring “wells fargo’s risk and control environment into compliance”. Regulators would never approve anything you say until those problems are addressed. Don’t you have a blumpkin that you should be attending to?

Either way, THE SCHART IS INEFFICIENT, OVERPAID, AND HAS REPEATEDLY FAILED. If you think that success is equivalent to being fined multi-billion dollar fines then yiu nuat be the Shartman himself or some minion ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE SOME FALSE NARRATIVE THAT DEMONSTRATES THAT THE Schart, AND THE BOD HAVE BEEN LYING TO, SHAREHOLDERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AMERICA!

Aren’t they being sued by a convent of nuns who are also inventors and have accused the CEO of this exact scenario.

Moving Finance job overseas

CFO just announced that we are going to cut US finance jobs (both voluntary and CPM) to increase HC in lower cost center like Costa Rica. And apparently only targeting to US finance employees. How is that ok especially when the company took government fund (source from our paycheck) to increase OVERSEAS jobs?

Confirmed

Sources are saying that the big chiefs are in a meeting together and they confirmed that they heard JV and others are putting together the names of the next group. The rumor is May 31 will be billing and accounting department. The on s staying will aquire the responsibilities or be let go. I can't believe they are doing this to people who have worked hard. Good luck everyone.

The fact that you call it a “gravy train” is insulting.

Do you ever stop and wonder why a Saudi led company would want to pay me more than you? It’s because I sold my home, my cars, uprooted my children from their schools and friends, and my wife left work all so we could come to Saudi Arabia and help YOUR company. It’s also because I posses skills you don’t have and still don’t. #finance.

You call it a gravy train, I beg to differ, so do my wife and children.

The truth of it all is your company would be much less corrupt (VP using company jet to buy furniture for his home), much more efficient, and a lot more profitable if you stepped out of the way and let the adults take over.

It’s ok though, I’m just here for the “gravy train” and while I’m here, I’ll continue to watch the death spiral.

It’s not an insult, it’s just reality.
