How big does your yacht have to be?

Having worked here for a number of years we've all heard of the "restructuring" BS that has people in a constant wave of panic. Even though I am upset at how I was laid off, ultimately I'm glad and think this can help me in the future. Useless MD/D & SVPS that run the boat into the storm and never seem to face any repercussions for their actions. After a fairly tough year getting bad ratings seems to be the reason I loss my job but who can even tell. They claim my role has been eliminated, so here I am at home waiting to hear a call from HR. On another note I cannot reach out to HR it seems like this was a planned move on their part; giving managers a script to read to workers and absolutely no answers I feel like a sitting duck. And to any of the managers reading this that knew their workers were going to get cut but decided to tell them the day of the actual cuts. I hope you enjoy he**.

TECDP PIP

Anybody know of any situations where a contractor or TECDP got hit with a PIP, or was unable to post-out of their role.

Seems to be a huge concern as a lot of the class is trying to get post-outs and are struggling, with some having to leave externally.

Definitely team dependent of course, was just overall curious.

I’ve heard of TECDPs that posted-out then got canned.

Does it come with severance?

Relax at Qualcomm

I have been with Qualcomm for the past 15 years. My current role typically takes only about 2–3 hours a day, and honestly, it’s something a new graduate could handle. Yet I continue in the same position and earn a Principal Engineer salary, which I’m very grateful for. Since I have extra time, I also pursue some real estate activities on the side., vesting and resting. There are hundreds of people like me in the company , milking the company as much possible.

They never check to see which roles are missing

The layoffs seem almost entirely driven by the bottom line, with little other logic. We pick up the slack left by those who were let go, clinging to the vain hope that working harder will save our own jobs, so no one ever pays attention to the fact that critical roles have been eliminated. They care even less that everything will eventually fall apart. There’s only so much people and teams can endure before they break.

RTM

That position sounds horrendous. Did they give you an option for the severance or did they just pick who they're keeping? This job su-ks now and adding hiring, training, doing schedule, covering call offs/short staff on top of being a rep and cleaning up backrooms. That sounds like 70 hrs a week. Those of you that took the role what you thinking????

4th year, 4th restructuring/layoff, it’s over

I’m just frustrated that they keep cutting and cutting roles, to stack responsibility on top of someone else is work load…then decide make you fight for a open role in a “hunger games” like ritual where you go against your colleagues. This whole thing takes a month long mind you. Then if you’re lucky to be the one they picked, poof, restructuring 6 months down the road. Su-ks

Band 5 Principal vs Director

Is a B5 IC Principal role less safe from JE than a B5 Director role? Wondering if IC roles at that pay are first to go and if being a people leader gives you more stability.
Are B5 more safe from JE than other bands? Why is this place like this?

Planning and design all hands

During the all hands meeting we had the other day the VPs were saying they were looking to change current employee roles to, essentially, lower level roles. They’re basically giving out demotions but saying they’re good opportunities for growth.

They’ve already started doing this by forcing engineers and coordinators into drafting OSP designs.

Sadly not many people are complaining or raising concerns, and an oddly large amount of people are “excited” to provide “value” to the company.

BA role with Fiserv DNA Experience

What does a Business Analyst do, supporting Fiserv DNA? Is it difficult to catch on if I have BA experience but not specific to DNA experience? I'm thinking about doing an internal transfer for this role but would like to hear feedback from one that has been in a similar role.

MBA Role Change

Talks on a previous thread of the MBA role absorbing OOM duties creating the new Operation Facility Manager role. Can anyone verify this? Another question is what happens in store with an MBA and SMM only? Do MBAs just take the ops portion from the SMM? Would the duties just be the combination of the two roles or are any other shift of responsibilities off of this role onto another?

More ISPs Are Coming

This is based on actual facts….

In April there will be another town hall to tout the success of ER. They are going to share that we’ve gained efficiencies through reducing the layers of management as well as early successes of automation and outsourcing….hence the acceleration of phase and 2 of ER.

It will be at that point the return to office and shift in where work is performed (in office and HBA) will be introduced as a means of accelerating our delivery of products and services. In short, HBA will become a select group of job families….mainly Ops and Service roles. Those roles will be split between outsourced contractors and employees.

They did NOT need my role no lore but…

Am one of those who will leave on 2/20 - and the team us now wanting to get all the knowledge. I know is not my manager/directors fault - but they had no shame telling my role was not needed = eliminated

I played nice till now. But 1/1 - dont bother me no ‘mo - figure it out

Cause remind that “VP leader” who made the choiced - my role is not needed. Therefore - you dont need my knowledge

Guess who gonna play the “ am sorry - I dont know the answer to that question anymore”

Are sales roles cooked?

I’ve been in tech field sales for 7 years now, is this a dead end career path at this point? I assume I’ll eventually get reduced as well, and it’ll be even bleaker for me to find a new job when it does. What should I be looking to transition into if it is? Sales is all I have experience with.

Any NFO/VZB Techs Here?

Im in the vzt world. I was just wondering what you guys do? Do you work in a CO or in the field? Are you union or non union? What sort of thing does a vzb tech handle that a regular I&M or SST wouldn’t?

Excuse my ignorance, I’m relatively new and genuinely curious.

Transitional employees left in the lurch

Former Hessie in transitional role. It's been 7 weeks and we are abandoned in the Hess building incommunicado. Not a one of us has been contacted by our new CVX managers. Logging on while collecting a paycheck just in case. 👀
I spoke with some CVX transitional people (former coworkers of mine from a past life) and they too have been cast off from their original team and left in the lurch.

No one understands why they kept us on the payroll but I suppose it's a good problem to have if I don't die from boredom. No plan for us whatsoever. Thank god my tenure ends in 1 month. I pity the ones being held hostage till summer awaiting severance.

This is the strangest layoff I've ever seen/lived thru in more than 20 years (and 2 of those were CVX acquisitions in the 2000s).

AWS Proserve

Hello, I recently received an offer from AWS Proserve for a Sr Deliver Consultant role and wanted to know about the team.
Few points are :

1) How stable is the team? Are the frequent PIPs and layoffs?
2) How’s the medium term future of Proserve? Are there projects?
3) Is the delivery consultant more hands on role or is it more talking?

Thanks
