It’s Time …

https://www.crn.com/news/channel-news/2025/insight-ceo-joyce-mullen-to-retire-leading-insight-has-been-the-pinnacle-of-my-career

It’s time for CL to follow suit here I mean c’mon man — What are she and the board waiting for? How much lower and worse, respectively, does the stock and culture have to rot before she’s out?

My anchor holds

My heart has been so heavy the last few days not because I'm worried just for myself, but because I've become somewhat addicted to checking this page and reading your posts and sensing your fear and frustration. I've joked for the past few years about wanting to get a VSP opportunity. But as I examine my life savings and number of years until I can officially retire i realize that those numbers dont add up. So I guess there is a bit of worry about that.

But I've been a person of faith all of my adult life. An old hymn we used to sing is called "My Anchor Holds" It speaks to times of uncertainty when storms rage, if our life is properly anchored, we will make it through the storm. Today I choose to cling onto that thought. When life knocks you down it gives you a chance to look up and find or renew your hope and faith in God. My sincere thoughts and prayers are with you all today.

Vz Retirement vs RIF

For staff 60 and older, will Vz give the option to be laid off or take early (forced) retirement? I keep hearing about retirement program where if you are at least 60 and haven’t least 15 yrs service you might be eligible for retirement benefits…in addition to RIF package?

Be Prepared

Would also suggest making sure your Benefits Connection sign ons are working if you haven't signed on in awhile AND that you can sign on from a personal PC at home.
If close to retirement age or over 65, there are insurance options on there as well plus a link to Via Benefits for secondary insurance coverage

Cuts hit the people who gave the most

Seeing that long timers were pushed out makes it clear how little this place cares. Some of these folks built their whole careers there. They could’ve offered early retirement or a way to leave on their own terms, but they didn’t. It’s a rough way to treat people who showed up for decades.

Announcements

There will be many leadership “retiring” announcements over the next 48 hours. Many of those emails are shocking as people have no idea in their orgs. You shouldn’t be fooled as this is an attempt to make you believe that the leadership is suffering like the regular rank and file. Leadership’s numbers pale to what will happen on Thursday. They will all get at least a year of pay and a year of medical while real workers will only get a max of 35 weeks.
Which day will they tell us about the 5 days a week RTO? It is too sinister not to announce to drive the nail deeper in our hearts.

Walmart CEO Doug McMillon to retire, John Furner to succeed

After over a decade in the position, Walmart Inc. CEO and President Doug McMillon will retire Jan. 31.

Current Walmart U.S. President and CEO John Furner has been elected by the board of directors to succeed McMillon effective Feb. 1, according to a Friday press release. Furner has also been elected to the board effective immediately and the company plans to announce his successor before the end of fiscal year 2026.

I see no future left with this place

The fanatical obsession with meeting next quarter's numbers to mollify Wall Street is diametrically opposed to being a strong innovation company. The linkage between end customers and CRL and Divisions was very strong for decades. It covered all businesses. Major advances in road sign and road paint to improve nighttime visibility was a classic win-win. Think how many lives have been saved. Just pulled my winter gloves out for the first real cold blast of early Winter and love seeing Thinsulate.

Desi may have been a so-so CEO and perhaps a good example of Peter Principle, but the innovation didn't die with him. The problem began with James McNerney. He's the one who decided the penny-wise pound-foolish strategy of starving CRL to pay for bigger dividends or buying back shares was a winning strategy. WS loved the guy. Employees not so. Other than a 20% boost in 3M share price the week he was announced in 2000, the share price didn't beat the SP500 by much for the rest of his failed tenure. Inge borrowing billions to buyback shares and scare off activist investors saved his and Mike's job but left the company starved of new blockbusters.

Like Field of Dreams (build it and he will come), for CRL is needs to be "invent it and customers will come" - BBs obsession with NPIs only breeds game-playing (how about a peach colored sticky note, any one?). When Desi pushed for 30% of sales from new products, he at least fully funded CRL. BB, nope!

Just happy I somehow made it to the right age/experience to get pension and retiree medical support (although BB is sc--wing people over to be "competitive"). I see no future left with this place. Just pump it full of painkiller and break it off into pieces and hope the divisions don't end up with a Bryan Hanson 40 million dollar man doing what he's doing to wreck SOLV.

Perfectly said, @z9+1k9bbemrv.

Retirement from Charter

What is Charter's retirement age and years of service is needed to retire? Also, does Charter offers subsidized health insurance in retirement? With the merger, I'm sure this policy will change to either Cox's terms or stay as Charter after the merger. Hopefully people can hold on to receive those retirement benefits.

U.S. Bank 2010 Cash Balance Plan Rollover

I was let go by USB and now finally am settled in my new job. What is the easiest way to rollover your money from the U.S. Bank 2010 Cash Balance Plan? I have already rolled over my 401k from Fidelity but the funds from the U.S. Bank 2010 Cash Balance Plan seem more difficult to rollover.

Incompetent HR/Benefits team

I’ve retired, still not Medicare eligible and my insurance carrier is changing during COBRA. I don’t know why. I’ve called HR/Benefits 3 times, each time I speak with someone, they tell me that I will have answer within a few days. I had the one person create a ticket number, of course, no one informs me of anything. Today, when I called for the 3rd time, rep tells me the answer they put in the ticket was “insurance carrier changed”. No sh$$ sherlock, yes I know that, that’s what I’m asking is why did it change.
Would anyone know why it would change. Yes, my address changed to a different state, so I’m assuming that’s the reason why.

Retirement calculation?

Hello
Can someone please post the current retirement calculation?

I was laid-off, now past severance with no access to current docs. I am getting paperwork from WF calling me a retiree and including sign-up docs and sites for retiree benefits. Yes, I know, there are really no retirement 'benefits'. Just curious why this is happening.

Thanks

Thank you, Wells Fargo

I was laid off waited for the severance PTO bonus all that jazz and I couldn’t be happier. I am officially retired. I can now enjoy my life without all the Wells Fargo drama between Social Security 401(k) and other investments. I’m making more than I did at Wells Fargo I’ve been in many engineering jobs And Wells Fargo is nothing but a joke. I am really glad to be gone.

2c

if you are at least 59 1/2 years old you can do an in service (meaning you are still employed) withdrawal from our 401k into a rollover IRA without any immediate tax impact. If you are younger I believe you are stuck until your employment with the company providing the 401k ends.

There can be downsides to moving money out of your 401k to an IRA, mainly getting in the way of future Roth conversions (affects all ages). This is also a consideration in you are in the pension and are considering a lump sum payment, to be rolled into an IRA. If this is like reading Latin to you please run it by a tax or financial advisor beforehand.

401K change to Empower

I never heard of Empower so I checked them out and this is what I found: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.empower-retirement.com

“We are confident Empower is a better long-term fit for CareFirst’s 401(k) plan and will provide an improved experience for all part participants”.

Good Luck Today

If you are impacted by layoffs this week, remember it has little to do with your own performance. If you are retiring now, best of luck in your next chapter. If you are starting a search for a new role, wishing you the best of luck. Invest time in your search and resume building. Use your network. Be strong and resilient. This too shall pass. And you will be stronger!

Almost over, failing pip and ready to go at 50. They got me five years away from retirement.

Ok the pip plan was to improve me so me could stay supposedly. At my pip meeting last week I was told I was failing and I could take the PIL for one month that is left. I asked if I worked real hard and tried could I pass. I was told there was no way I could recover and pass. All my coworkers have distanced themselves from me and I am an outcast. My end date is at the end of November so I guess this is the end. There reasons for me not passing were insignificant and meaningless. My manager is a coward and only told me I was failing at the end. I told them I thought pip was supposed to help you improve and stay. I am being forced out and isolated. The manager told me why would you want to stay where are not wanted or liked. They want me to quit and sign a separation resignation letter. I told them no. I am ready to go and will start looking for a new job in 2026. It is evil the way the piped me at 50 years of age so I cannot get my retirement. I believe I can get my lump sum but it is heavily discounted.I was 5 years away from retirement but now have to look for a new job. Be careful they are heavily targeting 50 year olds. I and another 51 year old are being forced out this year. My pip was impossible to pass.
