Layoffs still happening...

Well so much for the change in posture with new "leadershits" as folks are still randomly getting tagged and Rif'd. No news, no word, just the same old quiet layoffs to help bolster someone's 10 Mil stock target as a reality and not a bad dream. Exit while you can.

Voluntary attrition essentially a "soft layoff”

Company has joined other major corporations in implementing a mandatory 5-day return-to-office (RTO) policy, which some view as a strategy to encourage voluntary attrition essentially a "soft layoff”.

Recent reports suggest that the number of employees choosing to leave following this mandate has been lower than expected, leading the company to evaluate additional measures for workforce reduction. These potential "other options" may include involuntary separations, employee engagement responses, or "hard layoffs." While the company continues to monitor office attendance as part of performance reviews, there are currently no specific details on which business units will be impacted or the exact timing of further restructuring.

Another Form of Quiet Layoffs

Cutting bonuses drastically by raising metrics incrementally every year, until they're just out of reach. Q1 2026 quarterly bonus dropped $1500 for me compared to other quarters and my performance increased this year. The base isn't the best, so you have to rely on bonuses to make up for it. All that makes people want to do it put in less effort, which I'll be doing.

Quiet layoffs

This wasn’t a mass layoff like the one in January, but a few one offs occurred today. My manager and our 2 leads had their roles eliminated today, we were told the news at 4:30pm. Only thing the AVP said was their roles had been eliminated after a thorough review of everyday duties. As if we weren’t already short handed, now the rest of us will be drowning.

Anyone have today's tally?

Nothing going on where I am. Based on the little info trickling in, seems like quiet layoffs this time. Not minimizing how awful it is for anyone impacted, just saying this round feels completely different from the last ones.

Quiet layoffs at CTC

Layoffs appear to have resumed at the Celle Technology Center. Unfortunately, there is no transparency regarding the scale of these reductions or the strategic path forward. It is disappointing to see the Works Council remain so quiet; At the very least, don’t they have a responsibility to inform the people they represent!

Quiet Cutting

TIAA does this: Quiet cutting is an employer strategy to reduce headcount indirectly by reassigning employees to less desirable, lower-paying, or less critical roles, hoping they quit voluntarily rather than facing direct layoffs, often disguised as "reorganization" or "redeployment" amidst economic uncertainty. It's a response to rising labor costs, creating an alternative to traditional firing. A--holes.

The quiet part of the recent layoffs

These workforce cuts are creating a deeper problem that isn't being discussed. We haven't been attracting top-tier talent for a long time because the word is out about how things work here. By letting some of our most capable people go and filling spots with unprepared new hires, PepsoCo is slowly dismantling its own future.

Quiet Layoffs

Those in management circles what are you hearing about the quiet layoffs going on? Management seems intent on making things so bad for employees with the wirthless 4 days in office, benefits cuts and sheer arrogance from leaders. This American company doesn't care about America anymore. Can we outsource our CEO?

Layoffs Clorox

Clorox is laying off; they are being careful to keep under 50 so they don't have to announce it to the public. It's done quietly a few here and there throughout the month (some this week, others next week, etc.). It's unfortunate that it's mostly the over 50 and long tenure that are being affective.

"Forever layoffs" and other ways to dodge the WARN act

Corporate America back to its old tricks.

The obfuscating language is always telling. Just like calling a janitor a sanitation engineer is a fiction meant to obscure the job, "forever layoffs, micro firings" and such are meant to hide the real thing.

NEVER keep your layoff a secret. Just like you should discuss your paycheck, and your employer cannot legally stop you, you should discuss when your employer lets you go so everyone can know that the company is avoiding their legal responsibilities for unemployment and severance.

What's happening in Aerosonic in CLWTR FL?

Lots of folks left. Limited hiring and mostly inexperienced temps. Remaining employees are severely overworked. Training is almost non-existent. Products failing constantly. It's like a layoff without a layoff, pushing people out and punishing those who remain.

Anyone know what's going on there?

Quiet layoffs by stress

It really feels like they’re trying to push people to quit instead of laying them off outright. The pressure constantly keeps building, workloads keep piling up, and eventually you just can’t take it anymore. As far as strategies go, I have to give them credit. This is the cheapest way of getting rid of us.

rto = quiet layoff

the return to office push is a quiet layoff.
during covid many companies massively overhired. now instead of cutting loose the talent, they’re quietly pressuring people back into offices under the guise of restoring culture.

here’s the real kicker. 73% of companies will require employees to be back in the office three or more days a week by the end of 2025. that’s nearly three quarters of businesses turning attendance into a subtle form of downsizing with no official layoffs... voila!

meanwhile employees are reminded that remote, which by the way consistently drives up retention and productivity, is on its way out. companies are reclaiming control of bodies, not necessarily delivering value… it’s a strategic squeeze, not a refocus. this isn’t about boosting performance instead it’s about trimming staff without triggering an hr mess.

and if you’re hearing more chatter about oh we want we’re an in office culture, then talking about your compensation, that my friend could be your warning. so if the execs insists you’re back 5 days a week or they’re dangling incentives for facetime, pause and ask urself: is this a culture reboot or just a quiet exit strategy.

Just look through the haze and fu-k them…
