Why are some departments always hit so hard? ISG/CSG for example

I always thought ISG = Inside Sales Group and CSG = Channel Sales Group, but apparently neither are sales related... Still don't know what they are but, why are those groups seemingly always hit so hard?

What did they do to pi-s off the Dell "gods?"

Changes

Are any other departments implementing new and far out there changes? Our department was told today no one can start work before 7am even though we follow EST and some of the team are in different time zones. I feel like they are trying to see who they can push out so they don’t have to pay severance.

Anyone get an email for a task to complete " Review Distribution of documents or Tasks" Titled Auto Expectation Document-Annual

Anyone get an email for a task to complete " Review Distribution of documents or Tasks" Titled Auto Expectation Document-Annual only to see if was canceled in WD.

Well it was seen prior to it being canceled. It's a zero tolerance policy with no exceptions. No reason to let you go. So here we go folks. Hold on the rides about to get bumpy as he-l....

DHS begins slashing FEMA disaster response staff as 2026 begins

The Trump administration is abruptly cutting dozens of staff who are at the forefront of disaster response and recovery at the Federal Emergency Management Agency this week, according to internal emails obtained by CNN and sources familiar with the plan.

Bait-and-Switch

I was hired as a software engineer…….

But now I’m being asked to do work that has nothing to do with the JD…….

I genuinely don’t know what to do. It barely feels real like who hires you for a full stack python software developer and then suddenly tells you to do data engineering work instead

Do I start looking for another job, or do I just su-k it up and move to another department ? Or is this just a company-wide bait-and-switch hiring practice?

Subscription Department getting noticed for lack of subscribers

And this is not going to help. Apparently, these people are not aware that many police departments don’t even respond to vehicle thefts, you are told to come into the police department to make a report. Sounds like desperation to appear like there is a subscription product there, The News didn’t even put it behind the paywall:

GN&T Musical Chairs

GN&T did their usual shuffle of ADs and SDs after the RIF. For those that are unfamiliar, once a year or once every few years, they shuffle ADs and SDs from one department that they’re unqualified to lead to another where they’re typically even less qualified. It’s one of the many brilliant strategies that have allowed the competition to catch up or even surpass VZ

More Org Changes in GCAS

GCAS moving to a functional accountability model, head of CIM APAC is gone and will be overseen by a US head. Honestly this is a good change because CIM APAC has been a disaster for years with no accountability or desire to follow required internal or regulatory processes.

Delaware Department of Labor launches strategy update

Currently, more than 6,500 unemployment claims remain pending, some dating back to February. To address this backlog, DOL is teaming up with Google AI and delivery partner Egen to build an interim process that consolidates claim information into a single system. The deployment of Google’s Adjudication Assistant, a GenAI solution, will help accelerate claim reviews.

Perplexity Answers Which Dept are at risk?

The departments and roles most at risk in Verizon’s current layoff wave are those in non-hub locations, remote-only roles, legacy functions, and middle management, with a particular emphasis on areas not directly tied to core business transformation or strategic platforms.[reuters +3]
High-Risk Departments and Roles
• Remote/Non-Hub Employees: Workers based outside core and business hub locations or those exclusively remote are the primary targets.[remio +2]
• Middle Management: Over 20% of management roles, especially those with duplicative functions or not clearly aligned with growth priorities, are flagged for reduction.[finalroundai +1]
• Legacy and Support Functions: Departments relying on old technologies, process-heavy support teams, and administrative roles—especially those made redundant by automation or digital platforms—face higher risk.[remio]
• IT Support and Operations: Routine IT, helpdesk, and non-strategic operations, particularly those not driving cost savings or transformation, are being streamlined.[remio]
• Finance, HR, and Shared Services: These centralized functions face consolidation, with job loss risk greatest for those outside highly specialized, strategic, or compliance-driven roles.[fortune +1]
• Sales in Declining Markets: Sales teams in underperforming or shrinking segments are seeing targeted reductions, especially if their territory overlaps with others or shows declining ROI.[deccanchronicle]
Safer (But Not Immune) Roles
• Employees in critical, revenue-driving, or transformation-aligned teams—especially in core hubs—are less likely to be cut, but all business areas are under some level of scrutiny this cycle.[reuters +1]
In summary, remote workers, non-hub office staff, duplicative middle managers, and those in legacy support areas face the highest layoff risk at Verizon during this restructuring.

Working overtime since the layoffs?

Since the layoffs, most of my department is working overtime. Others, like myself, are still working their 40 hour work week and letting the work be delayed. We haven't been told directly to work overtime, we're just expected to do more with less. They give us more than 40 hours worth of work with the expectations that we deliver on the same timelines as before, with the same pay of course.

I'm guessing this is common across all areas of the firm, but wanted to hear from others to confirm.
