Topics regarding layoffs at Cigna

You don't realize how bad it was until you're out

It's funny how you don't recognize the toxicity until you're free of it. At Cigna, just logging on each morning felt like wading through emotional quicksand, having to face the constant dread, the collective misery in every meeting. Now that I'm... — read more

Departure package request?

Optimism here…I remember hearing several years ago that employees could request that HR put together a departure package for voluntary separation. Does anyone know about the history of this, and, if true, if it’s still something that could occur? — read more

Failed leadership

Is anyone else tired of watching so-called leaders pretend problems don’t exist? Instead of actually addressing issues, it feels like they just ignore them and hope we all forget. At this point, I’m not even surprised anymore, just disappointed. How... — read more

JE day tomorrow?

Maybe we can get back to why this site was created instead of it being a general bi-ch session and reporting the news on people leaving. Is tomorrow a JE day? Will certain areas get hit hard again?

WAH Attestation

Look at section XV. They can demand inspections of our workspaces in our homes. Is this even legal?

Doing more with less will do all of us in

Cutting management? Fine. There are too many, and a lot don’t add real value. But cutting even more of the people who actually do the work? The ones who remain will eventually start dropping like flies, one by one. My team’s already been cut to the... — read more

Systems Down

We are going on hour 6 of the most important system for EBH calls being down with no resolution as of yet. Monday is obviously the busiest day of the week. Is this a result of tech layoffs, incompetence, or a combination of both? Of course, we’ve... — read more

Find a way to leave

I used to think the constant stress and chaos were just part of the job, at least until I left. Now, working somewhere with actual respect and professionalism, it’s like I woke up form a dream (more like a nightmare). Funny how you don’t realize how... — read more

Employee Assistance Line

As a victim of the Cigna layoffs and to add insult to injury, when you call the Employee Assistance Line you get someone in India who won’t transfer you to someone in the US for help regarding the end of your health insurance. That place is a... — read more

Changes for EBH

I’m on a coaching and support case management team. We found out the Coaching and Support product is merging with the 24/7 Clinical Navigation Team. Instead of the 9-5, M-F job we signed up for, we have been told to prepare for working evenings... — read more

Talent hires vs use of consultants.

As a relatively newer hire who was given the company line on talent hiring, I am not understanding our love affair with consultants. If we have been so focused on talent hiring as a philosophy, why do we continue to need consultant engagement after... — read more

The Path Forward

Hey everyone, to succeed we just need to roll up our sleeves and work hard, focusing on accountability and doing better, especially doing the hard work better. There are vague new initiatives that will help us be accountable and focused. They will... — read more

All teams thread 4/21

Surprised to see no thread to discuss the all teams town hall given that it was marketed a lot to attend in person in office.

Band 6: Unlimited PTO?!?!

I just saw several posts on the threads about a typical employee’s PTO policy that say the executive class has unlimited PTO now. If true, that’s so tone deaf it’s incredible. Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest. Also, if you’re reading this... — read more

New PTO Policy

Cigna is no longer paying out your unused PTO which is a convenient way to lower the cost of laying off employees. The trade off is that you do not have to pay back PTO that has not been earned. Main takeaway is If you are leaving on your own take... — read more

Another HORRIBLE policy change

Starting next year, Cigna plans to remove our 56 hour PTO rollover to only allow us to carry over 24 hours. Also not going to pay out any PTO if we’re fired or quit. Thanks for removing another freedom! Can it get any worse??

More layoffs coming outside of IT

Another round in April - and again (another round) first week of May. These will be outside of IT and may impact all areas in small chunks. In June there may be another but they haven’t confirmed.

We’re just numbers waiting to be cut

It’s brutal out here. Every round of “cost-saving measures” just means more work dumped on whoever’s left. They slash teams but expect the same output, like we’re just supposed to magically do twice as much. At this point, it’s not even about... — read more
