Got my VSP email today

I can’t wait to be outta here. Good luck to those of you who are staying around.

Wondering if Miss Sweden is next?

After all, she hyped Verizon 3.0 a few months back, and has yet to deliver anything. Wouldn’t that have been a major part of her Goals and Objectives for the year. Come to think of it, wouldn’t it have been for all Senior management? Fire their... — read more

Future RIFs

Just overheard a manager discussing individual volunteer hours being weighted as part of future RIF calculations.

The VSP is just the beginning

Anyone else read Hans’ email and find that ominous? I know rifs are anticipated but this paints a dark picture. Leaving is very bittersweet but knowing that the work is just going to be piling on for those who stay make it a bit sweeter. Sending out... — read more

Dec 20 Departure payout

Since they say the severance check comes a few weeks after last day worked, will those off in Dec get the payout in Jan ? Or will they rush it to get it in 2024 ?

Low VSP take rate

I heard that the final number for VSP was about half of what they wanted to get so a RIF will be here before the end of the month. Anyone have any good info on this? Wouldn’t a large RIF have to be reported prior to it happening?

Just got my call for Departure

My manager just made me aware of my release date of 9/13. I will get the official email tomorrow. Good luck to each of you that took the VSP, And good luck to each of you that are staying.

ESP or RIF, ESP is a no brainer

If Verizon cannot find any value for you, and they RIF you out, take the ESP and run. For me, it was close to 1.7 times the severance + 1.5 times the benefits. If they don't see value in my services, I will be glad to find somebody that will.

A once great American company

Back when the CEO and the majority of execs/upper management were Americans. VZ has been in a death spiral since 2018 when it was taken over by a Swedish meatball (fired from his prev CEO job) and Indian execs who only care about replacing American... — read more

Work force reduction?

Is it true Verizon promised share holders they would reduce the work force in an attempt to bring up stock prices. If so does this include non management employees

Using Vacation up to VSP date

Is it OK to use Vaction time up till the 9/13 date? (Assuming one has enough and doesn’t care about the payout for it) I didn’t see anything specifically addressing this in the 401 page document about VSP71

VSP dates

Hi I wanted to leave on September not December, and from what I heard from this forum, HR and senior leadership will decide the dates. Is it better to reach out to HRBP that I am interested to leave early, does that make sense?

# of employees at VZ

Number of employees at Verizon 2007 - 2023. https://www.statista.com/statistics/257304/number-of-employees-at-verizon/ Numbers are trending down. It’s not a matter of “if” it’s a matter of “when”

The culture is gone

Verizon was once a great company. That has changed. Employees are expected to barely get by. The mindset of leadership is that every single person is replaceable and that they don’t bring any individual value. There are times you hear one of... — read more

Good luck to all

For those leaving, good luck in retirement or finding your next adventure. For those staying, good luck as well since unfortunately you will be dealing with the aftermath. Verizon was never Verizon Wireless, and Verizon Wireless was NEVER Verizon. ... — read more

Historical RIF severance question

For the VSP they offered STI and the RSU. For the standard RIF packages this year were those included as well? Is the extra week per service year the only enhancement in the VSP? Why you ask? Because I did not take the VSP because the only... — read more

Are we headed down this path?

“Ericsson rejected a report recently that said it was inflating sales by booking revenue before clients were invoiced. Shares have tanked as a result, and the proposed solution has been to slash up to 25,000 jobs.”

Some admin offices closing

I heard Chesapeake among them. Too many remote workers not willing to show up. Others on list as well. RIFs coming as well to meet 2024 reductions.

Don’t take it personal

I see too many posts here with people complaining and whining about Verizon doing layoffs and offering the VSP. To most companies you can be replaced tomorrow, so why are you all crying about being so loyal to a company and questioning how they can... — read more

Are there any field tech eips

Has any field technicians (lineman, Spicer installation maintenance) received an enhanced retirement package. If what states, and has anyone heard if New York is going to get one?

vsp

got my confirmation today that my payment will be deferred to my 401k for 2025 off the books in September

VSP - better offers or layoffs round?

Apparently not enough people went for VSP. There is a school of thought that there will be better VSP offered, and the one claiming that additional cleanup will be conducted via layoffs. Anyone have any ideas or information on how this will be... — read more

Chances of VSP getting denied by HR?

Hello everyone - I know there are a lot of speculations now, but really want to know the chances of the VSP getting denied by HR. My situation - top performer of my group, young, low tenure ( less than 7 years ) + low pay comparing to other folks on... — read more

VSP - Retire or Another Job?

Curious how many VSP takers look at this as just leaving Verizon to definitely work again somewhere else, or as pure retirement. I see it as separating from VZ and plan to use the year to see what else is out there even though I'm at early retirement... — read more
