Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Everyone

I don't care if you are union or management. I don't care if you are wireline or wireless. I don't care if you work in HQ or in you home. I dont care which political party you support. I hope that everything works out for all of us.

Without Verizon making a huge change we are all on a sinking ship.I’m not sure anyone realizes that there are a lot of union & nonunion management & non-management on wireless/wireline who are actually friends .Some are family!!So this sc rew the other guy is a minority. The fact is while there are a few who do have money from good investment or life choices !!! it’s actually rare .Some the guys in our group like to brag but we know their full of it .We all have had huge expenses ,families and mistakes. Most of us on all sides departments are here to make money .Unfortunately it only took a few at the very top to continuously make bad decisions and line their pockets behind the scenes. All while pitting us all against each other .Seems to be the American way right now let the bottom fight over the scraps with each other .I have been on both sides and can say I hope to do a few more years and get out .I won’t be rich may even need to work elsewhere for a bit but sometimes enough is enough

I don’t quite have 30 yet, but I’ll be staying til my mortgage is done in a few years. I can’t imagine there will be any craft layoffs. They don’t have enough people as it is.

@ag it's easy to explain why some people say after 30 years. I married a tw-t waffle, divorced her and have to pay alimony till I'm 67. Not going anywhere unless I have to

You all keep acting like there will be some option. The numbers are the numbers and all groups have gotten them. They just have to put names in the slots for the 20th. This is going to be a Verizon wide massive cut and if you even think you are anywhere near the bottom performers in your groups, you should start preparing now.

I care if you took the pulse survey. Please do so we have 100% participation to please the armies of overlapping managers. You asked and we listened. We love our vteamers! We’re family. Go beyond!

@a4 not the union guy with 40 years falsely attributing his “proactive readiness” to surviving layoffs… seniority and seniority alone protects your position. The more you survive, the more likely you are to survive as your tenure goes up. That’s just math.

It’s not the responsibility of a guy with 30 years to leave his job so a new guy keeps his job. Not the way it goes. I personally think people in the mid 30-40 years of service should go enjoy retirement, but up to them

Has a package been offered yet? Don’t think so. Also you don’t know peoples financial situations, maybe they can’t afford to leave right now.

@a4 will you be taking the package? Can you explain what makes someone with 30 years not take a package and put the newer guys at risk?

40 year Bell system Veternan….lesson is you need to be proactive in your career. I experienced over 10 significant RIFs, 6 Union strikes… it always came down to being proactive and not rely on a network of people that focus on themselves. Leadership has left the Vz culture. Hope Dan goes back to his New Jersey Bell/AT&T early years for guidance

I would argue political parties matter? Largest layoffs in a decade. Just saying
