Do ADs and SDs really know the names of people on their teams?

Not normally at certain levels, former Band 7 field..
Staff mtgs once our ED moved to director in the past, he wrote down the names on notebook where we sat.
Intentionally we moved seats.
Mind you the “leaders” only generally care about Red/Yellow/Green..
So the crew in the boat doesn’t matter to them.
@1yx they are. that's what they did in the past 3 weeks: caring for their jobs and promote themselves inside and outside the company
@ch but these VPs reply every night on LinkedIn and post a bunch of nonsense that makes them look desperate
Yes, for those who need to know. So if you're a VP/AVP or SD, and do not know, you are likely on the list. Additionally, all names have been submitted, and it's pencils down.
I have just been notified by the senior director they claimed they don’t know anything which is kind of hard to believe who was actually making these decision decisions
Yes people already know. Who is this 🤡
@at Your SD told you all the names of the people being let go across all their teams?
@c3 And you know this because your an AD and your boss gave you the percentage? There is so much speculation on this site.
@ch we have leaders in this company that delegate their PowerPoint presentations and that’s really their only tangible deliverables
I’m not sure it will end. We have VPs who do not understand (even after being told) and just want to push for things to be automated. No matter the cost. Clueless leaders.
@az "The India team had no prior understanding of the function at all. They got a deadline for a project that would normally be delivered in 2-4 months. They missed the deadline for two years."
It's this kind of "performance" that MUST end. Inexcusable for these people to be so asleep at the switch when delivery teams are failing this badly.
Most ADs will not yet know although they will know percentage
I am an AD and I knew BC that AC was going to be RIF'd Sometimes the SVP has the information but that was before GNP was reduced by 1/8 HC. I was told that it is based upon how much you volunteered band logged your hrs but that was by HR. The worst thing that anyone could do is panic yet more and more I see playoffs from other companies and can only think about the bloodbath that we are about to face. Personal integrity means nothing when I cannot feed my family. I wish I would have never taken this management position.
Band 5’s know who is on the list. Band 6 people leaders only know if their band 5 chose to tell them off the record.
I work with 5 different SD regularly as part of my job. I report to one, a good one. However, one of the SDs is a very low performer and knows nothing about what his organization does, he fires the good people and promotes the bad. Waists his budget on business activities that don’t matter. He only got hired into his role because his VP likes him and he just spends the day su-king up to his peers and the VP. But no matter how much people like him, it can be glaringly obvious at times even to the VP he is a low performer with no handle on his organization.
Ex. He fired all the people who ran a function inside his organization because he thought he could just have his India team do it. The India team had no prior understanding of the function at all. They got a deadline for a project that would normally be delivered in 2-4 months. They missed the deadline for two years. After being delivered two years late, the product they delivered is a mess and is basically unusable. It’s impacting everything across the entire company because the entire company uses this thing including customers.
You think he’s gone? Or he staying because his relationship with the VP?
@a7 they are lying since they had to come up with the names. they were given the number based on the percentage assigned to the department by their Sr. Dir/VP
AD here and I haven’t been told who or how many. Nerve wrecking for me and my team.
I'm an AD and I know the names all the teams reporting to the same sr. Dir including mine
I’m an AD, and I don’t know anything. Not sure if that’s a good or bad sign…
I am an AD and I know the names. Not sure if every AD knows but if you were in our shoes you will feel the weight of seeing someone that will not be with the team anymore but you pretend you know nothing as we have been asked not to share anything before 11/20
@OP Good question. Not sure but maybe they were given a number or percent to cut.
So weird. My Director (not Sr Director) is 100% people first and tells my small team stuff we shouldn’t know all the time. She swears “I’ve asked the Sr Director multiple times and Sr Director swears they know nothing and says ‘I’m wondering if I’m on the list too’”.
I don’t think every AD/Director knows what’s up.
Yes, my SD and AD know the names of every person on the team.
They know how many they have to cut, now they have to fill those spots with names
I think they do but no one wants to admit it
