Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Any Info on Wireline?

Yes we have issues, yes there’s a lot of people doing a lot of nothing. I know mass layoffs in the union are unlikely but does anyone know what sort of restructuring we might see?

Construction does nothing? Where did all this Fios come from? Fiber to cell sites? Copper Mining? Pole replacement? I think you’re all a little confused. Apparently, it’s upper management who do a whole lot of nothing. And when they do things, they do them poorly. Good Luck Everyone.

Svc tech here and the last time we slowed down in the winter was 2020. Usually by November-December we're doing routines, until around march and then it all gets insane again. That all ended 5 years ago, and now we've been busy, nonstop 365 days a year. So, yes, OP.. please, inform us where this is where people are "doing a lot of nothing"... In other words, you're not in maintenance, you're in construction, where "doing a lot of nothing" has been going on for 50 years. Wanna do something? Come over to the maintenance side, we need the bodies.

@at Your knowledge of the COT job wouldn't fill up a thimble. If you're angry because you're in fear of getting laid off I'm sorry, but you're directing your anger in the wrong direction. The problem is in the upper levels of management that make one terrible decision after another and then leave the company many millions of dollars richer.

There’s slow areas and there’s busy areas. Some job titles are busier than others. I’m not saying everyone’s in the same situation, I was just stating what I’ve seen. Obviously people covering busier areas do a lot more. For better or for worse we all get roughly the same pay. The point of the post was whether or not we’ll be affected by any of these “big changes”coming.

Waaa, “ I cover 4 buildings alone”. If that means you are a COT, it’s about time you had to do something

I smell BS here. If you're doing nothing I'd love to know geographically where you are, because I'm covering 4 buildings ALONE on a regular weekday.

@OP I’m thinking repetitive tasks that can be replaced by AI or machine learning.
