manager in ISG here... there is a report that comes out listing connection time and end time for ip and associated nt login. but the report ist really looked at because most sites do a vpn into the corp network..
in my experience the vpn/ ip reporting is only looked at if a WFR is coming or if we want to get rid of someone. its another tool in the tool belt to get someone out the door.
everything is tracked yes... but not really looked at unless there is cause.. just read the login warning on your laptop..
@hx So how does it work with all if our laptops forced to use VPN even when connected to the wired network in the office?
This is automatically determined based on the connection:
Internal IP: indicates you are in the office
VPN IP: indicates you are working remotely
If the question is whether these logs can be used, the answer depends on the country and its applicable laws.
@dj No, more like until their VP asks for the reports. THEN they will suddenly "care."
Which is what's so stupid about the entire thing. I 100% guarentee you that none of the VP's or higher want to go into office but because of their title, they literally have to. I know the President and our SVP go into office daily bc I see them. How long they stay I have no idea but, so long as our orgs President is pressured by his boss - which I believe is Rothburg, who is under JC; then it's a trickle down effect.
Even our President and SVP don't genuinely care if we go in or not, and 99% of directors absolutely don't gaf but again... JC cares - "apparently"
@dj director's do fu-k all except collect a paycheck.
@be It absolutely is still being tracked and every team's badge swipe stats are included in a monthly report that is auto-generated and sent to directors. From what I have seen the reports are mostly ignored until your director has a slower day (they're usually way to busy to care) and/or they get curious. If they don't like what they see they contact your direct manager for an explanation. If the director doesn't like the explanation theb action is taken, usully in the form of a PIP.
IMPO, I dont think it's being "tracked" by leadership anymore.
What I do think is that we will never know and that's exactly what they want. They spent the last year+ harping on being in office and making sure we are in office, and like the good sheep we all are, we obeyed! They now know people are in fear of NOT going in, therefore people WILL go in; even if they literally dgaf and aren't monitoring site visits. They basically conditioned us with fear to do what they want.
But I really don't think leadership is monitoring anymore.
@ax Well workday is dead and gone but, you aren't wrong.
Of course it's being tracked - it ALWAYS has been, and always will be - but was never made public or like, monitored until last year. But it's always been tracked.
The official RTO policy as of May 4th states
"When we transitioned to the enterprise platform (ODW), individual and leader dashboards on workday were retired. However, the expectation remains the same: if you are designated as an onsite member, you are expected to work a regular day from your dell office 5 days/week. While attendance will not be actively shared at the individual/leader leve, this expectation is non-negotiable."
So take that as you will... I'm not really sure how to take that tbh.
I was telling my previous manager that even if dell stops monitoring, they won't tell us bc they already have us trapped in the "fear" mode; and as soon as ppl know they aren't monitoring, nobody will go into office.
So, for all anyone knows they literally aren't monitoring this cr-p anymore - and IMO, i dont think they are.
But, better safe than sorry... i dont mind going in for a few hours but I dont make it a ritual to do so 5 days/week, either.
No one cares. My floor is always empty.
Idk about now, but they definitely dont care about ip. Maybe they collected it before, but they defo didnt actually care. I got sizeable raises and rsu's coffee badging
@ac Just because it isn't being published in workday dies not mran that thete isn't a report being generated somewhere.
It's always been tracked (via badge swipes and PC logins), but it isn't being proactively reported anywhere right now. I assume managers/execs can ask for it if they want
