The time in office thing is about a)Corporate real estate - the company is paying to lease/own/operate the buildings so they want us to use them, and b) productivity - the company is paying you therefore they expect you to do the work for which you are paid, and they don’t trust that you’re actually doing the work, and don’t trust managers to manage productivity.

They want to keep their jobs. Why is the org pushing it? To harass you into leaving / give them evidence to terminate for cause.

The entire RTO strategy is about attrition. End of story.

Because the company needs to get rid of people due to overhriing and a not insignificant number of employees have been getting paid to do practically nothing, including not showing up for work.

Because they have not yet learned that without solidarity, the boss can just pick us off one by one; they mistake acquiescence for safety.

The use of AI where I am has too many guardrails to even produce a usable product. This is one instance where I am definitely not willing to help.

@b4 You are right. Thanks for correcting me. She is not only in Risk, but also at Risk :-) With so many people complaining about her in so many threads, her time will come soon. Her boss cannot protect her for too long; otherwise, it is not fair for other hard working people.

I just listened to a Wall Street discussion on AI. Bottom like is they are saying that this we are in an era similar to the Industrial Revolution with Automation taking over factory jobs. Now of course it is AI but this time most of our jobs will be obsolete. So the 8% cuts for AI is likely. The recommendation if you want to be employed is UPSKILL and make sure you are in a position that AI can’t replace. Seeing what AI can do i am not sure who couldn’t be replaced and that would include anyone in middle management or professional roles. Charlie and the c suite will be the only humans safe.

If you are young and you have 20 or more years get a new education. If you are over 40 you may want to get out of a big company that can afford AI like WF. You likely will be fighting to maintain a job until it is clear it doesn’t exist based on your skill set

Simple there are too many managers and AI can do most of their job.

Because they’re human too and don’t want to lose their jobs, even if they don’t agree.

because they have to and they don't want to get lower than meets on their year end reviews. most managers don't like it any more than we do, but it is what it is.
