Boaz, AL Layoffs (Oct 2025)

Federal-Mogul laid off 80+ people in Boaz.

  • Federal-Mogul Closure: Federal-Mogul Motorparts announced it will close its Boaz, Alabama manufacturing plant on September 25, 2025, impacting 82 employees.
  • Economic Reasons: The company cited economic pressures as the primary reason for the shutdown, despite efforts to maintain operations.
  • Employee Support: Affected workers will receive severance packages and outplacement assistance, according to the company’s statement.
  • Corporate Background: Federal-Mogul, acquired by Tenneco in 2018 and now operating under DRiV, is headquartered in Michigan with facilities across multiple U.S. states and 13 other countries.

The Boaz closure adds to a string of recent layoffs in Alabama, including workforce reductions at Boeing Huntsville and AT&T Alabama.

Teams Outsourced?

If this forum is a reflection of layoffs, it almost appears IT have been decimated by layoffs much more than other teams. Can I ask which IT teams have definitively been outsourced? Also, which other teams have had meaningful layoffs? Doesn’t seem to be that many outside Operations.

If the rumors are correct, Verizon’s 'bold' new direction may apparently include mass layoffs

Android Authority (link below)

Rumors suggest Verizon will announce layoffs and store closures around November 20, though details remain unconfirmed. The company reportedly plans to shut down less-profitable stores and cut staff across remaining locations, while expanding AI automation to fill the gaps. It’s unclear if other big changes will be announced around this time, though it’s possible that there’s more to this coming shift than just layoffs.
Last week, I wrote an opinion about the current state of Verizon, as well as some of the moves it might need to make to right the ship. I also mentioned it seemed obvious that store closures would be part of this process and that Verizon’s situation would likely get worse before it got better. It seems this may be happening sooner rather than later, as rumors of imminent closures are flying around on online communities like Reddit and The Layoff. Likewise, a few publications have also picked up on the rumors, such as Phone Arena.

First, it’s important to be clear about this: none of the people I spoke to had specific details, only reports from their managers suggesting layoffs are on the way and likely to be announced on November 20. These cuts will reportedly include both complete store closures and staff reductions in locations that remain open. I also learned of an internal email from the new CEO late last month stating that the company will take “bold actions to make the company leaner,” which was similar to the remarks made during the company’s last earnings call. Like the previous call, the email offered no specifics.

From what little has surfaced, Verizon is expected to close underperforming corporate locations while “optimizing” those that stay open. The total number of affected stores remains unknown. There are also rumors that AI automation will play a larger role in the surviving stores, allowing them to operate with smaller staffs. For those unaware, this sounds somewhat similar to T-Mobile’s recent in-store changes that rely on T-Life.

Verizon has already embraced AI, so this part of the rumor isn’t all that surprising.

Earlier this summer, the company unveiled Project 624, an overhaul of its customer service using AI to streamline the experience. It also introduced an automated shopping tool that attempted to upsell me during a recent line addition for my son. Based on that, I’m skeptical that AI-driven retail changes will do anything other than accelerate the decline of Verizon’s brick-and-mortar business.

Further changes beyond closures and automation are possible, but we’ll have to wait until later in the month to know more. It’s also important to remember this is all rumor for now, and is subject to change.

After last week layoff message to current employees

You have seen over the past 2 years thousands of employees being laid off. Multiple locations/sites have been shut down. Low salary increase. Management has no plan or vision to grow. If I were in your shoes as a current employee, I would stick to the minimum rule. Rule of working zero weekends, OT, or going above and beyond at my job. It is a matter of time before you will be next on the list that will save some money for the company.

Layoffs coming to Oxy!!! Test the direction and resolve of new COO and refresh Oxy (people, culture, assets)

A few weeks ago thee question of layoffs was posed. The response was VH promised no Layoffs and we are lean and mean…

The street and influential groups think Oxy is stale and requires a rebrand both within its teams and its assets. A definition of what Oxy is and where it’s going.

We have since learned about VSPs, HR looking at Reservoir and Subsurface for poor performance, offshore competitors actively looking at non core offshore assets.

For those 6hat doubted about Layoffs and massive transformation what’s your new opinions?

MDs (Weed) Last few weeks

Many MDs will disappear from Outlook in the next 3 to 4 weeks, Sr Managers tooooooooooooo, this will be the last celebration for this year by "J" and J is going on vacation to celebrate her AI Certifcation and she will start mowing the rest of the Sr Employees (weeds) from 2nd week of Jan 2026

Thanks Ken Cook - 100s of stores closing, Corporate is the next target. Nobody's job is safe.

  • Wendy's plans to close about 300 stores nationwide beginning in late 2025
  • The closures represent a mid single-digit percentage of the chain's 6,000 U.S. locations
  • Interim CEO Ken Cook announced the plan during a November 7 investor call
  • The decision follows the earlier closure of 140 Wendy's locations in the previous year
  • Closures will target underperforming restaurants that hurt franchisee profitability
  • Some locations may be improved or transferred to new operators instead of closing
  • The exact list of stores affected has not yet been released
  • Closures are set to begin in the fourth quarter of the year
  • Wendy's reported a 4.7 percent drop in same-store sales and a 2.6 percent global sales decline in Q3
  • The company aims to strengthen brand performance and financial health through these actions

Revitalizing Verizon: A Call for Local Investment and True Leadership

As a dedicated employee with over two decades of service in Verizon's Global Technology Services (GTS), I've weathered countless layoffs and economic shifts, proving my commitment and resilience. I'm no benchwarmer—I've poured my energy into this company, and it's heartbreaking to watch talented, hardworking colleagues depart year after year. My own time may come soon, but I'm not deterred; I'll land on my feet with a great opportunity. What truly saddens me is the thought of leaving Verizon in its current state, as I'm deeply passionate about our customers and the potential we hold.
Through my experiences, I've observed patterns in leadership that undermine our strength. When leaders aren't rooted in this country—even if they're citizens—they often lack a deep connection to its values and economy. They surround themselves with like-minded individuals who prioritize loyalty over innovation, creating echo chambers of "yes-men" rather than diverse, challenging teams. In GTS, the prevailing strategy seems limited to layoffs and rebadging, with little investment in developing talent here in the U.S. While global recruitment for top skills is essential, it shouldn't come at the expense of local communities. You hire an American employee,he buys car in local dealship who in turn buy Verizon services. True economic growth thrives on a cycle: Hire locally, and those employees become customers who fuel the business.
The principle is simple: Be local and stay local. If we're expanding hiring in India, we must pair it with strategies to grow revenue there—selling services and building markets to create a balanced, self-sustaining ecosystem. Unfortunately, this shortsighted approach is spreading beyond GTS into our Business Organization, where Indian leaders are bringing in H1B visa holders as Directors and Senior Directors from VDSI India. Many of these appointees lack strong technical expertise or effective communication skills, yet they rise due to unquestioning allegiance rather than merit.
I hope this trend reverses. Our CEO has the opportunity to champion a bold vision: Prioritizing American talent, fostering genuine diversity, and investing in people who drive innovation. With or without me, Verizon can emerge stronger. I love my job and this company dearly—let's rally behind leaders who can guide us out of this mess and toward a brighter future.

Joining EJ in Research Department.

I am joining EJ in couple of weeks and really worried about layoffs. I am leaving my current job to join EJ. There is pay bump in this job at EJ but I am afraid that the work load is too much and not sure how much is the bonus. They said the bonus for senior director is anywhere from 35-60% and I will be at level 15 and the next level is senior partner. How are the bonuses in the research department and do they pay good bonuses.?

Voluntary Buyouts - Good Idea?

Hot take but since Nike is over staffed why not offer a buyout option? Over 10 years and certain levels of age just let them volunteer and avoid the noise. Other companies are doing it. Google again. That would be a positive all team announcement for many. EH said he only wants people here who want to be here and that’s a great way to help navigate the crossroads.

Layoffs for “efficiency” = Cover for failing offshoring disaster?

For 5+ years, Wells Fargo has run an ambiguous layoff machine under the banner of “efficiency,” with quarterly severance accruals ($750M–$1B in 2023 alone) and global headcount slashed from ~268,000 (2019) to 217,000 (2024)—a net loss of ~51,000 souls. Meanwhile, India/Philippines ops ballooned: ~10,000 hires during the pandemic, VP-level Risk/Compliance roles offshored (requiring FINRA licenses), and threads here scream “All India Project.” U.S. employees train replacements in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Manila, then get the axe. Identity theft teams to Manila, compliance VPs to India—classic knowledge transfer before the pink slip. RTO mandates, hub consolidations , non-backfill policies, and location strategy force quits or relocations, masking the real goal: cheap offshore labor. It’s the account scandal 2.0—unethical cost-cutting, abuse shifted from customers to employees. No genuine restructuring; just coercion in “wagile” clothing. Signs it’s failing? India hiring freeze + 400 cuts in 2025, Chennai shutdown—optimization after U.S. displacement backfired with expertise loss (EPL flops, SSIS relics, cloud messes). Psychological safety? Zero. Teams? Ghosts. Innovation? Dead. Ethics demand shareholder scrutiny—until the next crisis exposes the rot. Document everything, join Wells Fargo Workers United, file EEOC if biased. Upskill (tuition reimbursement for certs and training), quietly quit, job search—JPMorgan’s building fearless AI teams (30% costs down, 20% sales up). Read The Fearless Organization. My mission: fearless workplaces. There’s a better option! #WellsFargo #OffshoringFail #FearfulBank

How will the government's attacks on healthcare impact us?

"why are we sending billions in subsidies to insurance companies when we could just give the money directly to Americans to choose their own healthcare"

Houston office soon to get hit with a round of layoffs?

With whispers of the Blue Hydrogen project pushing out FID, that project keeps the lights on at the Houston office. If the project is mothballed, what other projects are on the horizon to keep the Houston office busy?

With oil prices dropping, green energy subsidies drying up, and large capex projects getting pushed further and further out, its going to be a game of musical chairs to remain billable. I don't see any other way around a wave of layoffs.

Top this off with their new focus on GID/low-cost-center engineering (offshoring) it seems like Worley is gearing up to whack the majority of their Houston engineering division, and have it only be there to simply check the work of GID, and GID will be at the driver seat for most projects.

Am I right, or am I right?

This week hit hard

More people gone. Good people — who gave a lot and deserved better. And the message to the rest of us? “Stay positive. Be agile. ”I’m tired of hearing that. This doesn’t feel normal to feel trust being chipped away and a culture that doesn’t feel the same anymore.

We’re supposed to smile and adapt. But it’s hard to find inspiration in watching good people disappear while everyone else pretends we’re going to be fine.

Sometimes the truest thing a leader can say is just this: it really su-ks right now.

Round 3 of Outsourcing confirmed

Received reputable information that a 3rd round and most likely more to follow is confirmed. At this point if you’re under Chris Lepre and haven’t received an NDA offer to be part of the long term retooling and full infrastructure and operations outsourcing you aren’t part of the plan you’re part of the discarded. Tough spot to be in to decide whether to jump now and miss a severance or ride it out but unfortunately your fate has already been determined. This place has become so entirely different and Sharps and his mishmash lead team from other failed businesses is to blame.

More layoffs incoming at Latigo Petroleum

“I think what [oil producers] are seeing right now, especially with the flooding going on by OPEC+, means you’re not going to see much more activity than what we’re doing right now. The production side seems to be staying busy, but if you’re in the drilling side, there’s been a lot of layoffs going on there,” described Kirk Edwards, President of Latigo Petroleum.

If you’re let go, consider yourself lucky

It’s 100% confirmed that Associates in the US and India are being let go this week. Which day depends on your team and location. Those left behind will wish they were let go. The confusion, toxicity, and expected hours you’ll be working is going to get even worse. Much much worse.

Remember that this is all being done to reduce costs and try to raise the stock price. Dont blame yourself. Take the money and run.

Heads up: NVWs are next

If you’re still classified as a virtual worker, you’re in the crosshairs. Notices are starting to go out that NVWs will be required to “follow the work” and RTO full-time in Dallas, Atlanta, or New Jersey depending on org. My source says the plan is to eliminate all remaining virtual roles before year-end with any remaining to move and RTO by June 2026 or terminate.

Don’t assume you’re safe, they’ve already pushed out some of the best and most experienced people here. Titles and “essential” status won’t save anyone. This is your warning since the company won’t give you one.
