Looking for guidance

I’m being asked to relocate as part of RTO to a location where my current skillset does not have long-term scope in ATT, so I chose to go to HQ that may offer more internal opportunities and some extended family support.

Now I’m second-guessing the decision. The move is coming up soon, and I’m worried about relocating my family only to face a layoff later because it is not the assigned location as per new presence indicators. What to do?

Relocation Terms

For those that were offered relocation, what were the terms?

How long between relocation acceptance and requirement to show up at new location?
Assume you didn’t actually have to move your residence, correct?
How long do you have to stay with Wells Fargo post relocation?
If you don’t stay the required time, is the payback of relocation $ prorated or is it 100%?

(No need to share $ amounts)

There’s no way I’m relocating for this job

You’re supposed to throw your savings at moving costs, uproot your whole life and your family, just to lose the job a few months later anyway? No chance. This push feels like a strategy to get us to quit. Agreeing to relocate just makes you a more expensive nuisance to cut later. I understand people are holding onto their jobs for dear life right now, but relocating likely won’t save yours. It’ll just add financial ruin to the stress.

FedEx plans to shut down its Wichita Falls site this February

FedEx announced it will close its Ship Center on Southridge Drive in Wichita Falls on Feb. 28. Employees were notified several months in advance and offered job placement assistance, including transfers to nearby FedEx locations or relocation support. The company did not say how many workers will be impacted.

Is anyone actually willing to relocate?

Relocation is insanely costly these days, and the chances of keeping your job after uprooting yourself and your family are extremely low. It’s just another attrition tactic. Refusing to relocate plays into leadership’s hands, but going along with it is even more senseless.

Berkley Heights NJ

I see people relocated to berkley heights from all other states including countries, for what? for their stock value to drop over 70% , work in the noisy office 9 hours 3 days, and waste time, most of the products are legacy and need atleast 7 to 10 people to keep them running, no innovation, and they make it look as if they are one of those trillion $ companies like Faang or Nvidia, VP's and SVP's just satisying egos , giving 1- 2 % increments to people working 12 hours a day to keep the lights on, That is fiserv. product managers non stop talking from 8 to 8 with zero innovation, and knowledge , may be they wanna retire here doing mundane work.

If you are a GM'er and worried about being layed-off why not beat GM at the games, they play with people and quit your job

and move to West Virginia to become a Coal Miner. All the Mines in West Virginia are hiring coal miners at all levels, entry-level, mid-level, and senior coal miners. There's plenty of over-time to be had if that is what you are looking for too.

I did this two years ago and never looked back after moving from Michigan to West Virginia. I work 50 hours Monday through Friday and spend the weekends outdoors either fishing, hunting, hiking and camping. I don't miss my old GM job at all.
