Physical presence 2-3 days a week

I see people coming into the office before lunch and leave office before 3 pm. Sometimes it makes me wonder if they are really "working." I also see people in their office glue to their work computer for HOURS with the lights OFF = ALL of them were SAFE on this round. Maybe we should follow their pattern to survive

Malicious Compliance

What are ways to in all technicality adhere to RTO rules to the letter, without breaking rules, but still fighting the micromanagement mandates?

Some Ideas
Boycott TTUS

Log into office early (in office IP tracking) and run errands in the morning. Long lunch breaks while logged in.

Requiring your manager to attend all meetings in conference rooms (in person collaboration is important!)

Being in office only the exact minimum required. Tbd - maybe 6.5 hours?

Switching seats every day with reservations in Reserve me and kicking people out of their seat they forgot to reserve

It would be a shame if someone brought one of those fa-t sprays and it accidentally went off or if someone accidentally left fresh fish they had planned for lunch in a drawer over a weekend.

The number is 6!

I didn’t fully connect the dots a couple weeks ago but our leader made sure we saw the update to the in office goal on Workday, and that it meant full days which was at least 6 hours. I didn’t think much of it until yesterday when we saw all of the discrepancies. The tracked number is over 6 hours which they will never tell you because they want 8.

AWS Austin Culture Question

Long time Dell person here (20 years). I'm looking at applying for a job with AWS in Austin. Curious what the culture is like. And I get it...one devil to another. But I am single income house and need to afford to live and save. And for what it is worth I am okay with going into an office 5 days a week. Just curious how it's done at AWS Austin.

Some questions:
Are desks/cubes assigned?
Do cubes have walls at least?
5 days on-site or hybrid?
Do they track badge scans openly? (Dell does...created a tool for us too)

What is the review cycle like? Annual? Are there bonuses tied to annual review? What do percentages look like?

Anything else I should know?

AHHHH It's Friday 1 and done, time to go home.

Averaging over 8 hours for the first 4 days of the week. I subtract that from my Friday hours so I average only 40 hours for the week. Just about time to go. I love the new culture that Stank has created. Have a great weekend. Remember, the Masters is next week so be sure to get bring in your personal tablet to watch from your desk on Thursday!

Changes to the tech org

For those working in tech, does anyone have the inside scoop of what changes are on the horizon? I heard they are cracking down on being in the office X amount of hours per day, new desks are being built on the tech floors, lots of leadership has left and the ones who have remained some have been shuffled around.

Virtual status

is it safe to assume this status remains for at least next 2 years until Plano campus is built? I really need to get my family out of rental situation and I was curious if anybody is doing the same this year in a non hub location. If not what else are you doing with your current homes?

Layoffs guaranteed. Management begging you to quit. And yet not one mention of unionizing. You deserve whats coming.

The message has been clear for month now in the entirety of underwriting. Move to claims or gtfo. All this worry about going in office more next year. brother, you’ll be gone by October lmao. Get on the same page about creating a union or just accept whats coming like the good little sheep you are. Out the Farm and out to pasture.

RTO - New Requirements. Is it True?

6-Hour Minimum Requirement for In-Office Time
Effective immediately (although April 1 is a start date)
Reporting will look for 8 hours but minimum is 6 hours
No exceptions (unless people are out of office for sick time, vacation, approved leave, etc.)
You can’t extend the hours throughout the week; it must be a minimum of 3 days/week, 6 hours/day
Absolutely no gaming the system — anyone caught doing this will be terminated immediately
New Info
No announcement will be made
Applies to every employee even if their management hasn’t told them about it
3 full days/week does mean 12 days/month, although 11 still meets the 90%+ requirement
Reports have already been sent to level 4 leaders for where things stand today
Minimum of 6+ hours in office does not mean people only have to work 6 hours/day

Telecommuters

Anyone else have people in their office pack stuff up, and told they’re being moved to telecommuter status?

I am in the Richardson office and a large number of people were abruptly told we’re moving to telecommuter. I’m happy, but don’t understand the urgency or the decision process.
