Massive layoff in Europe

Around 15% of the entire labour force is being made redundant. Those who joined two to four years ago are particularly affected, with no replacements being offered, and every department is impacted. The good news is that they are being slightly more generous in negotiations over the redundancy package.

Negotiate severance?

So hearing the severance situation is at least 2 months garden pay, possibly another 8 weeks on top of that and 2x weeks for each year of service; at least from two other threads on here. Has anyone heard of the ability to negotiate for more pay and/or at least getting health benefit as longer (or a COBRA payment for say, 6 months)?

OCI Salary

I am currently working at Cisco, Sr Tech Leader title.
Base: $260k
Bonus: 15%
RSU: 75k/year (for next 4 years)

I cleared CMTS interview with OCI recently. They are offering $230k base and $600k RSU, no bonus. Shall I take the offer? They told me that this is the max they can offer for IC5 and they can't hire for IC6. Why the base pay is so low for IC5?

Union negotiations so now it begins it’s all been planned

As I said months ago they already have a contract extension in place .Both sides just needed to make it look like there was so much between them.As though so much hard work had to be done .Now they sell us the bag that’s filled with you know what. They will say man we made progress it was a tough fight and this is what we got .So I think retirees best not get their hopes up the cost of the health is not reverting. The only hope you have is a cap of some sort. The raises will be just enough to cover the medical increase for active workers. The company as you know wants to wack the disability down so there goes that when the majority of us now at at a point we may need it.So here’s to 2026 best of luck brothers.Lets just hope they don’t sell out the lump for the pension carriers maybe they throw us a bone with another paid holiday like June 19

Negotiate a Better Severance Package

I was able to negotiate a better severance package. The company recently bumped up its severance fund to $205 million, so theres more room to work. I got extra compensation and more months of outplacement services. Definitely try negotiating. They're open to it and it's worth asking

Layoffs Spain

Why do the Works Council in BCN keep saying that everything is confidential? Of course they have the list of names to check possible irregularities. It's part of the report provided by the company. The law doesn't make any mention to a confidentiality clause. If you ask about yourself, they should provide the information. I want more transparency and information from them! Plus, I'm really really worried about the negotiations. Unlike the Madrid WC, they've never been able to negotiate much for us. Will they be able to get good conditions?

DON'T BEND AN INCH

Go Colts and Hoosiers! Now that I have that out, time to get serious. REAL SERIOUS! iI was one that was going to try to tell our leaders to give and take because of our hard times. Not after reading these words! The insistence on not listening to what matters to us will help us not bend either in our contract talks. Hold firm union leaders and brothers and sisters.

Negotiating a better severance pkg?

I was doing some research on common severance situations using my AI of choice and it mentioned that some have been able to negotiate a better severance offer even up to the VSP levels? Anybody know is that really a thing? I didn't think we really had any leverage in this whole thing?

Anyone laid off in Germany Munich

Any one from Germany, how much need to negotiate for 6.5 years experience in synopsys. please help me to understand some thumb rule to negotiate with HR.

In German labor law, if you want to challenge a termination (Kündigungsschutzklage) in court, you must file the lawsuit within 3 weeks of receiving the termination letter.

RSUs not part of severance

I’m a GL31, that was laid off. My last day is late November. I have been with Optum for six years, and have been in various roles (including two integrations). During that time I’ve accumulated a decent amount of stock options (all currently worthless at the $400-500 strike price), and stock RSU grants. My next RSU vesting is Feb 21, and would have amounted to about $30K (at today’s share price). I also obviously am not getting a bonus for 2025.

My severance letter is offering to give me 12 weeks of pay, plus a week of unused vacation. No RSUs, etc.

My question is - before I sign my severance agreement, should I have a lawyer attempt to negotiate the inclusion of my RSUs as part of my package? Has anyone done or heard of this being a successful strategy?

I have 45 days after my last day to sign the letter. I feel I’ve put it the vesting time of six years waiting for these stock awards to vest, and that I should receive these RSUs that are just a couple months shy of vesting. Do I have any case?

Thanks for any advice you may have.

Can some explain Union layoffs?

Sorry, I don’t belong to a union at Verizon so I don’t understand the protections that it gives you.

Are you not able to be laid off without a special package? Or are you able to be laid off but the union will do a strike if or when Verizon does?

How often does ATT offer better severance to older employees not signing agreement?

I work for Verizon. A little over a year away from qualifying for Medicare. Our new CEO Dan Schulman promised us big layoffs are coming. Our current severance package is 2 weeks per year capped at 35 weeks. I'm guessing that he will reduce that significantly to save money and point to ATT's severance policy as justification. How many older ATT employees have been layed off and negotiated a better severance package from the company? I'm thinking they should bridge my healthcare until I turn 65 and honor the old (current) 35 weeks pay cap.
