Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Return to office

I am one that was lucky enough to be in the “remote pilot”. I saw the layoff targeted remote roles away from PHK to some degree. I was told that an RTO is coming up but the date isn’t set. I assume this is to get people to leave prior to possible severance discussions when it’s official.

Who else is hearing this or is your remote role still to be intact? I am wondering if we can negotiate this or if remote is done for.

I’m in GaME.

@ax They are real, just heard from VP in TB it is coming "soon" after GPS/WPS whatever work out the logistics. Likely those being told are those within the 50 mile legal radius, and the rest are not being told anything yet.

@a7 Relocating your role over a certain mileage would prompt relocation benefits or a severance package. The fact that no one ever gives these details continues to show us that RTO rumors are very likely fake

@am

You've got it all figured out, huh? With gobs of boot polish caking your teeth, you think you can afford to be arrogant? You look like an ignorant fool.

Yep, I draw a paycheck from Nike. You got that right. But you quickly fell off, as usual for folks with your low-horsepower mentality. Do you really think I'm earning my keep, by working hard and returning value to Nike? 😂

Try hard to think it through, even though it's hard. Perhaps look to this for a little enlightenment

bootlicking

/ˈbo͞otˌlikiNG/

Bootlicking is the act of acting in a highly submissive, fawning, or flattering manner toward authority figures or people with influence, typically to gain special favor or advantages.

It describes servile behavior—such as being a "yes man"—often regarded with disapproval. It represents extreme subservience.

I hope this helps...

Oh for sure. Anything to duck and dodge the reaction to abrasive bootlicking and corporate cuckery in the original post.

Yep, yep, just some troll...whatever you need to tell yourself. 😅

Get ready for less support from ITC. While there might be “overlap hours” they don’t actually work to those or stick to them. Wait for the 2am 3am 4am repeat emails and slack messages wanting things from you urgently despite you being off work hours.

@an Don’t bother. @ae is likely a Chicom looking to divide us or just a troll with way too much time on their hands from their parents basement.

@a6 How difficult it must be to hate corporations but completely throw your values out the window to work for a big corporation. The hypocrisy is astounding. How do you sleep at night? Oh wait, you are a self-loathing leftist. Got it.

I mean, I get the frustration, but some roles can be remote and some can't. Hasn't it been like this at every other company for decades?

Does your bootlicking know no bounds? Executive "leadership" certainly doesn't need a peon like you to fight their battles but yet here you are. Enjoy that shoe polish, bucco.

If leaders think remote is so bad .....how do they easily say "work from home next week" might as well say "take the week off" right? since remote is bad?

Do the Right Thing.

Make it a consistent policy, quit with the whole “but it helps follow the sun support” or “but I have to drive my car” or “but so many excellent people will quit” or “we won’t be able to find anyone good in the WHQ area” lines…

That’s the emperors new clothes and we all know it so for real… just stop.

The only ones ranting these tired lines are currently remote right now so it’s in their best interest to perpetuate the lines.

All the other NIKE employees (you know your coworkers) are coming into the office.

Haves and have nots are part of real life but why enable it with a company non-standard?

Agree Nike needs a consistent policy, but this topic with what just happened and is happening is a slow motion train wreck in process

We are offshoring to ITC and will have about 1 hour of overlap at absolute MAX with India, assuming they stretch into the evening. I can pretty much promise any WHQ goodwill to work early or late has absolutely evaporated over this week. Leadership is utterly clueless of how much flexibility WHQ gives ITC and geos and vice versa to make the model even barely hold together

Bigger issue is RTO is a fork in the road for GT: keep an inconsistent policy and double down on ensuring no one gives a sh-t with second class citizenship at WHQ, or force it, lose remote talent, and snuff the life out of any chance ITC partnership stays functional

The only good option is flexibility for all and we know that will not happen because its the smart decision

Would a RTO allow us to go into a different office for example NYHQ instead of WHQ?

I did not see any out-of-range remote SWEs get laid off. I saw several Leads, Principles, Managers that were out of range get laid off, though. It may have been determined by level (40+?)

I am hearing the same thing and I’m freaking out. If we get RTO’d and can’t move back to campus then did we just get sc--wed out of getting a severance package?

Getting laid off comes with severance package plus paid cobra plus other benefits. If you get RTO and have to quit, you don’t get anything at all. Not being on the chopping block of layoffs seemed like a good thing but getting laid off is actually far better than getting RTO if you can’t move back to campus. I had a short period of feeling relieved that I didn’t get laid off but now I feel like I’m totally sc--wed because I can’t move back to campus.

Nope. Not interested in being near bootlickers and corporate cucks like you but thanks anyway. You will have to continue to get your jollies just sniffing the currently available fa-t sources.

I’m in GaME but have been RTO since the beginning. Idk why it’s different for people but it’s time to make everyone have a consistent policy.
