Query Regarding Potential WFR Notifications

Has anyone been officially notified yet about the possibility of an upcoming WFR?

I wanted to check because recently my manager has become noticeably less communicative and doesn’t acknowledge my presence the way they used to. There hasn’t been any direct feedback or conversation, so I’m unsure how to interpret the change.

Does this kind of behavior typically indicate that someone may be on the list for a potential WFR, or am I reading too much into it? I’d appreciate hearing from others who may have experienced something similar or have insights into how these situations usually unfold.

Thanks in advance.

New Updated Intelligence On Walmart Layoffs

We don’t expect large wholesale layoffs before EOY (Jan 31st). Q4 is going fine, holiday event went fine and previous layoffs achieved the expense reduction plan. Therefore, we think everyone can rest easy for awhile.

However, there’s a trifecta of conditions that create concerns for the May (and beyond) time frame:

Leadership is changing and focus from the CEO perspective will likely be to stop the project and dollar bleed from languishing projects and project now out of favor.

Tech leadership is in the target zone to change from service provider to business partner, and when that spotlight shines, discovery of money pit projects will surface. Many will be scrapped along with the tech staff on them.

Focus on evaluating AI efforts will continue and sone projects will be cancelled and new ones will appear. That could add to staff reductions.

Expect to see reorganization efforts to more closely align with business goals. Reorganized always create excess staff, so take that into account.

The next 6-8 weeks will prove to be consequential for those in peril of low performance and the typical calibration type meetings will displace those that are unpopular for one reason or another.

It’ll be May before actions are apparent on new leaders, new goals and new projects actual staffing.

We still think transportation, distribution centers and stores will fare fine in 2026. The risk is primarily in tech, we believe

"100 percent made up / speculative / wrong" — Microsoft is not preparing for massive layoffs in January

Reports suggested up to 22,000 roles could be at risk at Microsoft this month, but the company's chief communications officer shot down those rumors as false.

Any upcoming layoffs?

I recall the person who announced the end of the year layoffs from last year got the date 100% correct. They had also mentioned layoffs for next week (if im not mistaken). Is this plausible, any knowledge or input on this is helpful. I imagine if someone knew of one it would have already been posted.

Mass layoffs could be coming

As we enter the first quarter of the year, Microsoft layoffs in 2026 are fast-becoming a focal point of industry concern. Following a turbulent 2025 that witnessed over 15,000 job cuts, rumors of further layoffs at Microsoft suggest a multi-year strategy to flatten corporate hierarchies. With a history of timing major personnel changes in January, the potential for job cuts at Microsoft in 2026 looms large for teams in Gaming, Azure, and Sales.

Directv Layoffs 2026

My sources are saying a layoff is imminent - upto 20% workforce starting this month and many more to follow. Its going to be a hellish year as our freefall accelerates. We lost 300k subs in 3q 2025 alone. Gramps and Granny are keeping us afloat but that isn’t sustainable unless we’re in the business of selling Adult Diapers and Prune Juice. Save up them pennies and avoid purchasing that new car, my friends. Im hoping to exit soon myself

Can this be confirmed?

Looks like 272 were escorted out in Sept. 2025. There are at least this amount again planned for 2026 according to news..
Looks like stock (BC) is growing slowly, but 2026 senior notes buyback not a good sign.

I'm asking specifically about the more layoffs early next year part.

I’m genuinely worried about possible layoffs

I imagine many others are too. Around me, it’s mostly middle-aged folks like me, with mortgages, families, and bills that never stop growing. I’ve been looking for another job, which has only added to my anxiety. My wife’s position is also uncertain. What on earth will we do if both of us lose our jobs, with other options almost non-existent?
