Curious if anyone laid off is trying to secure another role within UHC or Optum? If yes, any success with getting interviews or re-hired? How long did it take you to get rehired?

Severence - anyway to expedite?
Laid off 3/5/26. Electronically submitted severence paperwork the next day. People say it takes 2-3 pay periods until it’s paid out. Is there any way to expedite?
Asking as I might take another internal position (I’m in the hiring process). You forfeit severance if you are hired back on BEFORE your severence pays out.
Would like to get severence AND get back on since the job market is terrible where I live.
Any suggestions from this group?
Amazon Cuts Hundreds of New York Corporate Jobs
Amazon recently laid off hundreds of employees in New York. Approximately 135 corporate staff were cut from its Manhattan office in January. More than 100 other New York-based employees also lost their jobs. These reductions are part of Amazon's broader restructuring efforts. The company plans to eliminate about 16,000 roles globally.

Life outside Macys
I dedicated 16 years of my career to Macy’s, believing retail was the same everywhere. Leaving was a daunting decision, but it transformed my life for the better. While I loved my job, the increasing expectations became overwhelming. Now, I enjoy a much-improved work-life balance and have discovered there is a life outside Macys.

This job has been just a paycheck for me for the longest time, and I don't like it at all. But I need that damn paycheck. The job market is terrible.

Major Job Cuts Hit New Jersey Workers
New Jersey employers announced nearly 4,000 job cuts in the first two months of 2026. Amazon alone expects to cut over 800 jobs across several New Jersey counties. JPMorgan Chase and Citibank also filed notices impacting hundreds of banking positions. Bristol Myers Squibb and health insurers like Blue Cross Blue Shield will also reduce staff. An economics professor views these figures as small relative to the state's overall economy.

Tech job market the worst since 2008

Tech job market implosion has begun, and even before massive layoffs at Oracle and Meta.
How long before another round?
It's sad that layoffs have become so commonplace that even this soon after the last round I'm already worried about what's coming next. At this point, the only way to regain some semblance of job security probably means finding a job somewhere else. This place has outlived its purpose.
I now hate Sundays
Sitting here drinking coffee, and already dreading tomorrow. Another week of pointless frustration and wondering if this is the week they cut me. I know I need to leave. Just don't know how.
There's no such thing as safe at Qualcomm
A few years ago I witnessed the best guy on our team fired in a thirty second phone call and I haven't forgotten since that day that nothing here is safe.
I survived many layoffs at Nike
The ones from around five years ago and earlier made sense. I knew I was safe because I was more skilled, had been here longer, and people liked working with me. Since then, it's felt totally random, like they're just picking names out of a hat. I haven't felt safe in my position since that change happened.
We need to accept layoffs as the new normal
There's no longer a point in asking questions about whether layoffs are coming. They are. The answer will always be yes. The only question now is when. Is it in a month or two, or maybe three, but never longer than that. It's not how things should be, but it is what it is.
Just saying.
Wake up. If you're not job hunting, you're one of the few who isn't.
This is not a post about AI. I barely do any feature work anymore.
This is not a post about AI. I barely do any feature work anymore. I feel like with everything happening in the US and the global situation, I just have zero motivation to work or produce work for these companies. Just waiting to see how long I can keep this going, wondering how many are on the same boat.
With everything going on it's hard to take anything seriously anymore. And knowing that my company is trying everything they can to replace me with either AI or someone offshore doesn't make me interested in helping them fulfill their profit goals.
At the same time, I don't want to lose my job in this economy either. But how do you stay motivated like this?
Nobody is safe
And it's hard to live with the awareness that you can be out of a job anytime. I know I'm not saying anything new, but it's really depressing. It doesn't matter anymore how good you are, or how much you've invested in being even better. The way people are being discarded these days is unlike anything I've ever experienced, and it seems to be getting worse. A job occupies too much space in our lives to be such a negative, stressful experience. It directly affects your confidence and sense of self-worth. And what's the point of a system set up to make both us and our clients deeply unsatisfied and fearful?
Can they at least spare us the spin?
I'm terrified of losing my job, yet here I am, being reassured daily that being replaced by AI or cheap offshore labor is the best thing that could happen to me.
If you were hired after 2008 then vote YES!!
The majority of people whining about this contract extension are the ones retiring in the next 4 years. They’ve taken everything away from you. Your pensions, your retiree healthcare, and your job security,
Now they want to take away what little you get with this extension for their own benefit. Your raises, your increased payment towards your medical in retirement, even more job security, your extra work that secures your place in the company, etc, etc. All of that because they have pay a little bit extra into their healthcare.
NO MORE!!
These old farts have ruined the union and are looking to make sure it stays ruined for their benefit. The majority of them have barely showed up for work since they started. They are parasites, abusers, and a cancer and their retirement will be our savior.
VOTE YES!!
Stay away
Do not come to T-mobile especially if you would be in the northeast region. Your job will be threatened every day. Your Salesforce will be monitored and if it doesn't match your outlook you'll be threatened again. But there will be a lot of job openings cuz everyone is leaving.

US Jobless Claims Slightly Decline Amid Market Weakness
U.S. jobless benefit applications saw a slight decline. They fell by 1,000 to 213,000. This occurred despite a generally weakening labor market. High-profile firms like Amazon announced recent layoffs. The job market shows slow hiring and few firings.

Impacts of AI at Cigna
Curious what everyone’s thoughts are on the AI impacts at Cigna?
Every time companies talk about “effeciency” it often ends up meaning fewer people doing the same work. Also with the recent job eliminations and the intense focus on improving effeciencies, it makes me wonder where things are heading.
Not trying to be negative or start rumors, just curious what others think about this. Is AI impacting your role yet? Any thoughts on how this might impact jobs at Cigna going foward?
Evotec Restructures, Cutting 800 Jobs and Four Sites

Speaking Up While Still Employed
Is it a good idea to speak on LinkedIn about what employees are going through inside a company while still working there?
I’m currently at Wells Fargo and honestly I hate the way some of us are being treated. I checked job openings on Workday and many of the roles seem to be in India while employees here are worried about their jobs.
Just wondering what others think is it right to speak up about this while still employed?
Wouldn't it be nice to just know what's coming?
Since the weekend, it's been all anyone in my office can talk about. And who can blame us? We're way past loving or hating our jobs. We're straight scared for our livelihoods. I can't be the only one lying awake thinking about the mortgage, the kids, the bills that always seem to appear out of nowhere. And yeah, I've been looking for other work. And no, it hasn't helped. Just made me more anxious.
I used to panic at the thought of getting let go
I don't do that anymore. For the last year I've been doing the minimum and nothing more. Took two certifications on their dime. Spend my days learning things for my next role. Resume is out there. If they want to cut me, fine. The severance will just be extra. I'm ready.
Companies will be heavily taxed for using Ai agents and not creating Jobs.
This is the next trend.
Feel like a failure getting let go
I wish I was told before hand that things were this bad for me , instead of just things seemingly to be okay.
Now I have no job/ no income and the job market is not great.
You will be replaced with an AI agent
Most of what India does can be replaced with AI agents.
Who’s next to go?
Any news? We’re all sitting here anxious as f***.

FT contract
The contract will be revoked and all the people servicing FT will lose their jobs, that's how this farce is going to end. They keep firing experienced people for a bit of saving and hiring unqualified juniors in their place. This is not a valid strategy and both the clients and FT feel that, and it's already happening. I wish it wasn't so but it will happen sooner or later.
