H-1B Salaries

This is a serious question and ONLY directed at H-1b FTEs. I’m a white female from Europe who used to be on H-1b when initially hired by Nike. I’ve been a permanent resident for a while now but still curious about something. I know the scenarios where H-1b hires get paid less or taken advantage of but I have never had that happen to me by Nike or any of my other (much bigger) employers. When Nike hired me, all of my coworkers on the team were American and my salary was comparable to or higher than theirs. Has any H-1b FTE observed they are in fact getting underpaid? Contractors are a different story and can be more easily exploited hence I’m excluding them from the question.

Metropolitan Opera Announces Layoffs

The Metropolitan Opera announced layoffs and salary reductions for executives. A new production for the 2026-27 season will also be postponed. The company is considering selling naming rights to its theater. It may also sell two Chagall murals, which would remain in the building.

How can Americans save themselves from getting laid off.

The world has changed and Americans now have to compete with global workforce. Now, the global workforce (workforce in India, etc. and H1-Bs in USA) work for much less than what Americans want.

Now, the companies of USA want to increase their profits so they will use cheap labour. They actually don't care about Americans, they only care about their profits and revenues. It is quite evident that the companies want profits even if they have to layoff Americans.

By the way, these all are the side-effects of capitalism.

So, now the only way for Americans to not get laid off is to ask the management to reduce their salary but let them keep their jobs.

WA state layoffs

Salary workers…. Did you get your post increase in January 1st?
WA state minimum wage went up meaning the minimum a salary worker can make in WA state as of Jan 1 2026 raised to $80,168.40 annually. It’s weird the focus was on layoffs and we didn’t get our increase
I will be contacting a lawyer and LNI

Salary bumps for people stepping into new roles?

So, for people that have now stepped into new roles because of the layoffs and people that left, are we getting salary adjustments? does anyone have any insight on this? or are we just "lucky to have a job" and are supposed to shut up and take it?

Are salaries heading down?

In the reorg last year every colleague that was not on the Standard pay scale had there job posted at a lower level. Essentially getting your same job back now has you maxed out on pay in the same Grade. Has there actually been any type of an overall pay scale increase besides the meager merit raises which have been taken away from most individuals?

Zero Growth, Riskier, Less Salary

Oracle was focusing on being a stable firm. But most of responsibilities where around Oracle concepts like basic Java, Java EE and some opensource areas without much depth in technology or anything.
It doesn't shape the employees with challenges. It doesn't offer you a career trajectory. Doesn't makes you un-fireable (always keep you in fear). Your market value stagnates over years with 2% to 0% hikes.
It has made employees obsolete as the company is pivoting to different area.

Pay range for levels have decreased according to current open positions

I noticed when looking at open jobs internally that the pay range for the level where I'm at is lower than what it was last year. These are positions in my current geographic location. My current salary is above the max for my level where last year it was slightly above midpoint. Has anyone noticed this? How are they going to approach salary increases?

H1B Salary Hikes

H1B Salaries are expected to be raised in next 6m. Expect a bump up from 150K min to 210K min. the best ones who are getting around 180K should be given salary of 240K+

Now with above salary raises coming, does Oracle plans to give more money to H1B or retain US employees in their layoffs. All through these years, Oracle has fostered H1B so they can give low pay.

promotion vs exceeds vs meets

all the thank you notes from the top of the company. but vps and under are still always in a 24 x7 panic, blame game mode. in the team, how much if they up the grade vs exceeds meets , ive been here 3 years..last year when the company was doing well. they gave me peanuts, this time how much can i expect? meets - 3k , exceeds 7k?

HBA vs St. Louis

I’m seeing a lot of anti-HBA sentiment on this board. As a leader who has both St Louis and HBA folks on my team, I thought I’d share some insight.

It’s not that great being an HBA. Though there is flexibility, they take a hit on compensation. The merit increases are based on St Louis cost of living. St. Louis is much more affordable than most other metros. So, what that means is HBAs have not seen any real salary increase. Every year, they fall further behind due to their local cost of living.
