Anyone negotiate a successful off-cycle raise?

Looking to hear data from actual employees about on-cycle and off-cycle raises? Meaning, has anyone ever negotiated a raise that didn’t coincide with the early December salary treatment supervisor discussion? I’m interested in hearing if you brought a competing offer to the table? What % raise did you ask for? Did you receive it? What time of year? Also interested to hear if anyone negotiated a higher raise % “on-cycle” meaning you did it at the early December salary treatment discussion. Any insights welcome.

Off cycle mid year raises happen routinely for hipos. They cannot be negotiated for mere mortals like you.

Yes you can, if you have offer in hand and it’s more than you are making now and overall better job - you got what’s it called NUTS.

Everything is automated these days. there's no supervisor input in raises, only promotions.

These do happen in the US for certain folks, albeit it’s rare. If you try to “negotiate” this you will undoubtedly fail.

If you are ranked OPD the option for August 1 salary / promotion action will become visible in bequom. The approval is high up

The best you could realistically hope for is 1) be confident you will be OPD and then 2) put the bug in your boss’s ear for an off cycle. Even then it’s unlikely.

Good luck

Ive heard of it but that was in low cost countries. Or prized DOAG buddies. I’m sure all of the Laquinta guys buddies for example.

No such thing. You’re just going to get a predictable response about our total compensation package being competitive. And you will earn yourself a spot at the top of the disloyal and uncommitted malcontents list for future PIP consideration.
