Centene is contracted by HHSC to manage their Medicaid spending. When Trump decided to make Medicaid cuts, it meant our membership would go down. Centene gets a monthly payment for each member on Medicaid. Without the member there is no money coming in which.means no money to pay you. Anytime you work for a company on a contract you have to understand that you can be cut at any point. Centene is built around Medicaid. Although They aren’t losing their contract, they’re losing their membership that Trump took away. Instead of putting Centene down, talk to Trump. He did this. Do your research. And before you apply for another job pay attention to who the company is that you’re saying yes too. That was your mistake by saying yes to a company that you didn’t even do your research on. Centene doesn’t have to offer anything to you on your way out but they did. Maybe it’s not what you wanted but they still offered. What is happening with Medicaid is out of their control. They have to do what’s best for the company to serve each member what is entitled to them. At the end of the day we are there to serve the member. But without a member there is no one to serve. Why should Centene pay you to sit in front of your computer and do nothing because there is no member to serve? That would be their worst business move. Stop putting Centene down and go talk to your president. Maybe his severance package will better suit you.

In Office Tracking for Med Accomodations
Does anyone know or have an idea on how they are tracking in office requirements if you have a medical accommodation? I’m in a location where you only have to badge in and I have a FWA for 4 hrs a day. Do they truly track your hours if you have the FWA?
Medical coverage
I didn't receive the offer, but I'm still curious, what kind of medical coverage comes with it? Do you get a full year, 60 days, or something else? Considering current costs of health insurance, that's be the one thing that'd make me decide for or against taking the offer.
Denied previously-approved medical accommodation to work from home, or significantly more stressful process for you this year?
If you’ve been denied previously-approved medical accommodations, switched to remote status instead of having the accommodation approved as an alternative path forward, or if you experienced a lot of stress/difficulty/hardships this year from the disability accommodation process this year or previously, please upvote this post.

No more GLP1 weightloss coverage for employees
Just got the notice Cigna will not cover Zepbound for its employees for weightloss effective 7-1. Feels like the ultimate bait and switch: “join our program, use Omada, we cover your medication cost for this lifetime
Med!!” 2 years and 100lbs later “just kidding- you can pay $500 per month cash pay, it’s accessible now!”. Between layoffs, benefit downgrades, verint, stagnant wages I feel like I’m actually losing money working for this company not making money lol. Anyone else feel like they are paying for the “luxury” of working here? Maybe they’re just hoping we regain the weight and unalive so they can save money without additional layoffs

How long after being let go Does somebody disappear from teams?
There was a colleague in a different department that I worked with and anytime I look them up on teams they are still there, last seen approximately 2 months ago. I have a feeling they were let go, but wouldn't they be gone from teams by now? Maybe they are on a medical leave, which is why I don't want to ask them. Thank you

Flash Drives and Funny Numbers
Excerpt from this site (well worth a read). https://healthcareuncovered.substack.com/p/flash-drives-and-funny-numbers-what
“buried inside the same earnings release was a $935 million charge — the company’s “best estimate” of what it may owe the federal government for years of improper Medicare Advantage billing.”
Based on “February 27 notice from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services:
Medicare Advantage insurers are paid by the government based on the health status of their members. Sicker patients generate higher “risk scores,” which generate higher payments. Insurers are required to submit accurate diagnosis data to CMS through its electronic systems — and if they discover that a diagnosis code isn’t supported by medical records, they’re required to correct it and return any overpayment within 60 days.
Elevance didn’t do that. According to CMS, from November 2018 through October 2025, the company submitted data corrections for unsupported diagnosis codes not through the required electronic systems but via encrypted external USB flash drives — a method CMS had explicitly rejected. During that same period, the company sent CMS seven letters stating it did not intend to use the required systems. CMS sent six letters directing it to comply.
The agency’s language was unambiguous: Elevance’s conduct represents “substantial and persistent noncompliance” that “has persisted for over seven years despite repeated clear directives from CMS.”
The result, as CMS sees it: Elevance collected government overpayments it never returned, and repeatedly certified the accuracy of its data submissions while knowing that unverified diagnosis codes had not been corrected through the required channels.”
“That is not a paperwork problem. That is a description of a company that — for seven years, across multiple administrations — chose to do things its own way with Medicare’s money.”

Medical Insurance when Severance ends
My last severance paycheck will be May 8. Anyone know if insurance stops the day after or does it stop May 31? I have heard if you work at least one day in a month then leave, your insurance is covered until end of month. Wondering if same applies for severance ending.
Medical - Severance Package
Anyone know if the medical last till 4/30/26 or does it end on 4/10/26? When does Oracle pick up the 1 month of COBRA, May 1st?
Useful Info to plan your life
The posts are generally whining and moaning.
I thought I would provide info so folks can plan better.
Topic of this week is around NRE and pension.
You don’t lose your pension. You lose benefits, especially medical. You get your pension, you get vested after 5 years. So you will get your pension. However discounting is different between retiree and terminee. Suggest you run Alight calculator between age 55 and 54.5 and you will know the difference.

Medical Accommodation
I had been extremely worried about the five day return to office due to my medical conditions. My manager told me I had to go through ERIC, so a couple weeks ago I reached out to them. I was sent a form that I had to have my doctor complete. Once the completed form was received, I was contacted to have a meeting with an human resources representative. After that conversation, they schedule a meeting with your manager to discuss a modified schedule.
I must tell you that this process has been very easy so far. The reason I am posting this is because if you have a medical condition supported by your doctor and you need to limit your days in the office, it’s very much worth your time to contact ERIC and put in the request. If you’re someone that just wants to work from home because you don’t want to come in, that is not going to be a valid reason based on the form that your doctor has to complete.
I have been worried sick about this whole situation and I was really put at ease during this process. I just wanted to put this positive information out for others who are employees that may be concerned. I hope this information helps someone.

I'm back one year later from March 2025 layoff
I was the author of the maybe layoffs thread last year where everyone mentioned that I was trolling. https://www.thelayoff.com/t/1jmakfz6x
I was impacted, but in good spirits now since it took me a couple of months to find another role. I am giving my perspective and guidance to those who maybe affected next month.
If something feels off start applying immediately to other jobs, that is what help me achieve a faster turnaround in this job market. Those who got poor performance reviews out of nowhere with little to no warning helped me understand that except for family, no one is to be trusted.
When you are in the call with HR remain calm say that you will look over the severance package and leave. You'll have a few days to sign it with a clear head. Always have your keys, wallet, phone, and other with you at all time.
If applicable look at your state unemployment laws for additional income, but do watch how much taxes are withheld.
If you get a job offer, take it then keep applying for other roles or better yet apply internally once in so you get a job that matches your skill set. I REPEAT TAKE IT!
Get your medical checkups now! FSA used it.
You will get a message from old teammates about your status, but this is not a checkup. It is a check to see where you end up and some will be jealous to hear where you end up.
Trust your gut.
The Break Up Big Medicine Act
Lookout UnitedHealth and CVS: https://www.warren.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/break_up_big_medicine_act_one-pager.pdf
The legislation will:

• Prohibit a parent company of a prescription dr-g or medical device wholesaler from owning a medical provider or MSO
• Require companies in violation to come into compliance within one year of enactment
• Create automatic penalties for failure to comply, including disgorgement of profits and forced asset sales
• Enable the FTC, HHS, DOJ, state attorneys general, and private parties to bring lawsuits against violators
• Allow the FTC and DOJ to review and block future transactions that recreate these conflicts of interest

Denials:
What they don’t tell the providers who use their products - is they escalate as much as they can for medical review due to their escalation list and even if it meets IQ criteria - well we know what happens than. InterQual Auth Accelerator pairs Optum’s InterQual clinical criteria with AI to digitize payer rules, extract relevant clinical information from provider records and bring it to human reviewers. Most payers using the accelerator are starting with an augmented workflow, where AI organizes and presents information but a human reviewer still makes the determination, rather than fully automated approvals.
“We do not and will not automate denials,” Dr. Kontor said. “This is only accelerating reviews and automating approvals.”

How do I get a medical retirement from this place
Accomodation request
I requested temporary medical accommodation and received layoff notice in few days. Also no one responded to my medical accommodation Request, not even an acknowledgement. Is this driven by this?
Medical Condition Accommodation Process
I've been in the accommodation process for some time (going on 2 months now) to get some workplace flexibility and I feel like HR is just dragging this on to try and make me give up on the whole process. Not only have I had my primary care professional provide a letter with their medical recommendation but they have also completed Truist's assessment form (redundant questions at that) - all saying the exact same thing justifying a medical accomodation. Now I'm hit with a "we need some more information in order to process this request."
Is this normal for those who have gone through this? This seems like such an unnecessary, painfully drawn out process for something fairly straightforward.
