Teleflex selling medical technology divisions

The Wayne-based medical technology company has agreed to sell its original equipment manufacturer (OEM) business to a partnership between private equity firms Montagu of London and Kohlberg of New York for $1.5 billion. In a separate transaction, Teleflex (NYSE: TFX) will sell its acute care and interventional urology businesses to United Kingdom-based Intersurgical Ltd. for $530 million.

How do benefits wind down if your severance ends min-year in 2026?

Like, let's say your severance period ends on June 18, '26.

For MEDICAL, I have to have the date of service by before June 18 to count?

For a FLEX ACCOUNT, I assume there's a certain amount that has been funded by that date and then I have to have the expense incurred by that date? And how long do I have to get reimbursment?

For WELLNESS DOLLARS- I just have to do the activities by June 18?

I've found that benefits information / support is lacking for severed employees. The annual enrollment is by phone only (no online apparently) and there's nothing written that describes the specifics for how the final partial-year benefits work. Yeah I'm going to call but some of you have may have some interesting tidbits that my phone call won't uncover.


Has anyone had their medical accommodation reviewed and or revoked....

I've heard through the vine that folks with longstanding and easily proven medical accommodations - the accommodations are being reviewed or terminated. The federal ADA states that the employer can periodically review an existing, but not terminate. Has anyone experienced this?


The amount of money exxon saves by getting rid of you early is huge.

Ok here are the facts and if you don't care then leave when the push you out. The medical alone is worth 22 to 25k per year exxon's part. The loss of lump sum at 50 years of age is 50 %. So lets say 500k for a 20 year service. So the medical would be 375k for 15 years coverage plus 500k equals 875k$ loss. For those with 30 or 40 years it would be much more of a loss. Those who were piped or nsied at 50 and 51 lost the most and should have consulted a lawyer. I don't know any employees separated during nre ages. At 55 you get medical and 75% of your lump sum. It goes up from there until 60 when you are at full retirement 100%. So now you know the truth about why you beloved supervisor or manager keeps asking when you will leave. There is definitely an increased pressure to get rid of older employees in comparison to years past. I and many others are being forced out and you will too youngsters. Beware the warnings and wisdom of the ones who have lived through this before.


NBC New’s Program — Cost of Denial

Tonight’s episode on the 6:30pm news, showcased a gentleman Mr. Middleton, whom has Bile Duct Cancer was denied a life extending dr-g Ziihera that hos Oncologist and team recommended.

Cigna denied and suggested another dr-g that most likely would not extend Mr. Middleton’s life long enough to obtain the liver transplant he needs. Unlike the recommended dr-g Ziihera most likely would

Just another example as to how profits are being placed before member’s health. Our healthcare system is truly broken.

Oftentimes I hear persons say that reason why healthcare is so expensive in the U.S. is because of all the state of the art technology and research. And although I do not doubt that is the case, I think persons would take maybe less state of the art technologies and research, if they could at least have their healthcare actually save their life in an affordable way, when needed.

To use a metaphor, what good would it be if all commercial planes got replaced with an equivalent to airforce one, if because of that now, it would cost a person $20k to fly from San Diego to San Francisco?

Also, I think there is a lot of greed going on where C-Suite executives are getting paid millions, Large Bank Investors are making major profits, and because of that, which has been recognized by hospitals and providers now figure they might as well not be left out of the profit gains and charging exponential costs for services that would have cost a fraction in the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. And I won’t even bother mentioning Pharmaceutical manufacturers. I really do not know what to think about it nor what can be done.

What happens if you are let go before you are retirement eligible?

There is a lot of talk about NRE and retirement eligibility. My questions are if you leave before you have 15 years and after 15 years. I believe at or after 15 years you get the medical and either the lump sum or annuity. If you don't get to 15 years no lump sum no medical coverage and annuity at 65. I am at a decision point in my career and don't want to miss a chance to leave. I as ked HR and they were no help. I don't think many of us young ones will make it to 55. When I say 15 years I also mean 55 years of age. I think I can make 15 years but not to 55 years old. Any advice is helpful.


What type of medical issue would be considered to have you work fully remote or only show up 1x a connect week?

I have chronic migraines but still show up to work and don’t think my issue would get approved. I could get a doctors note but I don’t think it would qualify me for fully remote and could be used against me I assume. One of the members on a team I work with only comes to the office one day out of the connect week and I wonder what she has that allows her to have that schedule.
