I am here to inform the masses at WF that more layoffs will continue across all business lines. Mark my words. It’s like letting horses at of the corral. Wells Fargo or Bust. Let’s ride like the wind bullseye 🎯.
I just got laid off
Lead Software Engineer LOB: Technology
Starting to lot of press on growing cost of AI
Simple Google search Yes, AI can actually cost significantly more than human labor. A major reason for this is that running advanced AI requires massive amounts of expensive hardware and energy, making human workers the cheaper and more economically... — read more
Lump sum payment time frame?
I know the paper work says up to 60 days from the time it's requested. Im just asking if that is the norm or is it usually faster from folks who have taken this option.
the matter of focus
when you optimize for one thing, you usually suboptimize something else. so now we spend energy on trivial stuff like badging, attendance, and proving people are physically present, while less time goes into the actual work. the work is still there... — read more
AI does not fix bad management
I had to laugh. "AI produces gains where tasks are structured, feedback is quick, and performance is measurable. It does not magically fix bad management, muddled processes, or poor judgment. " Sooo...who is going to tell Derek... — read more
Any major rounds on the way?
Not the usual "every other Tuesday" thing, but anything more substantial all of us should worry about?
Problem with my manager
It's either personal, or they're trying to push me to quit. Either way, it's become unbearable. I've only been here a year and a half, and I don't really understand the dynamics yet. I'd like to move to another team. Who should I talk to? Just to... — read more
The politics here are unbearable
There are many things wrong with Wells Fargo right now, from bad management and toxic culture to constant layoffs, but the worst part is the politics. It feels like every decision is about someone's agenda rather than what actually makes sense. I've... — read more
Why is the WFC layoff board so much more active than the other major banks ...
BAC, JPM, C, USB. Seems like the closest competition comes from Truist.
what's gonna be funny
is when the regulators start looking at how employers ignore honest feedback from AI. better keep those records.
Look how far we've fallen
I've been around long enough to remember when this place was actually decent, when working hard got you somewhere and meant something. The money was never amazing, but you felt valued. Leadership wanted to keep good people. It's now just a sweatshop... — read more
Will the new green card rules affect layoffs
Thoughts on this? As H1Bs have to go back and apply? Or will they just outsource more to India and keep them there?
Denver
Are there any IT folks left in Denver? We were told the DTC office would shut down and to work downtown instead, but then it started raining axes.
Current environment at WF
This is 1000% Wells Fargo today: The most dangerous workplace bully isn't your coworker, it's your manager. Because when the person targeting you also controls performance, documentation, and reputation, it's not conflict, it's leverage.
PTO payoffs on resignation or layoff
PTO payoffs on resignation or layoff - how does it work? Frustratedly software engineer here
How is your pay nowadays?
If you factor in actual inflation, rather than the numbers the government reports, wages are falling rapidly. And both political parties share the blame. We have an uniparty anyway. Have you looked at the price of a new car lately? Or a... — read more
“The BIg One” is around the corner
Bloodbath after Memorial days weekend.
Performance setups
The performance matrix they use is setting employees up to fail so they can terminate workers in order to off shore jobs. They target employees with tenure, accommodations, and fully remote employees. They are trying to cut people to save a buck
Confusing
I wonder if people that post are misusing “layoff” and “termination” because the way people are writing, it sounds like we are back two years ago, where everybody was getting laid off and expecting huge severance packages, which I don’t think is the... — read more
Thinking about taking leave
And not sure whether I should file; does anybody have thoughts as to the pros and cons… especially with respect to whether one could lose his job.
WaPO: It's tricky (Layoffs)
Everyone is watching the layoffs but only some are paying attention to the real issue -hiring has slowed dramatically... The headlines make it sound like AI is eliminating jobs overnight. The actual labor data tells a more tricky story. Layoffs are... — read more
Roving Banker Managers
:( I feel so bad for these people they worked so hard to get to where they were and we’re all very high performing branch managers. Hopefully a lot can find a spot and be retained. The role just wasn’t deemed to be profitable from an ROI... — read more
Mid Year Review then Layoff
No mid year self evaluation but Managers will still evaluate their staffs in June. List of layoffs might come in Aug after the recalibration in July.
New Manager, Who Will Do My Mid Year Review?
As of this week I have a new manager. Will they be conducting my mid year review or will it be my old manager?
WF is going to strip you of your livelihood, Saint Louis!!
And it will happen soon. CharlieFart and Ikene want us GONE. Hope my parachute opens before the impact occurs but it probably won't, with all of this IM nonsense. We're all circling the bowl over here
In office expectations: PTO
Everyone has said that the 3 day requirement is rolling. If that’s the case and I take two weeks off can I only go in 1 day the week before I’m off and one day the week I come back?

Office remodel notice

Getting a free ice cream one day definitely makes up for commuting 156 days annually to take teams calls from a noisy cubicle

Can the bank afford another bonus for Charlie? Can Charlie survive without it?
What’s with all the directors here at Wells?
They are like Russian nesting dolls. Often they with 3-4 layers of directors reporting to one another and sadly none knows enough about their business or function to e mildly effective! Leadership at JPMC is much more streamlined and effective.

i'm at bofa and just interviewed for a role on this team but I'm worried after reading this post. https://www.thelayoff.com/post/@OP+1kpmbbgcj

employees who "request" layoff
Are going to be treated as voluntary quitting. Resignation, without severance. New rule effective July 1st. Management perception is some employees are gaming the severance system. managers are not pushing deadwood out the door fast enough.
