Everywhere I Look, the Cracks Are Showing

Lately I’ve been struck by how much of our work isn’t guided by what’s right. It’s guided by what’s just barely enough. Processes get rewritten not to improve outcomes, but to meet the lowest regulatory threshold. We chase compliance instead of... — read more

RTO Disscussion

Figured I would start a new chain, was getting tired of hearing about Memphis

Town Hall

It's really easy to figure out who is next on the chopping block based on what Geoff talks about or doesn't mention at all. All Canadian employees need to start looking for another job immediately. The number of times Canada was mentioned unprompted... — read more

It’s amazing how much the workplace has changed

Somewhere along the line, asking someone to correct an error turned into a “tone issue.” I’ve spent two decades in this field, and I’m still trying to wrap my head around how accountability became controversial. If everything’s supposed to be gentle... — read more

Sports?

I love sports as much as the next guy. But where does this place get off finding former athletes and having them connect lessons learned from playing baseball or basketball in their teens and early 20s to running a global business? We can’t find a... — read more

It’s been nearly two months since I lost my job

The moment it happened, I dove straight into applying for new roles. Every weekday, I follow the same routine: up early, coffee in hand, scouring job boards. I don’t just stick to roles that fit perfectly. I throw my hat in the ring for anything... — read more

MDT stock price su-ks big time

Who would want to invest in MDT, besides mutual funds that need to spread money around? Geoff wonder boy has done a great job sinking shareholder value since Omar the dum--ss promoted him to CEO. Another GE ha----b in my opinion. So tired of these... — read more

The management and board is out of control

Unbelievable that they promoted a guy to lead CV who previously ran Nuvasive to the ground (ending up with cheap acquisition by Globus) and promoted another guy to run CST, who previously ran Nevro to the ground (acquired by Globus in a fire... — read more

Medtronic a SICK Company?

Is it fair to assume that Medtronic a SICK Company considering that Share holders have lost $$ big time in last 10 Years without even considering SP500 growth and/or adjusted Inflation. I wish there was a executive pay clawbacks so that MDT board... — read more

I’m completely demoralized

This particular round of layoffs has been a tipping point. I can’t even pinpoint exactly why. I haven’t been happy in my role here for a while. There’s been a persistent sense that the culture is deteriorating, and I’ve found myself enjoying both the... — read more

Who would buy Diabetes???

Who would offer a good price, assuming an IPO will NOT generate the cash needed to line Geoffrey’s pockets? Diabetes is integrated so much within the Medtronic manufacturing plants, so what happens there? Also, the diabetes business is small in... — read more

God help you if you end up staying in Diabetes

Well, if you didn't need any more evidence that the board and c-suite is loaded with rent-seekers hand picked by Geoff to prop him up and share around the profits as they pump and dump Medtronic by slow death, Que's appointment as CEO about seals it... — read more

The 5 S’s of Corporate Stupidity

Well today In staff meeting we learned about the 5 S program being rolled out across the enterprise. Here’s what they are doing with this absolute moral ki-ler: No microwaves allowed in common areas. We had microwave on our area for over 20... — read more

Be your authentic self at work

“Be your authentic self at work!” Oh, you mean until you lay me off? And then I’m supposed to suddenly become a robotic, smiling, NDA-signing shell of a person just to collect the severance I earned? Got it. So authenticity is great… until it... — read more

AI is not taking over

Hilarious that people think AI will take over. AI can only be effective if our data is in good shape, which it is not. It is inconsistent, incomplete, error prone, and very much out of date. We’ve invested millions of dollars into planning and... — read more

Cuts are over. Now the mess begins.

Since the cuts were made strictly by the numbers, many skilled and experienced people were let go. As a result, even more critical roles will be missing from our teams. Add to that the fact that some teams are now down to skeleton crews, and you get... — read more

This place is a masterclass in bad leadership

Business Updates?

Greetings All! Im just wondering what is the overall update? Are the cuts finished? we already into mid May, so i this we over the worst? or am i wrong?

Devastated. Whole department let go.

We got the dreaded day before "urgent business update" meeting invite, just to be walked off the unit that some of my colleagues knew for over 20 years barely 24 hours after. Security escort through the halls early in the morning like we were some... — read more

How about that Organization Health Survey!

Twice a year we get asked if we would go above and beyond for the company. Clearly Medtronic won't go above and beyond for us. Do us a favor, just send the survey to executives and have them answer the questions. They are the problem.

Completely disillusioned

This was my first job out of college. I was so excited when I got the offer. I learned a lot in the early years and even managed to make some progress. But since then, it’s felt like a steady downhill slide. I’ve never felt so unappreciated. It’s... — read more

Not making the same mistake again

One thing I’ve learned since joining Medtronic: I will never again work for a company that lays off employees during strong financial results. If leadership is this quick to cut people when things are good, I can only imagine how they’ll act when... — read more
