We Could Have Done the Same Thing

ConocoPhillips is in the process of executing a huge layoff.
One thing they’re doing is offering Expressions of Interest for those employees interested in leaving voluntarily. This will give a number of employees the chance to stay that otherwise would have been laid off.
P66 could have done the same thing but that wouldn’t have caused near as much heartache.

RIF's

All managers of sites concerned have been told to make a list. Voluntary RIF Notifications to go around the end of November to early December with terminations taking place by mid to end of January. like before people will be given the option to voluntarily apply. They want us to quit

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. The goal is to get many of us to the point where we can’t take the stress anymore and walk out on our own. That saves them money on severance. That’s why they’ll drag this out into several rounds. That’s why the culture keeps getting more toxic by the day. They want us gone, and they don’t want to pay us to leave.

A Thoughtful Approach to Workforce Reductions

When organizations face the difficult decision of reducing headcount, it’s important to balance business needs with employee well-being. Instead of removing people randomly, one approach could be to create a “wishlist” where employees can voluntarily express interest in leaving.

This method allows:
• Employees who are ready for their next chapter to exit with dignity.
• Critical roles and talent to be retained for business continuity.
• The process to feel more transparent and humane, reducing uncertainty and anxiety.

Such an approach acknowledges that some team members may already be considering new opportunities, while others are deeply committed to staying. By aligning both organizational and individual needs, Dell can manage necessary changes with empathy and fairness.

If there are layoffs, I hope they let us volunteer

I’m really hoping they give us a chance to leave voluntarily because I would take it immediately. Things have been so tense and uncertain, it feels like the best move to step away before the stress really hits hard. Having a way out would be a huge relief and give me a chance to reset and find something better.

Why is working for Ford such a dreadful experience?

Has it always been this bad? Internal processes that are archaic. No defined method of project management disorganized chaos and slide decks Webex, Slack now Teams just choose one for sake of my sanity!! Jira ticket after jira ticket and throwing over the wall mentality.
I will be glad to leave this dreadful company.

Should have taken the package

Anyone else filling like they should have taken the package. On the verge of just putting my two weeks in. Management sc--wed up big time on this reorg and no transition made the stand up of the new org a damn mess. End of the day leadership will not take accountability but will continue to get fat bonuses. Almost so horrible all you can do is laugh at this point.
