Does it count against you if you step out for a break?

How does the hour tracking even work? In Minneapolis there’s a “site leader event” outside so does that mean if we attend then we need to stay longer since we are leaving the building ?? Or is it just based on your last active timestamp? This RTO tracking is becoming ridiculous. We are not children!

Audit

Will audit ever slow down the revolving door of people leaving? Every time you turn around you are explaining a finding to a new auditor that is so clueless you wonder how TAS operates and gets anything done.

Do layoff calendar invites every go out the day before?

Over the years I've read many posts on here stating that layoff notices go out the same day as the layoff conversation.

Sometimes people continue lurking on this board after they've been laid off. Has anyone been laid off and gotten the notice the day before?

CNRL Yes or No

Generally speaking, most O&G companies are a mess. Changes to work from home; limited to no longer available, chaotic environments, and inconsistent leadership. I've worked at a few, and each one felt like its own kind of circus.

That said, what makes CNRL stand out (negatively) compared to peers like Cenovus or Suncor?

If you started at CNRL’s Calgary corporate office, what do you wish you’d known beforehand? Would you genuinely advise others to steer clear?

Would ExxonMobil buy OxyChem?

Occidental Petroleum in talks to sell OxyChem chemical unit for at least $10 billion

Occidental Petroleum has announced that it is in advanced talks to sell its chemical division, OxyChem, for at least $10 billion. The announcement sent Occidental's stock rising over 1% in premarket trading. The potential sale is expected to accelerate the company’s efforts to reduce debt and improve shareholder returns, according to Barclays. An announcement could come in the next few weeks, marking a strategic shift for Occidental as it focuses more on financial strengthening and streamlining operations.

OxyChem is a major global producer of chlor-alkali, PVC and caustic potash, with strong cash flow and links to Occidental’s Direct Air Capture initiatives. Despite its operational value—evident in Barclays’ projected EBITDA growth from $1.24 billion in 2025 to $1.46 billion in 2027—Occidental appears willing to divest the unit to boost balance sheet health. The $10 billion price tag reflects a roughly 7x EBITDA multiple for 2026–2027, higher than the company’s current valuation multiples. Even after taxes, the deal is expected to be slightly accretive, further reinforcing positive investor sentiment.

Is severance negotiable?

They're basically giving it to us so we don't sue them down the line, right? So is there a way to negotiate the number or any benefits that might come with it? I'm sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but this is the first time I'm facing layoffs and I'm just curious.

So... what now?

I was fortunate to get a job in the last wave, although it was nothing that I had applied for. The only information I have on the role is the few lines of generic description that I was sent after the fact. I don't even know who my boss is. Again, I'm glad to have a job, but it leaves me wondering... what now?

Target cost savings $2 billions

Is that per year or over several years?

Because if the target is saving 2B from laying off, the math doesn’t seem to jive. Lets say avg employees salary+benefits etc is $300k/yr/person, which is a reasonably high est for avg, laying off 3k will only amount to 0.9B. How could they target to save 2B and said estimated 2-3k employees?

Equipment return

Need some help. I was part of the RIF earlier this month. Given WARN, my last day is Nov 3. However, I got the equipment return box this week. Am I supposed to return the equipment now (within 5 days) or wait until Nov 3rd ? I have no use for the laptop but since I am still on the payroll (albeit garden leave) until Nov3 , I wasn’t sure if I should return things now.

relocation payback period

Heritage Pioneer here. Pretty tired of this s...t show already. Nothing good here. Time to leave before it gets too damaging to my health.
How long do I have to stay not to repay for relocation? I know it's 12 month, but from which date does the count starts? is it buying of the new house? selling of the previous one? or from the start date at the new office?
