NG PTO/Vacation Policy

Just a quick question, I've been with NG for 7 months now. I've been in the corporate world for 20+ years and I didn't quite understand how backwards their PTO policy is. I was given 40 hours upon my onboarding in October. At the beginning of the year, I was not given any additional hours. I accrue PTO at 3.04 hours every two weeks. This policy doesn't seem competitive with any company I've ever been associated with. Even retail places like Walmart or Di-k's has a better policy.

Northern Metal Fab Workers Sue After Abrupt Layoffs

Dozens of former Northern Metal Fab, Inc. employees are suing the company's owners. They allege abrupt layoffs occurred without proper notice. Employees also claim they were not paid final wages or unused vacation time. Their health insurance was reportedly canceled despite continued premium payments. The company plans to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy due to financial viability issues.

What I like about BNY Mellon

There is a lot of negative sentiment here, so I want to focus on the positive stuff and why I appreciate BNY:
1) 7% 401K match - more than most financial services firms (for example, Morgan Stanley gives 4%)

2) Pretty generous vacation entitlement

3) If you leave the company, they pay for the vacation days you haven't taken

4) laid back, friendly culture in most groups

2 questions the FAQ sheet to RIF'd employees doesn't address

  1. If you haven't submitted claims against all the flex dollars, deducted from your paycheck, by your termination date, are the unused deducted dollars refunded to you? (Conversely, if you were reimbursed for more than was yet deducted from your paycheck, do you have to pay it back?)

  2. When you're reimbursed for unused accrued vacation days in your final paycheck, does that include unused carryover days? If you were RIF'd in 1Q, it's quite possible you didn't use all carryover days yet. If you were RIF'd in NY in 1Q, your termination date is in 2Q. Workday drops carryover days after March 31. Your Workday balance as of the 2Q termination date does not reflect unused carryover days. If HR uses Workday to determine unused accrued vacation days as of termination date (or, if you meet rule of 60, as of December 31), then HR won't see the carryover balance.

Vacation out or take the year’s vacation ?

Is it better to vacation out or try to take the year’s worth of vacation before you leave?
I’m looking at the vacation policy and it says you can’t use vacation from previous year to vacation out. Anyone know how it works? Don’t want to ask HR because I’m not telling them I’m retiring yet

Help with Actual Several Expected???

Could some of you help me with what I can actually expected to receive after my last date of 12/19 in Ga office? I see a specific amount calculated by my total comp divided by years of serviced and then multiple by two.

Will I receive any of the following in addition to that?
1) Vacation days paid out?
2) Current Stock together un-vested amount?
3) 2025 STI?

Thank you.

What about previously scheduled holiday vacations?

I have international vacation trips for Thanksgiving and Christmas already approved and non-refundable airline tickets purchased. If I'm not on the list I assume I will not be claiming the vacation days and will get extra pay for the vacation days not claimed.

What if I am not selected but half my team is?

Accrued Vacation Hours Payout

I was wondering if anyone who joined Oracle before 2018 and were on the accrued vacation hours system before the switch to Flex PTO, is aware that Oracle deducts accrued vacation hours each year during the company-wide Winter Break.

What this means is over time, any vacation hours saved up before 2018 would eventually go down to zero — and employees leaving the company now wouldn’t receive a payout for those previously accrued hours.

For those who joined after 2018, their Winter Breaks are fully covered without any deduction (because there's nothing to deduct). I’m curious if others have noticed the same.

You will NOT be paid for sick days after a firing or layoff

When you are fired or layedoff , TCS will ONLY pay out the vacation days and only because it is required by law in states. Many states have varying laws covering sick days payout, but for the most part you will NOT be payed sick days accumulated.
So, given holidays are near, put in for sick days by saying it is for routine physicals, or planned outpatient procedures and take all your sick days.
You will NOT be payed out any outstanding sick days and are giving TCS a financial gift when they are not payed out.
You have been told, god bless all those that will be affected this massive layoff due to the Trump H1-B $100K per APPLICATION fee..

I'd be willing to pay to WFH

I don't know about you but I would be willing to pay for WFH days.

Anyone else?

Not ideal, especially since they already took a week of vacation away from 20+ year managers; but it would be worth it some days.

Perhaps it's a new revenue stream?

It's complete bullsh-t that so many people are still working remote without any monitoring at all. I don't understand why they have been protected.

Does Oracle pay for your unused vacations

Oracle has unlimited vacation policy on manager discretion. But I noticed managers ensure employee doesn’t take vacations often beyond 2-3 weeks per year. So what happens to those unused vacations on your layoff? Is it wise to take vacations before expected announcements?
