Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Is badge access cut off immediately?

Just curious if I need to gather all my personal items before Thurs.

Monday would probably be the best day to go in. If you stay, I wouldn't bring anything personal back. Be anonymous like they want Vteamers to be going forward

the amount of id--t/cruel responses on this site is annoying. In the past you would have been able to access the office to clear out your things. Even if they tell employees on Thursday not to come back to the office and stay remote through off-payroll, you will be able to collect your personal items after that time.

If you're led outside, and put up against a wall, RUN!

The key to your house won't even fit Thursday.

@"No it is not. You're still an employee and can access buildings and most systems."

I think you're in for a major surprise come Thursday!

You will get a message that your services are no longer needed. Within a few minutes, your access will be cut as though you never existed. Because of the WARN Act, you will "technically" continue to be an employee but will be asked not to communicate with anybody externally or internally, or legal recourse will follow, including termination of severance. Retained employees will be asked to avoid social media or there will be a threat of termination. Something like that.

To be safe, better to be prepared for this possibility. Collect your belongings from the office and anything you want to save from your computer and work phone.

I've never kept anything personal at work, the desk is completely empty when I leave for the day when in the offices.

You hand them in locally then they go to HQ in basking Ridge and are disposed of. System access is denied the next day after your last day that is documented for you. It all moves pretty fast.

Band 6 her. Yes the instructions for us is to take the badge, the laptop and the company car if they have one. It is different than the ones before as we used to have them keep everything and hand it 30 days from the notification which is the period they are going to say on payroll.

@OP yes and your family photos and verizon awards will be auctioned off on ebay. Unsold items are then donated to local goodwill stores. You cant even keep your swingline stapler

No it is not. You're still an employee and can access buildings and most systems. You're expected to be professional or you risk having your payout held. You're not expected to work but you can either transition your work out or you can look for positions internally. Do not go crazy and continue to work. If you dont plan to stay or find another role then just sit back and relax. I dont know anyone who came back to the office for anything. Why waste the gas?
