I've recently noticed several people who were Auditors/Education are now back to working as regular medical coders. Seems like a demotion to me, what happened?

Maybe they want people to do actual work that has value.
Yeah or forced to change jobs/teams completely.
Happens a lot. “Take the demotion or you’re done.” They do this in corporate too.
