NBC New’s Program — Cost of Denial

Tonight’s episode on the 6:30pm news, showcased a gentleman Mr. Middleton, whom has Bile Duct Cancer was denied a life extending dr-g Ziihera that hos Oncologist and team recommended.

Cigna denied and suggested another dr-g that most likely would not extend Mr. Middleton’s life long enough to obtain the liver transplant he needs. Unlike the recommended dr-g Ziihera most likely would

Just another example as to how profits are being placed before member’s health. Our healthcare system is truly broken.

Oftentimes I hear persons say that reason why healthcare is so expensive in the U.S. is because of all the state of the art technology and research. And although I do not doubt that is the case, I think persons would take maybe less state of the art technologies and research, if they could at least have their healthcare actually save their life in an affordable way, when needed.

To use a metaphor, what good would it be if all commercial planes got replaced with an equivalent to airforce one, if because of that now, it would cost a person $20k to fly from San Diego to San Francisco?

Also, I think there is a lot of greed going on where C-Suite executives are getting paid millions, Large Bank Investors are making major profits, and because of that, which has been recognized by hospitals and providers now figure they might as well not be left out of the profit gains and charging exponential costs for services that would have cost a fraction in the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. And I won’t even bother mentioning Pharmaceutical manufacturers. I really do not know what to think about it nor what can be done.

Anyway, here below is a little about that news program, if you want to check it out.

(Not sure yet if Humana has ever been mentioned yet on this program but would not be surprised. Unless of course they pay off NBC a big fat check for millions to keep them out of any episodes.)

"The Cost of Denial" is an NBC News series that investigates the financial and emotional impact of insurance companies denying claims for health, home, or auto coverage. The series features stories of people struggling to get coverage for medical treatments, repairs, and medications, highlighting how insurers use processes like prior authorization to deny claims. NBC News provides an email, CostofDenial@nbcuni.com, for individuals to share their experiences with insurance denials.

Another episode tonight on NBC The Cost of Denial, where at first a little girl was denied her surgery by Anthem Bluecross Blueshield for an ear, which she needed. They said her specialist was out of network and recommended 5 or 6 specialists in her network. However, when the parents reached out to the recommended specialists, they all refused to perform the surgery.

Well, guess what, shortly after NBC Cost of Denial reported the story, Anthem Bluecross Blueshield magically had a change of heart and approved the surgery with the out of network specialist.

I am beyond sick of all of these claims denials that then they change their minds as soon as they get some bad Public Relations press from the media.

Why is Health Insurance like this now? It was not always like this. We all know the answer; we let greedy bankers in and allowed profits to take precedence over patient health & wellbeing.

In case the below post was not clear, one night the insurance company had a light shined upon them that shamed them for not approving a claim that would save someone’s life.

Then, the very next day, we hear reported from the same news program and update how NOW the person is being helped with the Oncologist recommended life saving dr-g that initially was denied.

I cannot tell you how many times that I have seen similar situations on this program where the member was denied much needed life saving treatment but then after NBC brought to life, the insurance company caved and then approved.

It is really a shame when it takes someone having to have National News shame to insurance company before they will approve the claim that their provider or specialist had recommended.

Why has our healthcare come to this?!

Update:

Somehow, coincidentally, after NBC Cost of Denial reported on Cigna denying the life saving dr-g Ziihera to Mr. John Middleton, whom has Bile Duct Cancer, today we hear on the same program that a dr-g pharmacy is going g to provide Mr. Middleton the dr-g at no charge.

Thank God, not Cigna, but thank God!

I really wish all of these profit machine Large Private Health Insurance Corporations, Humana included, would stop denying life saving treatments and dr-gs to patients that just want to live as long as they can.

All I have to say, and I say this to those millionaires/billionaires thinking of starting any kind of insurance company.

If your company cannot afford to (or simply do not want to) pay out claims, then do not start such a company.

People buy insurance for a reason. And please do not add to the corruption we call healthcare.

Please go into banking instead. Or maybe start up another one of those sleezy loan shark companies that has an unbelievable interest rate.

In America, healthcare denial is the cruel way of practicing euthanasia. Our government , Private equity , wall street brags that we have the most advanced medical technology, dr-gs, and doctors — but what good are they if U.S. citizens can’t access care? A system that prioritizes profit over people turns medical progress into a moral failure.
