Be prepared

Business Retail and TfB layoffs have been rumored since the IT layoffs in August. If it is going to happen, timing wise it makes sense to wait until after the holidays.

Everyone sounds surprised when this happens! It is the new world order. Expect it to happen and be prepared by saving as much money as possible. Keep your expenses down. No credit card debt, no car loans. Live modestly. Keep your resume updated. Keep your professional network current/ relevant.

I started investing a piece of my salary each paycheck into an index fund for emergencies like losing my job. It has grown into a years salary overtime. If I never need it will be for retirement.

It will happen. You will lose your job. We all will eventually. Don’t stress or lose sleep, be prepared!! No one is coming to save you!! Have a plan, especially if you have a family.

This is not a TMO thing, or an IT thing, it happens everywhere and will eventually hit everyone.

Good advice by @ax+1k721721k.

Wheels Up to India

This week a big group heads to India including Penny, a few ELT and OC, Operations, and Digital. 30 GPs and directors will be touring cities in India to make a decision on where the Edward Jones Flag will be placed in India. This is the next round of Enterprise Reimagined they told us about called Sourcing and Shoring which means outsourcing more US jobs to India. Get ready all, you are not safe and this next phase of ER will be way bigger in job lose then anything we just went through. Another few hundred jobs will be eliminted and moved to India in 2026 and will be higher in 2027.

January Layoffs

So I heard TD Mike and AMEX Sathish are at it again discussing layoffs. Imagine enjoying your holidays with family and then walking into work on January 6th, 2026 and being told "the bank didn't meet our goals so we have to let you go." That's literally what's going to happen to most of you. No notice. No warning. They're going to read right off a script to you with HR present and act like they care. What you need to do (right now) is find another role between now and December, grab a late January / Early February 2026 start date, and have it lined up for when they do these layoffs on Tuesday January 6th, 2026.
They'll say you can't get paid by them and work somewhere else but there's nothing they can do about that when you do. Take their money and make money in your new role. Double dip on this losing bank. Make them lose harder than they did last year when Russ tanked their stock price and made headlines. Make them lose harder than the board running JB off to bring in an absolute failure that didn't make it a year at Discover. Get the cards rolling now - nothing happens during the holidays (hiring wise) - people like Sathish are too busy taking selfies at Southpark Footlocker next to the Size 5 SB Dunks. Use Jobscan to beat the AI screening systems these companies use. Get your resume looked at. Prevail.

Not to sound rude, but the people who don’t get laid off will have it harder

Getting laid off is probably the best thing to happen to someone. You get a paid vacation for whatever your severance covers. You don’t have to work. All of your work is just dumped on some poor soul who was chosen to stay. You can do whatever you want. If I stay, I’ll be jealous of everyone who goes.

Accenture spent $2 billion in 3 years... to sack employees!

Accenture has reduced its workforce by more than 11,000 employees in the past quarter, spending over $2 billion on severance in recent years as the company undertakes a major restructuring driven by automation and changing industry demands.

Some of you just don't get it...

The new CEO, that's not change. It is the continuation of a plan. If l have seen this and lived it.

Meatball did the job that Blackrock commanded. He hollowed out the company, and outsourced much of it. The only thing not yet completed it the conversion of direct store to the Big 6 indirects. But that is coming.

The Checkmark has lost a lot of ground, and that was intentional. Next will be a massacre of senior managers and higher. Also.maybe a sell off of prepaid.

And then they will sell the cold, dead empty husk of the company to the highest bidders for scrap. We will be the AOL of telecommunications and we will be left to ponder "the good old days" as if we ever had them.

Our Workforce… the very best in the industry…. Does he hear himself?

In today’s SETH opening remarks, MW’s finished talking about all the great work underway by saying that “what underpins all of this is our culture and workforce, the very best in our industry, and I wouldn’t trade them for anybody else’s.”

When he said that I immediately thought of all the US employees (the workforce he wouldn’t trade for anybody else) he fired so that he could hire someone into the same job in a different country (so basically traded for someone else)…. Did anyone else hear it that way?

High performers targeted again

Judging from what people have been reporting, the better you were at your job, the more essential you were to a project, the more experienced and skilled, the higher your chances of being laid off. I guess quality is expensive. I just wonder where the breaking point is, when everything will finally fall apart, seemingly all at once.

Each layoff reduces my productivity

After each round of cuts I stopped doing something, whether it's the overtime or the extra polishing that used to matter to me. At first I fought to keep standards up, then I realized it was nothing but self punishment. Now I guard my time and try not to let the job eat me, and I make sure to do just a bit less after every round.

Robotics business

How sc--wed is everybody? I know every single acquisition comes with layoffs, I'm just wondering how bad it's going to get. I'm no fan of ABB but I've been reading up on SoftBank and to be frank, I haven't exactly been happy with what I've read so far.

I hate layoffs, I fear layoffs, but...

This time my manager was laid off. That useless, d-mb weasel of a man managed to avoid every layoff so far and was even close to a promotion when this happened. I admit, I did a happy dance. That man made the lives of his entire team miserable on a daily basis, and for once, literally for once, they actually got rid of the right person. So yes, I hate layoffs, but this one I kind of enjoyed.

If you want to work for an ethical company, then don’t work for Cisco

The SLT and legal team are experts ant appearing to follow the law while behind the scenes, discriminating on age and other attributes; anything to make the stock price go up. Real business leaders don’t layoff good loyal people during good times. Wake up world to what the Cisco SLT has been doing the drive the stock price up! We need a good class action lawsuit to make things right. Nobody in the world has the resources to stand up to the Cisco machine, but there are plenty of voices out there that want to be heard. While I doubtful that all the people impacted can coordinate a class action lawsuit, one thing I know for sure, is these SLT folks can look at their big bank accounts, but they have to live what they’ve knowingly doing to us!

Well said, @b1+1k6zc141p.

Overpaying Again

Poor MEG. I feel bad for their people. They will surely be taken over by CVE now. $8.6B really?? $17.6B to get out of FCCL. Phillips paying them $1.9B for their share of the refineries. The only thing this company is consistent at is overpaying, getting ripped off and then laying off. No wonder their stock is always in the toilet. Employees should get out now!!!! Go across the street. Go anywhere. What a dumpster fire.
