Last week, my bosses boss put a 1 x 1 on my calendar with no context for Wednesday, 2/11. I’ve never met with my bosses boss before (a VP). Should I be concerned it might be a layoff? I’ve been seeing threads that layoffs with Cigna only occur on Thursdays at the end of a pay cycle (which would be 2/12). Timing is close but maybe because it’s a Wednesday it’s for something different?

Yeah my bosses boss changed my skip level 1:1 from April to today 2/19. My suspicions of being the oldest employee in our group who would be a candidate for this layoff were confirmed when my “skip level” 1:1 interview included my boss also. All I can say is Cigna treated me well and I enjoyed our team and the job. I won the second quarter “drive for results” but that doesn’t count for much, does it? Layoffs behind technology reasons are a sham. Customers deserve real people and the human element of experience.
Update: I was not laid off. Live to fight another day…. for now
Well now we need to know! Please keep us posted. I think a Wednesday is unlikely but you never know.
Did you get fired?
PBM will be decimated by end of this year, very sad, all that talent.
:(
@da It's on a pay week so maybe I have that going for me.
Let’s see. The last time an employee of mine was laid off, my boss met with them and did it. I’d respond back and ask for subject so you can be prepared.
My weekly one on one got changed to thus morning on the 19th. Gotta a gut feeling that’s what it is.
i think you are fine, this isn’t a day they’d normally fire someone.
i’d turn that sh-t back on them. “hey so i’m trying to prove value. what do YOU do around here that’s valuable?”
then listen intensively and when finally they stop talking just nod for 30 seconds in silence. end the call abruptly mid sentence and message them later that you had internet problems but thanks for the chat.

Is Thursday a normal workday at your location? Some properties only are in office Tues/wed.
Your boss is probably about to have a target on his back.
It’s probably to see what it is you do exactly and/or to talk/ask questions about your boss.
