Why 3/3 vs 2/17

I keep seeing 3/3 is the big day, but what is so special about 3/3? Has anyone heard anything about 2/17? It’s a Tuesday after the largest payday of the year. And, Monday is a holiday. For me, the application I work on is supposed to retire on 3/1 and the work I’m doing over the next 2 weeks is kind of throw away. Just curious why 3/3?

Merit Delay

Anyone else find it sus that merit got delayed to 2/16? That aligns with multiple reports of layoffs on 2/16. People on my team are hearing the managers are going to deliver severance papers instead of merit to those who are being let go. Normally I don’t listen to rumor but the dates are lining up and leaders are very quiet lately and I think they’re avoiding having to talk to us. Everything was so rush-rush before OE but they’re silent now. Then we get an email that a bunch of people got forcefully moved and were supposed to work hard and feel safe?

EAP FEC Meeting

Today we had a rather disturbing EAP meeting for teams who recently lost leaders as a means to check in. While the sentiment was nice it quickly turned into , IS MY JOB SECURE?
To which we were met with nothing short of WE DONT KNOW! There a chirpings of the FEC family engagement center being shut down . I’m sure that this was the heads up today

I have a feeling FT will drop the contract entirely.

Am I alone in thinking that? They are already moving CS which is a big portion of the process. What is keeping them from moving everything back? They are obviously not happy with the work that is done by FIS. I can't even imagine how bad the cooperation between FT CS and FIS Operations/Support will be.

Enough with the layoff doomsday news

To everyone freaking out potential layoffs:

1) Ask yourself the question, would they really have another round after laying off so many people?
2) why spread the pain out over a long period? Most firms, just rip the band aid and get it over and done with in one go.
3) most of the fat has been trimmed. What's left is some muscle and bone.
4) our stock is through the roof, aliviating any pressure from Wall St. No need to take out any further costs
5) the only people served by all the layoff talk are disgruntled ex Vz folks or current employees who think we can cut our way to prosperity

Makes you wonder?

Honest question.
Why the sudden urgency around rebranding town halls, one-on-ones, and skip-level meetings… especially when layoffs are happening or rumored?

What’s the point of pushing culture talk and rebranding if people are worried about their jobs? And why are so many of these meetings being scheduled on Thursdays, the same day layoffs usually happen? That timing alone puts people on edge.

I’m genuinely asking—has anyone been through this before and knows what the strategy is? Transparency would go a long way right now.

Layoff Rumors Continue

Since November, there have been persistent rumors of a significant layoff, with Boston CG frequently mentioned as being involved. Nothing ultimately came of it following our November earnings call, but the rumors resurfaced later, with speculation that decisions were finalized by mid-January. This week, our CEO shared a company-wide video stressing that the next 90 days are critical, which would carry us through the end of tax season. Beyond that, the outlook is unclear.

Morale among the ICs and M2/3s I’ve spoken with is low, even outside of MTV HQ. There’s constant pressure to move faster while priorities shift rapidly, and leadership has increasingly been framing Human Intelligence HI as if it were a newly discovered idea and the act of thinking.
