Laid off in December. Received email from BNY recruiter about current job openings

I was part of the mass layoffs in December. The other day I received an email from a recruiter about a few contract to hire openings that they felt I’d be a good fit for. They found my resume on one of the job boards that I’m using. I stated that I was part of the mass layoffs and the recruiter stated the were aware and had roles they needed to fill.

It’s sounding like they know they sc--wed themselves and are scrambling to fix it.

What a giant slap in the face.

Severance or Special Payment Received?

Has anyone from the mid January layoff communication received either Severance payment or Special Payment?

Guessing all of this, as well as PTO payout will all come after term date, but just checking because of the language in the agreement:

" ....will be made as soon as administratively practical following the
execution of this agreement by you, but not later than March 15 of the calendar year
following the execution of this Agreement"

This will be massive and broad reaching - How to tell if you're getting RIF'd.

Keep an eye out for a "Important Business Update" appointment scheduled in your calendar on a Monday or Wednesday Evening. If you see that, you will be RIF'd the following morning. Your computer is locked almost immediately after you are notified, so if you have stuff you want on it, disconnect it from WIFI so you can pull off any personal data. To figure out who else on your team is also impacted, try scheduling a meeting with your boss, and all your teammates that day with your calendar tool. That will give you an overlay of availability. Anyone else with 15 minute slots that overlap with your boss's calendar are getting RIF'd that day too. This will be Oracle's largest RIF yet, they are starving for cash and the easiest way to fix that is by reducing headcount - 8% reduction is likely.

Oracle is considering laying off 20,000 to 30,000 employees. This aims to generate $8-10 billion for AI infrastructure. The company faces high costs from major AI client commitments like OpenAI. Watch for your Business update tomorrow

Rumors in the leadership chat are that large layoffs are to begin tomorrow and go through Wednesday. Most groups won't be affected but from what I have heard it's primarily ISG, CSG, IT, and then small percentages throughout other groups. Those who have been consistently lacking in office visits are also being HEAVILY targeted, as well.

Massive layoffs coming..

Most of VPs, AVPs and Directors are su-king all the dollars away from the company. All they do is send and forward emails. Utter waste (Co-pilot is doing a better job) Fire them now and save the real workers before there is no one left in the company.

Apologize for the layoff rumors

I hope the folks who predicted a layoff every week since the last one in November will finally give up and apologize to all current employees for needlessly strirring the pot. It's March and no sings or talk of a layoff. Nada. Zilch. Not one AVP or VP has mentioned anything even remotely related to a layoff. Just because Vz has uhh ndertaken layoff every year doesn't mean we should have another one this year - big or small. Even Dan is more focussed on cost/opex transformation via AI and renegotiating contracts, not via layoffs. Our financial performance/net adds has been stellar and the markets are rightfully rewarding us for that. Our debt profile has gotten much better and with buybacks and a committed dividend, Wall St loves us which will help us in the capital markets to fund other initiatives as well. TMo better watch their backs.

Remember - even a broken clock is right twice a day. Some of you are just that. Stop with the fear mongering

Just rip off the band-aid

Medicare UM has been hobbling along, with not enough work, since early January. Upper management says that a "strategic decision" was made to pull out of some "overly costly markets", with an expected 22% reduction in membership. It does not take rocket science to understand that if you reduce membership by 22%, you will need 22% less staff, not including cuts for automation.
We all know the RIFs are coming. What are they waiting on? Just put us out of our misery so we can figure out what we are doing with our lives.

Grass is Def Greener on the Other Side

Last day was 2/20. Already saw my health improve with my BP and stress coming down. My kids see me more and my quality of life without that workload has been wonderful. Universe was good to remove me from that shedshow happening now. Peace out VZ. You were but only a training ground in my career journey. Only regret was I wish I left before I put more than 10 years in.

Do all layoff notices hit the WARN board?

I see categories for 0-10. Seems to me, if only 1 or 2 people in a site were laid off, they'd fit in that 0-10 category and be listed? Wondering how or when WF files, or what the rules are. I was let go on 9/30/25 but don't see anything on WARN for my location.
