They cost a bunch right away with severance and other related stuff, and then they hire new people who might be cheaper but are less productive and sometimes need two new employees to cover what one person used to do. How does that somehow equate to savings?

Will Optum Advisory be impacted by the 04/30 layoff cycle? Seems like we have dodged many cycles with minimal impact as we are most of the time pure profit, except people who are on the bench, so they are typically the ones cut if OA does have impact. Any insight for 04/30 cycle?

Although they didn't technically have a layoff of employees and have to report anything, TD did cut significant amount of contractors (approx. 200) last week (03.11.26). . .

Since Charlie Scharf assumed command of Wells Fargo, the company has deteriorated both from a macro and micro perspective. He has laid off staff, the stock has collapsed, and he lacks leadership skills and clients have suffered. Therefore, at the next townhall meeting, a vote will be taken and Charlie should be asked to leave. Then, the firm should be broken up into separate parts and sold. Enough is enough.

Stanislaus County faces significant job losses from recent company closures. Del Monte Foods is closing its Modesto fruit cannery, impacting approximately 1,800 workers. BlueOval SK laid off all 1,600 workers at its Hardin County battery plant. Kentucky invested $250 million in taxpayer money for the plant's infrastructure. Hardin County also spent $1.6 million in federal relief funds. The layoffs caused the county to lose an estimated $100,000 to $200,000 in occupational tax revenue. County leaders now face a tight budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

Family Dollar will close its Matthews distribution center. The closure is planned for this summer. A WARN report indicates 373 employees will be laid off. Dollar Tree acquired Family Dollar and faced operational difficulties. Consumer spending has also tightened at bargain chains.

WME is conducting its first round of layoffs since the pandemic. The agency is eliminating 30 positions across various departments. This reduction impacts 3% of the total staff. AI isn't working as well as Mike would like. I hear 2026/early 2027 layoffs are delayed by 6-12 months. Mike is not happy. 115m dollars is being deployed to consultants to "make it work".

BNSF is currently staging transportation department for layoffs, currently doing so under the guise of “business picking up” after just slashing corporate and management for the exact opposite reason. Currently recalling TY&E personnel, including loan outs, back to home terminals, while cutting all 675 and 674 voluntary furlough and ready to work boards, to gather accurate figures of where permanent cuts can be made. This is being done under corporate deception of business picking up, while directly misleading union officers and officials, so as not to cause purposeful disruption in rail services including premature taking of vacation days, exhausting boards, or “lay downs.” BNSF corporate has sent terminal and regional superintendents direct instructions to manufacture a list as to staffing totals, and how to cut total numbers by up to 20% in order to save BNSF 1.5 billion in the fiscal year 2026, with primary cuts occurring in this quarter. Take precautions as nothing only affects BNSF management at the railroad.

This seems to be the way to act post layoffs. It conveys alignment, insights and inspiration to guarantee a front row seat to the greatest transformation of all time. At scale!

My LMFAO this am… CDW having a collections attorney making threat calls for $400 or so owed on an employee computer purchase… over two years after I was laid off. Money must be tight.

The layoffs are CONSTANT. They keep them small so they don’t have to be reported. But they are happening ALL THE TIME.

This is something people need to realize and accept. There's no point in asking when we'll be having more layoffs when layoffs never really stop.

Oklahoma County officials scheduled a special meeting. They will vote on additional funding for the jail. This funding aims to prevent a massive layoff. The jail faces a budget shortfall of over $5 million. The county's Budget Board will consider covering the deficit.

Illinois employers reported thousands of mass layoffs last month. The actual number of affected workers is closer to 2,300. The manufacturing sector recorded 1,264 permanent job losses. Has anyone else noticed a growing pattern / trend with Dell layoffs where "someone" will "leak" information about a particular group or org's upcoming layoffs, but layoffs are not for months out. Then, the company will do everything in its power to make their lives a living he-l so they quit on their own before their slated layoff time.

I've seen this pattern over and over now. Pretty slimy way to run a business. The forced attrition has gotten out of control.

In previous companies I've worked at, the direct mgr does the layoff but from what I see in OT it's the VP who does the lay off ?
