Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

This is more than employees being riffed

This round is employees. Next round The Company is literally eliminating groups. Any business that's been struggling to make money is gone. They make no money in advertising because yahoo was a failure, they make no money in fleet, no money in video they failed at TV and the streaming business, no money in international business, no money in cyber security, no money in government contracts

Dan is focused on being a wireless phone company with hopes of AI bringing new ideas to the table. The old ideas are going to be eliminated

@an Blue Jeans! Talk about trying to capture a moment but being too late to the party. By the time Blue Jeans was available for mass market during the pandemic, majority of the business customers already had it w Zoom and Teams . Teams and Google were embedded. Good luck trying to break that up without slamming which a lot of business reps did.

@aj
Then, you don't know how it works.
All equipment has to be FREEEE or no business from govt cuz competitor said all equipment is free.
And, all pricing plans for everything for $10 a month cuz competitor said everything is for $11 per month and you have to beat it.

If a unit is not profitable and isnt adding value to other units...then why should it not be shut down? It's a failed business at that point.

Not shutting those down long ago is part of the reason we are at this point.

The company is not making money because is not well run, because of the many self-inflated clueless leaders that care only to play the game and have no knowledge of the business they are assigned to. A company that re-orgs every year.

The proof is given by those companies that pick-up the pieces dismissed by Verizon. In 1 year-top those businesses that once were not making money become profitable. The list is too long to be mentioned

For the full year 2024, Verizon's reported consolidated net income (profit) was $17.95 billion, a 50.73% increase from 2023. Full-year earnings per share (EPS) were $4.14, up from $2.75 in 2023.

"wE aReN't MaKiNg aNy mOnEy!"

How to know when you're at end stage capitalism, when 18 Billion in PROFIT = 15,000 layoffs because it's not enough.

What a waste to not be a boomer these days.

@a6 more than likely shut down, they aren’t making money. You have some areas with 6-7 corp stores and maybe 2-3 of them are profitable. Verizon is losing money! Day to day.

Currently work in a Public Sector/Gov NOC that is very much struggling in a lot of aspects (leadership, terrible tools, mediocre T1"engineers"). I know were sc--wed, especially after the negative press we received with the FAA contract getting botched.
