Something feels already decided

Serious question: does anyone else feel like we’re past the ‘planning’ phase and already in the ‘waiting for the shoe to drop’ phase?

Big leadership announcements, but no full org charts below first line, no clear direction, and oddly few real comms.

Feels familiar.

Still waiting for new work id

Does anyone know what the he-l is taking the company so long to issue the new picture ids, that they demanded back in October that we needed to do it or face discipline. No1 knows where or when they r getting sent out. Once again rush rush rush with this company n the left hand doesn’t know what the right is doing.

Cat and Mouse games

Oracle is known for having too many layers of management. D and his close circle handle all the big meetings, while everyone else only gets small pieces of the work. This keeps the rest of the team from seeing the full plan. If Oracle fixed this and shared more information, the company would be much better off.
Need to get more Directors off-boarded or shuffled from their meeting favorites.

Anyone let go in december get severence offer yet?

Was let go in early December, told I would get an offer the start of January but after calling HR I was told I was still an employee for Jan and would get the offer mid to late Jan but have still not received any email from them and doubt Ill be getting one tomorrow..Anyone in a similar boat get any new info? Thanks.

Why is my 2-up's English so bad?

I get the guy is a bank-hopping (literally his sales pitch in his first meeting) likely H1-b, but his use of the English language is rather terrible. He routinely spouts non-sequiturs that diminish what he is saying, but in today's autocorrect-tuned world, nobody catches it. This guy is being paid a bunch of money to axe a bunch of US jobs, and the guy can barely utter competent sentences in the target audience's language.

The guy he replaced was significantly more capable as both an idea man, and a communicator. This ship is sinking fast.

Uncertainty is unbearable

Between problematic bosses and the constant fear of job cuts, coming to work has become a source of genuine dread for me. I've noticed that rumors change daily, and it doesn't help there's no clear communication to settle anyone's nerves. My team is paralyzed, we're all afraid to make a wrong move. The stress is now affecting my sleep and my ability to concentrate on anything else. I'm rapidly approaching my limit for coping with this sustained uncertainty.

Are company and union still talking?

According to an email sent in December. They were set to talk this month. Did they? Are they still? I don't understand why the complete silence all the time by the company and the union. I can see why they wouldn't give specific details while negotiating but they could at least give us the most general description of the current situation, right?

ANZ content bloodbath

So we here in the colonies have lost pretty much our entire schools publishing and content team. The rationale is that global content can be mediated to local curriculum requirements. This is patently untrue. The ANZ market for secondary school material is seriously insular, and anything that is not created by local writers will be looked on as second rate nonsense. They are moving us to the Pearson model, which as anyone who knows our market will attest is doomed to failure.
The best bit of this though is the fact that we only found out about this via a: people who had already been dumped but still had relationships with those canned and b: the actual email that went out was addressed only to the team who were mostly already being canned. There has been no messaging to the rest of the ANZ team despite us working closely with most of those involved over many years.
Gold standard in intercompany comms.

I don't believe a single word he says

“I recognize the weight of this news, particularly as it follows the organizational changes we made last year,” Anagnost wrote. “I want to be clear that this will not become an annual process at Autodesk and these changes are not driven by the external environment or an effort to replace people with AI.”

What Microsoft’s layoff denial reveals about viral rumors

Microsoft‘s communications chief did something unusual this month. He publicly shot down layoff rumors before they could metastasize. When anonymous posts on Reddit and Blind claimed the company planned to cut up to 22,000 jobs in January, Frank Shaw took to X with an unequivocal response, calling the reports “100 percent made up/speculative/wrong.”

Town hall meeting

G confirmed at the town hall that big RIF is weeks away. He called out management and underperformers but said cuts will come from everywhere. He also said there will more in the future but not every third thursday like employees have been used to.
