Credit stealers and managers pets

How does one deal with managers pets who are super annoying????

Maybe I'm new to the corporate culture but this individual has been annoyingly pushing themselves into everything just to show off and have their "fingerprint" on everything.

And since I'm not in same location as my snake of a manager, all of my work is being showed by this annoying credit stealer.

You can at this point guess our BU.

Is your sales “leader” the same?

Professional meeting attender.

Calendar always appears full.

Spreadsheet-centric, for everything.

Meets with entire team 2-3 times weekly, each meeting 1+ hour, overly repetitive and negative tone.

Has weekly 1-on-1 with each direct, only focusing on what they can do more of.

Shows up, but provides no value during partner interactions.

Takes everything personally.

Distrusts everyone, even top performers.

Provides no praise, just do more mentality.

Takes credit when no credit is due.

Track record of micromanagement and employee attrition.

Makes you feel small during every interaction.

Has horrible breath.

My work ethic is going to change

This Friday when I have my performance evaluation, if I do not get a merit (haven’t had one in two years) I am totally giving up on my work ethic. I can no longer let this team think this is okay and that I will continue to work hard. At this point I’m blaming direct manager and above them. I’m tired of us always blaming this man behind the curtain. Our managers are agreeing to this and they are at fault at this point too. Them just agreeing and going on with their day while they get $20k bonuses means they are at fault. I suggest you blame them too.

Stay strong. Keep yourself clean. Keep your values. Keep your integrity. Don’t become infected.

I had a target on my back and hung in there the whole time. Actually succeeded and exceeded in the complete he-l and misery a few (managers) made my life for years.

We are talking years.

YEARS.

My marriage, family life, and social life were all deeply affected in the worst ways possible.
These truly rotten to the core managers who are hallowed out without a trace of their sole left really ruined my life. Do they know or care? I doubt it. Would they probably find some kind of satisfaction in it? Probably.

It took being diagnosed with the worst to escape.

I won’t say it for confidentiality reasons, but I don’t know how much time I have left.

Was the years of misery worth it? No.

At the time, during the most miserable period of existing, I couldn’t swallow letting 1-2 people (managers) people push me out of the company I have worked so hard and had so much dedication to for years.

I suffered all of it. The whole playbook. What were meant to be Impossible workloads that I made possible, 0% merit increase, 0 recognition from direct management, (although I would get praises from other business lines because of my work ethic which of course is non existent in my year end review), isolation, rumor spreading, manipulation, sabotage, out right lying in my reviews and grading my work. It’s all there. Not going to say everything here. But it’s all there.

I stayed true to my work ethic the entirety and that brings a mix of emotions. On one hand I feel good that my intentions were always pure no matter what, and I truly hope I made a difference for someone else in my work even if it was only the slightest. On the other hand, I feel incredibly sad that it was to the overall benefit to managers who gave me he-l on earth.

I am sorry for everyone here. Please take a step back if it gets overwhelming and put yourself first.

If you can’t put yourself first, because you have to take care of business then remember to NEVER lose faith and always hold it close.

If your manager says these words you have a keeper

From my experience Chevron has NO keepers by the definition shared at the link below.

If you disagree please speak up and advise me on where to find a "keeper " among the cesspool of self serving supervision/ managers we are blessed with.

I have the biggest idgaf attitude

Not entertaining sh-t anymore and not doing anythjng extra. As someone forced wfh, im not reaping the benefits of any hard work and have watched peers who have no competent cell in their brain get promoted. Now idgaf and will do bare minimum. Staff wants to fu-k off. Oh well i’ll mark them meets regardless. Doesnt matter anyone when hi---r and his hr crew falsify performance anyway so why not let them fu-k off more than they do

Laid off? Public Service Announcement

If you get laid off and your manager insinuates he/she had no choice he’s a fu--ing useless liar (common for Danaher managers with no ba--s). It means he doesn’t care because he is a coward, didn’t fight for you, or wanted you gone. That and he decided to rate you low on potential for whatever reason.

Don’t ever listen to these corporate frauds who tell you ‘it’s above their pay grade or head’ or some other nonsense.

It was THEIR fault and equally your bosses boss. So those two are the ones who should be targeted when you seek revenge.

I’m really tired of the Stockholm syndrome and delusion of some employees here thinking their manager is an angel and on their side when these events happen. They aren’t.

Top performers

Top performers are a threat to weak management. If the company was smart-they would reward their hard workers. They can’t because of this. They are too threatened that those below them are smarter than they are. Intelligence will get you in the door-but Optum is too threatened to keep you.

Unbelievable

What is wrong with fidelity???

The managers have suddenly become super toxic, their tones have changed as if they "own you"...

I'm not sure what's driving this behavior but this is certainly not the company I recall working for ..I have been part of this firm for over 7 years but the last two years, and more importantly last 6 months have been terrible...

This manager has suddenly started yelling, being toxic, making associates compete, all while taking care of their pets who IMHO not sure how they first got the job and after being so awful still working for this company...

No surprises , I work for wealth

Toxic competing culture

At fidelity, we are not working to compete against our market competitors.

We are not competing against other BU's.

We are competing against person sitting next to us.

And these toxic managers are encouraging this behavior more than anything.

At work, you're not supposed to give stink eye to each other, I've been part of fidelity for 15 years, started as in intern.

But the last 4 years has been he-l and we have no one but these managers to blame.

I'm reaching a breaking point

I know quitting without something lined up would blow back on me, but staying in this work environment is wearing me down piece by piece. The manager who replaced one of the best bosses I ever had, before he was cut, is wildly incompetent and masks it by yelling at everyone over everything. I’m beyond tired of it.

I despise this company

I have never in my life felt more contempt for an organization than I do for UHG. Their revenue comes from denying medical care and stealing from the federal government. Our CEO is like a Frankenstein-esque combination of Darth Vader and Mr. Burns. They treat their employees like s--- and outsource jobs to Indians who barely speak English and couldn't code their way out of a paper bag. UHG is basically a corporate sweatshop.

And let's not forget about the incompetent, soulless freaks who make up the executive team. You gotta love working under 12 layers of id--ts who spend their days not actually doing anything productive but sitting in meetings planning how to cut costs and squeeze more work out of their burned out employees. F this place.

Whoever managed or designed LDAP or domain should get fired

that’s it. I lost access to VPN. Got instruction to reset my password. The instruction is sitting behind the VPN. WTH! I need to open a service support. Opened it, sorry it requires VPN. WTH!

I cannot reset the password with the last 24 or 25 times i have used. WTH! Does it help security? Doubt it

I have to do it every 3 months. That means I can reuse the 1st password after 6 years.

What such a stuxxd design!

There hasn’t been a word invented yet that describes how little Jane cares about employees.

She is laughing her @ss off every time she thinks about her 20 million $ raise last year and the 20 million $ the year before that, knowing that YOU are not getting a dime.
All wrapped up in “the bar is raised, you guys need to step it up”. Rest assured she’s got the biggest smile on her face every night she lays down to go to sleep.

Don’t forget, you’re measured on results not attempts. If you don’t execute and complete successfully an already bad idea or direction given by management, lacking resources\headcount or not and that was doomed to fail to begin with, then you fail, not management.

State Farm growth is tanking

We haven't really grown any new policies since July. It's going to get a lot worse. We are too expensive and can't afford to pay agents commission anymore since they account for about 30% of our expense ratio. People are not buying houses or new cars and putting their groceries on their credit cards. Broke. Plus our brand su-ks! Our current round of Execs are wannabes! They are only interested in profits over people. Nothing else as they despise employees and see you as a burden. Greed, incompetence, and unethical leadership defines this organization now and the culture that MT brought in is just a cancer that is slowly ki-ling the patient. In the next 5-10 years SF will become just a shell of itself and a story of what not to do in business. Place is and will always be a sh-t hole.

Well said, @g9+1ke4bkj4j.

I came after holidays and first meeting and I just cant take this sh-t anymore.

All day today I was like "what to do: quiet quit or really quit without any job to move into??". I used to really love software and engineering before Dell.

Now I think this is my first job where I really hate it, mainly because of our "great": tools, processes, managers and yesman crowd. oh ye and cant have a single meeting without AI AI AI bs and some other random 10 words nobody use outside of Dell.

I did literally nothing today and plan same for rest of the week, got another id--t task which description was written by manager on dr-gs and it will be "always NOK" so I plan just commit some MicroSlop and will "hide" till rest of sprint like the rest of them.

What a shame!

This all started with Babb when he move the corporate headquarters to Dallas to spend time with his grandchildren. Then he put Farmer in place and he is totally incompetent at running the organization. Now everyone will lose their jobs and he will ride off with millions. What a shame for the employees that care about the organization, the history and their customers.

My manager is unbearable

There are so many enablers on my team and so much ridiculous office politics that bad behavior seems encouraged. Previous managers weren’t much better, and overall competence has been lacking. How these people keep getting hired and promoted is beyond me. You’d think any corporation would prefer managers who boost performance, not ones who infest teams with toxicity and waste.

How toxic was your manager at WF?

You’re not going insane — you just spent years in a system that promotes the ones who break people, not the ones who build teams. Time to rate the “survivors.”

Toxic Manager Rating Scale — pick all that apply:

  1. Credit Thief – Devoured your work, slapped their name on it, and got praised for “thought leadership.”
  2. Ghost Boss – Vanished when real leadership was needed, magically appeared when there was credit to grab or heads to roll.
  3. Micromanager Supreme – Controlled every detail of your day, yet somehow had no clue what your job actually was.
  4. Backstabber Pro – “You’re doing great” to your face, “they’re not a team player” the second you leave the call.
  5. Blame Shifter – Their mistake, your “development opportunity.” Somehow you were always the common denominator.
  6. Teflon Titan – Nothing ever sticks. Reorg after reorg, layoff after layoff, and they’re still there, failing upward.
  7. Mood Roulette – You never knew if you were getting fake-friendly or full meltdown. Outlook calendar by day, unstable by nature.
  8. Gaslighter-in-Chief – Made you question your memory, your performance, and eventually your sanity.
  9. Loyalty Leech – Demanded 110% loyalty and availability, but ghosted you the second you needed support.
  10. Corporate Chameleon – Perfectly adapted to a toxic culture. Thrives in politics, allergic to accountability or empathy.

Add up your score and drop it below.
The higher the number, the more you earned your severance, your sanity, and your exit.

Being competent, delivering results does not matter

Many who were competent and delivering got shown the door while useless people who do nothing survived and failed up. Majority of Directors/VPs don't know the ABCs of engineering of managing people - they are just good su-k ups, liars and back stabbers. Bad behavior and failure gets you promoted - IDK. Note I did not say everyone, there are brilliant, kind, great leaders who are worth every dollar they get paid, but they are the few angels around.
